If you are a startup founder, STOP right here and you need to read this. Don't waste your time googling or reading other reviews because Matt is brilliant. I just had my consultation with him and he went through my deck (yes, I was prepared to be ripped up apart), and he was nice enough to give me a B rating). He knows how to write a winning pitch deck and definitely dropped many valuable nuggets that start up founders can benefit from. Not easy being a solo entrepreneur, but having a team like Matt and his staff back up means the world. I look forward to the day where he can redo my pitch deck, coach me and hopefully prep me for institutional money, when we get there w that A Rating! Until then -- book your consultation. You won't regret it. 10 stars. Thank you so much! read more

I'm launching my 4th startup and never needed outside funding before. I decide that I needed some seed funding to build up a creative social e-commerce agency as I dont want to wait around for years to grow organically. I was connected to a wonderful gentleman, Matt Khalili from my LA business network. Matt indicated that I would be bankable and that the SBA can give start-up loans in some instances. I was very happy to learn that I didn't need to dilute myself as debt is always cheaper in the long run versus equity. Matt's company diligently learned about my past background, personal financial position, track record and business idea and they prepared a very comprehensive plan. They found trade shows that I didn't know existed in my industry and developed practical assumptions to build financial model / projections. I find myself to be a very difficult client and I can say that I'm quite satisfied. Oh and one more thing, they introduced me to a regional bank that does in fact offer SBA loans for startups. I received credit approval for a $450,000 loan read more

I just had the most amazing conversation with Matt. He gave me a lot of information and spent so much time with me. He is very patient and will help you so much. I am selling my business and gave me a plan to go forward. Highly recommend. read more

Called for a consultation and didnt receive an answer for days. Their so-called consultation is nothing more than a pitch to sell me their services. No value there. Too costly for a business plan read more

Matt Paul and the entire admin team are all angels. I needed a large Sba expansion loan for my amazon agency and felt a lot of stress trying to get this loan approved. What I liked is they really understood the banking system and had great rapport with my banker at Huntington bank- they really advocating for me and proactively found inconsistencies I didn't realize. Our plan was great, service was great and after a good 60 day loan process and proud to say our loan is approved. The SBA process is not easy but we got it done. read more

Such a wonderful experience - I have aspirations for a voice acting business and decided I needed to develop a business plan. Matt shared very effective solutions for my plan and prepared SMART goals. These guys (Matt particularly) are highly intelligent, transparent, and honest in their service. I really appreciate the good work and fun banter. We'll let you know how this venture goes in the next few years! read more

I've consulted with dozens of advisors, and none have been as helpful, patient, or knowledgeable as Matt. Our 30-minute consultation stretched to nearly an hour, and by the end, I felt like I was speaking with a friend who genuinely cared about my business's success as if it were his own. He communicated in clear, simple terms and never once tried to upsell me--he didn't even discuss pricing. Instead, he made it clear that he was there to help and encouraged me to reach out with any further questions. I left the call feeling supported and confident, knowing I had gained a true ally and a valuable resource. 10/10 read more

I had a phone call with Matthew Khalili today to talk about the process and rates The Plan Writers offer. I have been consulting different business plan writers to see who is the right fit to help me on this journey. This guy Matthew Khalili is far from it.. Very rude, very passive aggressive in how he talks. Matthew insulted my intelligence and my previous company. He asked me in a passive aggressive tone if I was a decision maker or not.. Like who do you think you are little bud? I'm consulting you... he acted as if I'm the one that needs him...There are way better and more professional options that will help you write a great business plan. I hope he was just having a bad day because that is not how you make anyone want to buy your service. read more

I had the opportunity of meeting Matthew after attending a webinar he led. He generously offered to invest time to connect, with the goal of providing feedback around a pitch deck that had opportunity for improvement. His feedback was direct, succinct, thoughtful and most of all delivered in a respectful way. Finding people who are willing to help with no expectation in return is rare. Matthew, thank you for sharing your insight and recognizing the iterative effort it takes to create valuable products and meaningful outcomes. I plan to pay it forward in the future. read more

