I went to visit Dr. Michael Matthews because I had a super painful ingrown toenail and I was able to get a same day appointment (yay!). I am always incredibly nervous when going to the doctors, but Dr. Matthews was amazing! Super funny, knows what he's doing, and fixed my issue ASAP. Would 100% recommend this office and Dr. Matthews to anyone. read more

Aaaaaah! I just found the COOLEST doctor ever! Picture it: I am sitting in this lifted chair with toe nail polish missing off of my right big toe in a sterile looking office. A knock at the door and then enters a man who appers around 50, graying hair, glasses, bright blue eyes, hanes white t-shirt, jeans, and loafers. I was wondering who on earth this guy was, and while he was speaking, I realized it was the doctor! He was so gentle and kind; it was a wonderful experience. He explained how my running was causing my toenail to stop growing and how to help things along. He also looked at my bunions and worked out a future plan to help those as well. I will never go to another podiatrist again. Ever. read more

Daughter just started grueling cross country regimen with high school, started complaining about foot and knee pain while running. Turns out she has pronating ankles. I figured we'd need $500 custom orthotics. Got an appointment a day after contacting their office. Doc suggested some alternative fixes before going to a custom insert to see if that would alleviate some of the pain. We also needed better shoes. Their office provided a good set of inserts for shoes, so we start there. I did find them online just out of a general search, but were also recommended by another good friend whose daughter has been seeing him as well. Liked his bedside manner, explained issues well, very nice and calming man, didn't rush us through the appointment. Office staff very nice as well. I consulted two podiatrists prior to seeing Dr Ross, one who performed bunion surgery without realizing that I had neuromas and hammertoes on the same foot which were contributing to my pain. After two surgeries (first bunion then neuromas on one foot) with that one, I looked elsewhere for someone more competent. Dr. Ross was left in the position of cleaning up the mess. He referred me to post-op PT (something Dr #1 should have done but didn't) for my left foot and scheduled me for bunion surgery for my right foot--plus removed two hammertoes. I'm still in the recovery stages but so far everything seems to be going well. He'll be injecting alcohol in the remaining neuromas in the hopes of killing them without more surgery, since recovery hasn't been easy. I found him to be very knowledgeable and willing to impart that knowledge towards patient education. The fact that he has a diplomate designation by an accrediting body doesn't hurt and distinguishes him from those who don't. Dr Ross' staff is wonderful, helpful and knowledgeable, and that makes a difference when you're frustrated or in pain. read more

I had to see a foot doctor cause my big toe got infected. Dr. Ross was fantastic. He explained to me exactly why it was infected and then performed minor surgery that was so painless. He then gave me a kit for the foot. It has healed up well. If you need a great food doctor, go see Dr. Ross. His staff is also great. He takes United Heath Care insurance. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Ross for the past 6 years. I first went to visit him because I developed a sharp pain on my foot which prevented me from exercising or walking extensively. He diagnosed a neuroma and recommended a serious of injections to minimize inflamation, he also prescribed orthodics for my flat feet. While the pain has come back throughout the years we have been able to manage it with injections vs operating; which was the first recommendation of other doctor. I find Dr Ross to be very knowldedgeable on his field, always offering sounding recommendations to improve his patients well being. read more

1/19/2017 I'm a security guard and I've had a problem ingrown toenails on both feet making it hard to walk around (And I have to walk for 12 hours!) so I finally get up the nerve to go to the doctors (I'm terribly afraid of the whole ordeal) but Dr.Ross made me feel comfortable and relaxed enough to take my mind off of what was happening. He was funny, charismatic and extremely skilled at what he did, I was numbed up and going through minor surgery before I could even start worrying about it and I felt absolutely nothing, not even pressure! I'll leave a follow up review later once it heals up, but for the first time I actually feel compelled to leave a review about something and thank the doctor for making the whole experience positive!. I visited Dr. Paul Ross office last year. I had an ingrown nail and it got infected. That's why I went to visit Dr. Paul. He was very nice and polite. He took a sample of my nail. I didn't have health insurance and told him I was not willing to spend a lot of money for the lab. And also told him I would not spend more than $100 for the lab and if it would be more than that I would not send to the lab (I was getting health insurance soon and would prefer to wait until I have it if it would be too expensive). He told me my nail would fall anyways and it was my decision to send it or not to the lab. He told me the lab would cost around $75. Based on this I decided to send to the lab. A few weeks later I got the bill from the lab for $400 and 2 weeks later than that another bill for $157. I was very disappointed I have never got my lab result. Just the bill and the bill was way more than I was willing to pay. Called the office to complain and they had me on hold for 10min. I hang up and called again. The lady said she would get my number and call back. No call back for 2 days. I called again and finally got to speak with someone. This person got my information and told me they would get me a discount and the lab would send another bill. A few weeks later I got the "reduced" bill. They gave me $100 discount total and I still didn't get my lab results. At this point I was just too frustrated and never called them again. I will not go back there. I had to go to another doctor, spend more money. Got to have a nail surgery to remove because the bacteria was never treated correctly. read more

