It was a blessing to share the same monitoring room couch as other greats like Michael Harris of Idiot Pilot. But all of this would only be three stars in my book. The finished product arrived at the end of the day and sounded far superior than I expected it would. The bass was lush and present, the percussion punchy yet gentle and textured, and the instrumentation had such a great stereo image. This was the fourth star. I'm giving them the coveted fifth star purely based on how much love the engineers put into their job and how much they cared for me as a client. I had the utmost faith in them throughout the day as they guided me through the motions and I felt like family at the end of the session. I will be taking the trip 2 hours north to Bellingham for all my recording needs going forward. Go Bayside!

If I was a rock star, this is where I'd want to record. Apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks so; AC/DC, Aerosmith, The Cranberries, and Nickelback are just some of the bands that have their awards hanging on the walls of their album's birthplace. Unfortunately, my review won't be in the direction of Armoury Studios' intended usage, but rather as a music venue. I was fortunate enough to win tickets to last night's Uninvited Guest with Three Days Grace through The Fox. The show was an amazing acoustic set. The studio space has great sound and is a very intimate venue with about 50 people in the audience. It was well organized and everyone got personal time with Three Days Grace for autographs, pictures, and questions. If only every concert could be such an experience. The only drawbacks were that once the set started, no one was permitted to leave the studio proper, so bathroom breaks had to be timed carefully and there's no option for the audience to have refreshments in the studio. I understand the need for these requirements, but it's what was missing to achieve perfection. My experience at Armoury Studios was so stellar, that I will fight tooth and nail to see artists in my taste there. Watch out CFOX, I'll be harassing you for entry into the next performance.

I ended up going back another time for another project, and since, I've just given in that Bellinghome is a part of my life now. I've made some projects with my son at 3 and 4 years old. I know Nick is a great teacher because of how he works with my son (patient, the right amount of silly, always laid back). The equipment is all top notch and all of the recordings I've made there are crisp and clean. I've also done some video stuff with Nick. He's helped hugely with a music video I'm working on, giving us incredible footage and lots of pointers along the way. Nick is a bit of a creative Renaissance man. He's very well rounded, but humble and hospitable. It's just a great place, really. I've decided that supporting Bellinghome is as much a no brainer for me as supporting the grocery store--its nourishment. I'm thrilled to have this space be a part of my kids' lives as they grow.