I wish there were more stars I can give this company. First off let me start by saying I researched a lot of business plan writing companies and from the beginning this one stood out by their kind and warm demeanor and just how much they offered to help new business owners. From the beginning I was told that they can help me with all the numbers because I was not knowledgeable about any of it. I had a vision in my head and I had no idea how to put it to paper. From the first consultation call they assured me that they would be able to do this for me. They went above and beyond my expectations. I was so blessed and I am so grateful to have gotten the writer Nelly! During the intake phone call I was driving on my way to the airport speaking very quickly and she got every detail down and put it into the plan perfectly and beautifully!!!! Anytime I had any questions she was always available and happy to help!!!!!!!! I cannot stress enough how much this company and my writer have been a God sent! When I got the first draft I was blown away how beautiful and professional it was but then I was notified that it still had to be sent to the graphic designer! I was satisfied at that point! But when I got it back from the graphic designer I literally cried!!! My business plan is beyond beautiful, it's so professional I cannot believe what a great job this company does!!! It is worth 100% every single dollar spent!!!!! Not to mention the turnaround time is unbelievable!!! Thank you thank you so much to The Plan Writers, I am so grateful for all your hard work and how awesome the whole company is from the sales person, customer service, to my writer and the graphic designer!!!!!! Top quality service and end product!!!! read more

UPDATE: After the review, the company reached out to me with an offer of rewriting the plan and a partial reimbursement. I asked for time to think about it because I had already spent so much time I wasn't sure I wanted to go through the whole headache again. They reached out again to offer a second option of a website without partial reimbursement. When I questioned why if the website is less than what I paid for the business plan, the owners response was abrasive, harsh, and uncalled for. I have never been rude, mean, or disrespectful. I asked to understand and gain clarity. After that unpleasant conversation, I no longer felt comfortable working with this company again. I asked if a full refund was an option. I was further offended by their response, saying I am taking out my hardship on their company and withdrawing all offers. To clarify, I hadn't requested anything from them previous to their offer. They reached out to ME. Only then did I ask about alternative options based on their snark response to questions, making me further uncomfortable Now I am even more sure this company is unethical and just bad business all around. Perfect example of gaslighting. Acting nice, extending an olive branch, reducing the offer, blaming the client for questioning, then being mean, and making the client look hostile. I have not changed my mind. Would NOT recommend working with this company! Waste of money, waste of time, and overall terrible experience. I have since tried to obtain a loan with the business plan and again proved this Business Plan is useless. It's not "Strategic" nor is it good for obtaining a Loan either. read more

After a few months of working to start my first dental practice, I needed some guidance when it came to the financial side of things. I have zero background in business and I was referred to Matt Khalili for help. He provided me with a high quality business plan and set me up to start the practice correctly. Matt took his time to give me any explanations I needed and was willing to answer any of my concerns. Although it was a little pricey, Plan Writers left me with an amazing business plan that I was proud to show my potential investors. I highly recommend Matt and his team to anyone looking for guidance to start their new business! read more

I have an MBA but come more from the marketing side and needed some help putting together the financial worksheet for my business plan. Matt was great at quickly cutting to the core needs for my purpose and helped me to get focused and clear on what the scope should be at this juncture. I appreciated his ability to bring the perspective of someone who has seen many plans and not let me over-complicate it too soon. He was very clear with me on what expectations were reasonable for our agreement and made sure that we were on the same page about that. We also had a followup call where we talked through everything, he answered my questions, and made a few adjustments to better refine things once I was able to look it all through and understand better how various parts related to my end goal. Although it was an investment financially I feel it is ultimately less expensive in the early stages to work with someone (Plan Writers) who can fill in the gaps and help you get past your personal hurdles before investing in expanding your team. read more

