If I could give 0 stars I would. We booked the pirate cupcake truck 6 months in advance for our wedding. I communicated back and forth through email with Laura, the owner, leading up to the event. I had both her truck and a food truck booked for my wedding. The experiences with the two were night and day. The pirate cupcake company completely screwed us 10 days before our wedding. We were not able to do a tasting of the cupcakes prior to the wedding because we were unable to travel the distance to where the truck was doing events and that was the only way to taste the cupcakes. We were totally okay with this and still agreed to proceed with booking and gave a $50 deposit. 10 days before our wedding I reached out to Laura to confirm some details. I was not looking to make any changes to our agreement. Laura responded to our email by saying she felt we were not on the same page with the event and she would have to return our deposit and back out of catering our wedding. She also mentioned she was a teacher and very busy since it was September. I was absolutely floored and furious that she would back out 10 days before a wedding when we had booked 6 months in advance and for seemingly no valid reason. I tried to explain that we were "on the same page" and I was only trying to confirm some of the details. I was the most easy going bride and I never thought this would happen or that a company would do something so terrible to a customer. Anyone who has ever planned a wedding knows how difficult it is to book vendors, etc. The pirate cupcake company left us high and dry with very little time to come up with another food truck or dessert option. I reached out to every possible dessert truck in the Lehigh valley however no one was able to do it with 10 days notice. Luckily my mother was able to save the day and brought cupcakes from a great company called Blue Crab Cupcakes in Maryland. However we were disappointed as our goal was to have a food truck at the wedding to serve desserts. I myself am also a teacher and understand how back to school time can be very busy, however if you are a teacher who also runs a business and you can't handle doing events in September then you shouldn't be booking events, taking deposits, and agreeing to cater during that time. I have never been so appalled with how someone "runs their business". Extremely unprofessional and downright wrong to back out of a contract like that, last minute. I am lucky we were able to come up with something or there would have been no dessert at the wedding. I'm sure the cupcakes are decent but I would strongly advise against anyone booking the Pirate Cupcake truck for any event as you never know when the owner might just back out and cancel on you days before the event. DO NOT RECOMMEND. Through my experience I found many other local food trucks that were professional, great at communicating, and wouldn't screw over a customer like The Pirate Cupcake company did. read more