I was treated by Dr. Ross a handful of times with the hope of plantar fasciitis relief. I explained to Dr. Ross that the pain wasn't horrible most of the day but constant pain is constant pain. Dr. Ross told me that there are many options to help make me feel better. He also said surgery was rarely considered any longer because there are so many other options. So I had four treatments using shockwave therapy that I paid for out of pocket and was expecting, based on what Dr. Ross had told me, to have at least two more without being billed further. But on what was to be my fifth treatment and a review of a new MRI, Dr. Ross came in the room and announced that I had a tear that was probably not going to get any better without surgery. I asked Dr. Ross if he had seen the MRI yet, and he said he had not looked at the images I am not even sure he read the radiology report result before making his announcement that he wanted to cut the tendon in my foot and possibly my calf as well. I say this based on the radiology results that said my condition was consistent with a tear but did not show a current tear or rupture. He also said he could do more shockwave treatment but he wasn't sure it was doing any good. Dr. Ross did not discuss any of other options available that he spoke of on my first visit. I actually felt like he had me confused with another patient. At that point I had lost all confidence and left Dr. Ross's office confused and not feeling very hopeful. Side Note - As I reported at my appointments with Dr. Ross, my pain at best any time I went to their office was a 3 out of 10. How does that merit wanting to perform a surgery that form what I understand, does not have the highest success rate to begin with? I cannot speak for other conditions Dr. Ross might help with, but I for one will not be seeking Dr. Ross's advice ever again. read more

Told me I had a stress fracture, didn't even take x-rays. Put me in a hard boot for 20 weeks. I told him I was not getting any relief, he fit me for orthodics, it turns out that they were totally wrong for my foot. He talks a great game. read more

Please do not visit Dr. Ross. He misdiagnosed a rare deformity on my pinky toe as fungus. when i told him "No, its a periungual fibrokeratoma" maybe because i am young.. or a female.. he didn't like being told he was wrong and took my diagnosis personally, which it wasn't. he has incredible hubris. he raised his voice and informed me that after i've attended medical school i get to call the shots, and that "you think you know everything but you are so young, you don't actually know anything." I asked that he not send the growth to the lab, because i didn't want to pay for a lab report knowing they can get pricey. he told that i had to get the lab report or he wouldn't help me, and was angry with me raising his voice again. when the lab report came back months laters, it showed that his diagnosis was wrong and mine was right. and it was expensive and needless. when he made the incision to remove my issue, he said that no matter if it was a fibrokeratoma or fungus, what he did would preclude it growing back. You guessed it - it grew back which reminded me about the worst experience i've ever had with a doctor and inspired me to pen this review. if mr. ross has ever been married, i would guess it was followed by a divorce. if mr. ross is currently married, the wife must have a miserable life and i feel sorry for her read more

I could not be happier with Dr Ross and his entire staff in Springfield. I originally went to see him late fall of 2011 with severe foot pain. I was very concerned as I am very active and athletic. After a thorough exam, x-rays and a discussion about all of my options I chose a surgical repair. I could not be happier with that decision. I really thought my athletic life was over. The surgery was in January 2012 and by the end of March 2012 I was back to 100% of my acitivy level with zero pain. I trusted Dr Ross and it was the best decision I ever made. I enjoy interacting with his staff who are beyond nice, very professional and knowledgeable. I trust Dr Ross so much that I not only have recommended him to friends (who are now under his care) but I had my other foot repaired as well just this past month. His knowledge, professionalism, skill and bedside manner are all above any other medical professional I have ever encountered. My quality of life has been so positively impacted on not one but two occassions by the work of Dr. Ross. I would not have entrusted my livelyhood to him twice if I thought otherwise! read more
