We spent our morning at the Zoo and by the time we left the kids were famished! I knew Pittsburgh Juice would take the best care of us! Bodie got a plain Jane smoothie bowl, Georgia the dragon bowl (hot pink!), and Goldie the mermaid bowl (of course ‍). They loved how refreshing they were and I loved the health benefits! I scooped some fresh juices for my husband and I to enjoy too. Parking was easy and the kids loved running around while we waited, but you can order online too! I would've liked a seating area, but the place is very small so they really can't fit tables in there. Good Vibes kombucha (elderflower, blueberry, lemon), $5 - for me, this was just too vinegary. 2. Solar Power kombucha (orange, cardamon, cinnamon), $5 - this was so delicately balanced, and I really enjoyed the gentle orange and spice flavors. However, I wouldn't order either of the kombuchas again simply because I have some great places where I live making booch from locally sourced ingredients; it only makes sense for me to support them. 3. Morning Glory juice (carrot, apple, lemon, ginger), $6 - very, very carroty. Carrot greens, carrot flesh. Carrot, carrot, carrot. I couldn't taste anything but carrot. Too earthy for me. 4. Supernova wellness shot (fiery ginger and lemon), $5 - I don't know what's going on here, but WOW. ZING. POW. KABLAM. This is a punch in the mouth. One sip and YOU ARE WIDE AWAKE. I've never had anything quite like this. I'm not sure if I liked it or was shocked by it, either way: I'm intrigued. 5. Choco-Cream Pie, $12: This was absolutely not for me. I found it to have a strangely gelatinous texture and very soily flavor. 6. Almond Butter Truffle, $5: Yum! I mean this as a compliment, but this tasted like the vegan treats you'd find at an all natural grocery twenty years ago. 7. Coconut "Bacon", $8: ABSOLUTE WINNER. So thick! So crunchy! So smoky! So salty! I want to snack on this forever. Sure, I've had coconut bacon before, but they're doing it differently here. This place is always consistent and reliable! The juices are super flavorful and interesting. The Witch's Brew is my go to- it's a green juice made of Cucumber, Granny Smith Apple, Baby Spinach, Kale, Celery, Lemon, Ginger. The apple makes it a little bit sweet, so it isn't bitter at all. It is my favorite green juice in the city! Other highlights include the Berry Watermelon (how is it so fresh all year round?), Green Goodness (Spinach, Coconut Mylk, Flaxseed, Dates, Turmeric, Mint, Cinnamon), and the Carrot Apple Ginger juice. They also have amazing grab and go vegan items. The Summer rolls have always been a favorite. The sauce you dip them in is the best part!I just tried the broccoli falafel for the first time, and WOW! I can't wait to get it again. They are made from raw ingredients, so you don't have to worry about them being fried like typical falafel! In the freezer there are delicious and unique vegan desserts. The carrot cake and coconut cream pie are two solid options. Let them defrost in the fridge before eating. The juices are pricy, but they are made with good quality, organic ingredients. Yum! On this visit I purchased the "Drink Me". It is made with house made cashew milk, blue majik spirulina, dates, vanilla, coconut oil, and pink himalayan sea salt. This is one of my go-to's whenever I come here. It is just delicious. I'm pretty sure that what I like the most is the taste of the dates mixed in with everything else. At first I didn't know if cashew milk was going to be my thing but really it just gives it a creamy texture when mixed with the coconut oil. Much like the taste of almond milk but with cashews. I really like the bright blue color. It's weird enough that it feels special while drinking it. I'm pretty sure this drink's name came from Alice in Wonderland. Which also appeals to me. The Cheshire cat, who doesn't love that character? I think that when drinking this you can just drift off in a little fantasy world and imagine caterpillars smoking hookahs in big rainforests. The store is taking precautions for COVID and only is allows two people in at a time. The store is pretty small so this really makes me feel secure that no one is going to be up in my business while trying to check out. The employees were masked and they were very friendly. I stopped over here for veg fest since it was a hub station for the festival and finally got the opportunity to purchase some of their juices. The store is basically a grab and go and in addition to juices you can purchase juice cleanses, acai bowls, vegan delicacies, vegan treats, and even retail items. Your juices are made fresh daily and have about a one week refrigerated life with an expiration date on the lid. They are served in 16 oz glass jars which you can return for a small credit on your next purchase or they come in handy if you are into crafts or need an instant vase. On this particular visit I purchased the pumpkin mylk and the strawberry fields. They are made with organic ingredients and designed to promote health. Although they cost $10.00 / bottle I normally find I am paying more when I purchase both organic and vegan products. I had the pumpkin mylk first and believe me it tasted like liquid pumpkin pie!! So good. Just missing the whipped cream but I loved the taste of it. It was very thick and served as a milk replacement. Pumpkin mylk is a seasonal offering so look for it only in the fall and through the holiday period. The strawberry fields is also a thick smoothie style juice consisting of strawberry, banana, hemp hearts, soy based vegan probiotic and agave. it too was very good and quite filling. The Pittsburgh juice company is located in lower Lawrenceville where on street parking can be problematic at times. You can however, order ahead on their website and your purchase will be ready for you upon arrival. I was lucky enough to be part of a Yelp Elite event. Of course, there was construction at the intersection of Butler Street and Penn