I am a start up and had no idea how to complete a business plan. I know this is a very important stage when starting a new business and wanted it to be perfect for lenders. I had started the process on my own but realized I didn't have the time or knowledge to turn it into the product I needed. I reviewed other companies online and even called to see how the companies dealt with me and the questions I had. Based on the positive responses I received I decided to go with The Plan Writers. John was great to deal with and really helpful when I had any concerns or questions. They completed my plan quickly and it came out beautiful! They found information I never knew existed. They incorporated graphs and photos to make it easy to quickly understand how my business would do with future profit and growth. I highly recommend this company if you want a quality product! read more

My husband and I started a Pharmacy that offers a delivery solution. I had worked with Matt Khalili who created a plan that incorporated financials for a traditional retail pharmacy and a detailed forecast for a delivery revenue stream. What I liked about my plan is that their people understand trends in the pharmacy retail business and know how insurance companies painfully cut into our cash flow each year. We were more confident in our path as we found the necessity for new revenue streams to keep us at the profitability we want. My plan was done in about one week and they used a research report based on a California market retail pharmacy analysis. Overall, the people at this company are smart and efficient. They knew about the SBA requirements and was surprised they picked up on my call on a Sunday. My only feedback is that they took a little longer to handle a revision they promised me in 2 days (they took 4). I still think they still deserve 5 stars as there pretty on target and are really nice people. Thank you matt and the team! read more

I own a retail kiosk at century city mall and needed an sba loan. This company did a good job with a business plan and my lender was pretty impressed. My loan was approved and an operating. The plan they wrote made sense and was understandable. Their ceo Matt was knowledgeable and got straight to the point without wasting my time. Great value and honest people. I highly recommended their services especially for newbies like me. I don't usually trust sales people but got a great vibe from their company and was right about it. read more

A more focused look at the negative reviews is in order before one considers engaging Matt Khalili and his team at The Plan Writes. My experience working with them to produce a Business Plan and accompanying Presentation Deck was quite frustrating. In spite of my providing more than enough detailed material and having many direct phone conversations with members of The Plan Writers team, the work that was delivered was incomplete and not satisfactory. It contained a narrative with factual errors, lacked relevant market data, and contained financials with significant omissions and formula errors. Also, the finalized layout and graphics were never completed. Finally, a completed Presentation Deck which was contracted for was never delivered. When I queried Matt about the poor performance of his team in delivering what was contracted, he gaslighted me insisting the work was complete and of good quality. Working with the Plan Writers has been a complete waste of time and unfortunately a waste of almost $10K. read more

When I solicited plan writers to update my business plan to include subsidiaries I had initiated, I was initially pleased with the 1st call and their flexibility on payment options as this was the only reason I didn't work with initial Co. Firstly, Communication was seriously lacking, I had to constantly email to ask if they needed any info. 2ndly, They require full pmt prior to initial draft which didn't come with the financials (most imp since I had 70% narrative done). 3) Assigned to an immigration specialist for a healthcare plan. (Matt said she has experience with visas, I guess because my organization is abroad, he thought we needed visas as opposed to someone with healthcare experience?) 4) Plan goes to Graphics department arbitrarily decides, without any input from customer. They did a good job, however, it did not reflect the community I'm serving. 5) It took 5 months to complete the plan and the assigned writer actually told me it's one of the longest time periods its taken. Eventually, we had a conference call which began with Matt dictating what was to be discussed and what I was not allowed to express 4) when I voiced my concerns, I received an email from Matt stating I needed an 'attitude adjustment" . I've been a nurse (RN, MpH) for 21yrs, currently starting a hospice, I know how to articulate myself professionally, I don't curse or yell, so I'm not sure what he thought needed "adjustment". When I called Matt to let him know I was offended by his insinuation that I'm an 'angry black woman" for expressing my concerns actually laughed! I was shocked and I asked him incredulously why he would laugh, he stated he thought I was joking? I don't know which part of this scenario would be funny? Personally, Lesson learnt, due a lot of due diligence research especially for something this important. More importantly, plan writers are in the business of articulating people's visions and dreams into a business format, why would you not welcome and be so resistant to input from the clients you're supposed to be serving? I guess to them, the customer's NOT always right. read more
