I called Jonny Friday near closing time desperately trying to get my guitar set up before the…read moreChristmas holiday as it was killing my fingers. I had been in St. George earlier that day and had to leave due to a family emergency; when I came back all the music stores were closed save one: Dixie Guitar King. Jonny was attentive to my needs and stayed open late for me to drop off my guitar. When I arrived, he took my guitar and immediately started in on figuring out what was wrong with it. Further, he said he would stay late that evening to get it all taken care of for pickup the next day. On my way home, about an hour and a half after I left the store he called me to tell me my guitar was finished, and I could pick it up the next day. When I got to the store the following day (today) Jonny told me what he'd found, a twisted neck and some nut, and saddle height issues. He cleaned up my guitar and even did some edging on the frets at no additional charge. Finally, he made sure before I left, while swarmed with other customers, that my guitar was comfortable to play. He recommended a guitar humidifier (which I agreed to purchase), and he had already placed in my guitar after it was finished with water in it. This was by far the BEST customer service I've ever received. Ever. If you need a guitar shop for repairs, or to buy, this is THE place. Jonny knows what he's doing, and he'll take great care of you!

If you're like most people, when you think of St. George, you think of red rocks and warm weather…read more But do you also think of pioneer homes and little gems of Utah history? If not, you might want to take another look. In the downtown area, a lot of work has gone in to preserving old historic buildings. Back in the 90's, Woodward was also known as the "sixth grade center" where kids from all the neighboring elementary schools were bussed for that one year of their education before graduating to middle school. The buildings were old and FULL of character. Today, those buildings are repurposed into different things-it's no longer the campus for just one school. The grounds are immaculately kept and you'll find a lovely water feature, art exhibits and even a carousel in the park. Take a walk across the street to Judd's store. That old building houses some of the finest treats and breadsticks in town. It's surrounded by other historic buildings as well. Lot's of Mormon pioneer history down here. This is a pretty cool little part of town-and full of stories. Do yourself a favor and check it out next time you are passing through.