Ave. But parking was plentiful. The store front is tiny. With COVID precautions, only 2 customers can be inside at at a time. I was behind a frequent flyer. He recognized new items on the menu and was efficiently making his order. I didn't recognize half of his ingredients. When it was my turn, I meekly said I had never been here before. The cashier enthusiastically educated me on all the standing coolers: juices, smoothies, frozen, and refridgerated snacks. Other Yelp reviewers recommended the watermelon berry juice. I looked at the ingredients: watermelon & in season berries - that's it no added sugar, 3 syllable ingredients, etc.. So, I purchased a watermelon berry juice (also received one for the Yelp Event) and the spinach dip. The juice was in a glass bottle with an expiration date prominently displayed. It was was refreshing, thin consistency, and no seeds to stick in my teeth. I have to say it crossed my mind ... add vodka or champagne. I ate the spinach dip cold with pita chips. It was VERY GOOD. Juice Factory was a lovely treat. Unfortunately, my budget can't support an $11 juice on a regular basis. If in Lawrenceville, would I stop by again ... absolutely. read more

This is undoubtedly one of my favorite places to go to when I am in Bloomfield. The Mother of Dragons smoothie is my favorite and costs about $10. All the juices and smoothies are standard in size and price, and are either made the day before or the day of (depending on what time you go). They also serve vegan treats, and I must say that the raw vegan birthday cake is soooo amazing once thawed for about 30 minutes. There is no garage parking, and the streets are usually full. I walk from the car shop usually when I'm getting a tune up, so I have no complaints. They have a loyalty program, where once you get 100 points you get a free juice or smoothie up to $10. I'm a huge fan of juice. I make my own at home with my Vitamix regularly. There is just something special about drinking all the wonderful nutrients plants have to offer. Since I typically make my own juice, I don't go out for juice that often. However, I really enjoy coming to The Pittsburgh Juice Co, because I am getting juice that I cannot make at home- it's cold pressed, with really unique ingredients and flavor combinations. Juice is pricey anywhere you go. You're paying for the high quality ingredients, and the cold press technique that isn't easy to replicate at home. I love that PJC uses glass bottles and that they encourage you to bring them back (cleaned) for a $1 credit per bottle. Yay to reusing & recycling! I have tried these juices/smoothies so far- Mother of Dragons (dragon fruit/ pineapple deliciousness), Turmeric lemonade (lemony, orangey, turmericy goodness), and Drink Me (obsessed with the name and the color of this pale blue cashew milk- so good!). They were all delicious. One of my favorite parts of PJC? They have a $5 shelf, which contains the drinks that are on their last sell by date. If you aren't so crazy about the idea of spending $9+ for a drink, then check out their $5 shelf for a killer deal! I enjoyed the witch's brew it gave me all of my greens for the day and the power berry was a delicious meal replacement smoothie. The juice was delicious. Unfortunately, they substituted a drink apart of the getting juicey program with cashew mylk. I called about the confusion because it was my first time ordering. The guy on the phone insisted that was my order. When I said I have an allergy to cashews, he cut me off and said I know-which no where on the order does it ask about allergies or substitutes. The website is unclear to whether or not how many days are included in these programs. But in all, you pay $65 for one day. I'm very addicted. I mean, not addicted enough to go out and buy a juicer, but addicted enough to stop a couple times a month and get my fix. I love the cocao smoothie because it feels like I'm cheating and being bad, when actually I'm being good, and can enjoy a little chocolate in my life. My absolute favorite has to be the watermelon. I don't care if it's summer, or winter or somewhere in between, it's so sweet and refreshing. I understand the juices are not on the cheap side, but I appreciate that I'm not gathering the veggies, and crushing the veggies and doing whatever else magical it is to make it taste good, but I'm still getting the nutritional value. While I do tend to go for the fluff drinks, the green juices are good too. I love their new Witches Brew blend. Of course with every batch, there comes a slightly different variation of taste, so I like it when it's a little more in the gingery side! I've tried their juice before at an event and loved it! I finally went out to their location. I walked in and the smell of fresh juiced veggies smacked me in the face. I wouldn't say it's my favorite smell, but it was obvious they were cookin' up something great for the body. That's the important part! I love that they make everything fresh. I saw the fridge sitting there with some options to pick from. Being the insane chocolate lover I of course chose cacao blast. Ingredients are: coconut water, bananas, almonds, raw cacao, raw-vegan protein, and sea salt. The bottle is 16oz and glass. I'd say that's a decent size and great for reusing though I'm not super stoked about the price. I'd say it's worth it for freshness and quality. When I tasted this juice it first tasted more like a nut butter and I couldn't pick out the cacao taste. Then it all mixed well for me and I could taste that perfect combo. Delicious juices! I have been to The Pittsburgh Juice Co. about 5 times. Love every juice I've tried. My favorite is the Berry Watermelon. It's like summer in a bottle, so refreshing. Prices are a little high. So unfortunately I can't stop here all the time, just once & a while. They do give you $1 credit toward your juice each time you return the glass bottle. First time here. At first I didn't realize the juices/ coffees were all pre-made and in the cooler-- I was expecting some things to be made to order. The berry power smoothie was very good- the consistency is a rather runny compared to some smoothies (the kind blended with ice, etc) but the flavor made up for it. I have driven past Pittsburgh Juice Co many...many times. Every time, I say to myself - that's a neat little place, I like Juice...I should stop sometime. Well, i finally stopped! Thursday night my friend and I got some fantastic sushi...then we decided to check out the Juice Co. She is doing a cleanse next week and thought this would be a great "jump start" but also a great way to check it out. You get the fresh fruits/veggies smell as you walk in. They have boxes of fresh stuff all around. We were the only 2 folks in there at the time, which was perfect so we could ask a bunch of questions. Casey (the fantastic gal working last evening) was awesome. She let us ask our "stupid" questions and answered them kindly. I know nothing about the "juicing" world - so I was grateful for someone patient. She let us try the orange blossom and strawberry fields. Holy crap I was in love. I left with 6 bottles - all 6 different flavors (Witches Brew, Watermelon Berry, Strawberry Fields, Power Berry, Carrot/Ginger/Apple, and an Almond Milk). If you take back clean bottles, you even get a credit towards your next purchase! This morning I shared the Witches Brew and Watermelon Berry with a co-worker. I have no doubt she will be in ASAP. She's been a juicer for awhile - so I was eager to share with her. I can't wait for the Carrot Apple Ginger...I had a juice similar to this in iceland and I LOVED it...and I have no doubt I will love this one. I am officially a fan. They take credit cards and cash. The bottles aren't cheap (range from $8-10) HOWEVER it is well worth the money. They come in glass bottles - clean them and return them for a credit. Definitely give it a chance. This was probably one of the worst açai bowls I've ever had and was definitely a waste of money. First of all, it didn't even taste like açai. The base pretty much just tasted like bananas and it also tasted very grainy, most likely due to the added plant protein. The inside is also very small and uncomfortably humid. You will be better off getting it to go. We were also the only ones there and yet, it took them 10 minutes to make 2 açai bowls. If you're looking for a real açai bowl, don't come here. read more

This place is a wonderful treat, and a great addition to the Lawrenceville neighborhood. Love the savvy location right next door to Bikram Yoga Pittsburgh, the open air design, the sweet and talkative staff, and, of course, the juice! So far I've tried the power berry smoothie, which was delicious and refreshing, and the green juice, a classic. The freshness and thoughtfulness in preparation is well worth the price. Trust me, next time I'm in the 'burgh, I'm stopping by PJC again. P.S. I haven't tried the snacks yet, but I think the fact that they are finding (delicious) ways to reuse the by-products of juicing, rather than tossing them in the trash, is commendable (and rare for these operations, as far as I know). read more

I had a 3-day juice cleanse delivered to my office on Tuesday, 7/24/18 and was excited to try my first cleanse. I finished the first three of my juices by 4pm that day and by 6:30pm, I started to feel off. By 7pm I was sick. For the following 24 hours, I was down for the count. I called PJC on Thursday morning to explain the situation and ask for a refund since I had gotten sick and had 15 remaining juices that I couldn't drink. While the food poisoning itself was bad enough, the customer service managed to be even worse. The owner returned my phone call and was immediately defensive, dismissive, and rude. It was clear that she did not believe me (I assure you I did not exaggerate) and had no interest in coming to an understanding. I was told that had I followed their cancellation policy and cancelled 24 hours in advance, I would have gotten a refund. To that I say, if I had known 24 hours in advance that the juice was going to make me sick, I certainly would have cancelled. I was also told that had I called as soon as I got sick, perhaps they would have refunded my money but I had waited too long. When I explained how sick I was, I was told that the owner had gotten food poisoning the weekend before and had not been that sick. I did not see how that was an appropriate response and would say that she was very lucky, not that I was lying. Perhaps the most concerning of all was that I was repeatedly told that I could not return the juices because they would be expired, implying that had they not been close to expiration, they would have re-sold the juices that I had just told them made me sick. My offer to return the juice was to show that I had not had most of them and to return the glassware, not to suggest that they be re-sold, however, the owner harped on this point repeatedly. She will likely respond to this review and say that no one else who drank from the same batches of juice reported being sick and that's a really good thing, but it does not change the fact that I did. She will likely say that I chose a 3-day delivery rather than the recommended daily pickup, however, it was the first day of the cleanse. When I told her that I intended to leave a negative review, I was told that she wasn't sure she wanted to be in business because of people like me and my reviews. The only thing I can say to that is that it won't be negative reviews that put a company out of business, it will be the complete lack of customer service and the owner's inability to realize that despite her convictions, I may have actually been right in this instance and that a little compassion and compromise can go a long way. While the food poisoning was unfortunate, the owner's attitude will ensure that I never return and will tell everyone I meet to do the same. read more
