Over that time, we worked with multiple veterinarians here and spent thousands of dollars, so we genuinely believed there was a level of mutual trust and respect. In the past, the clinic had shown some flexibility when large bills came up, which we appreciated as loyal, long-term customers. However, our most recent visit completely changed our perception. We were quoted $254 for routine blood and urine testing, which is already on the higher side. When we asked for just a couple of days to settle the payment--something that had been accommodated before--we were unexpectedly refused. Instead, we were pressured at the front desk to apply for a credit line on the spot, and we were not allowed to leave until we addressed the payment situation. The experience felt incredibly uncomfortable, forced, and frankly disrespectful. After years of loyalty and significant financial commitment, being treated this way was shocking. It felt like the clinic no longer values its long-term clients and has shifted toward a rigid, impersonal, and customer-unfriendly approach. Between the high pricing and the way this situation was handled, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. This was, without question, one of the worst experiences we've had at any veterinary clinic. We will not be returning.

I have had several animals vetted there prior to change in ownership and they were wonderful. Even helped me with my semi feral cat who gets bad allergy breakouts. They vetted him by picture and it worked. Otherwise, I have to trap the poor kitty with a coon trap. New vet won't prescribe the medication (saying it's illegal / a steroid) unless he is seen. Won't to do it with pictures even though we've been treating him for years this way (he's indoor for 9 years but still won't be picked up). So the cat gets to suffer OR be mentally anguished by being trapped. I guess the original vet wasn't worried about jail time. He was worried for the animal. Will be taking ALL my animals elsewhere going forward.

He always falls asleep in the car on the way home which means he played hard all day. It's convenient for me to drop him off on my way to work. They are open til 6:30pm in the evenings so even if I have to stay a little later at work, I can still make it by to pick him up. They offer day care packages so you can get a bit of a discount if you multiple visits in advance.

I noticed my dog's food bags had maybe 10% gone. I know some dogs may be nervous and not eat, but that and the wrapped bones still in the bag?? Also my pooch came home with scrapes of some sort on her chin- they could have at least told us. They have a live camera where you can check in online, each time I did all the like-size dogs were inside together in a playroom. Note that playtime is paid for, separate from boarding fee. They didn't change it up for variety with good weather, low effort. I am left feeling sad for my dog and irritated at the incompetence and wish I had trusted a different boarding facility. As a loving pet owner do not trust this business!

Shih-Tzu, and we had to do something with her while we went to the track. I found Dogtopia on the internet and it sounded ideal for keeping her for the day. I set a time for a meet and greet which was scheduled the day of boarding. We arrived and filled out paperwork. We noticed a large room with maybe 30 dogs of all different breeds and sizes. We were told this was not normal as they usually separate large and small dogs. Anyway, they asked us to sit for a few minutes while they judged how our dog would fit in. We were informed our dog failed their test and they would not be able to keep her. We were told our dog actually bit (nipped) the employee and did not interact well with the other dogs. Our Shih-Tzu does suffer from anxiety, and she does get aggressive when frightened. In that environment, there is no doubt she would be scared. I don't doubt anything the employee said but we told him she was crate trained and I noticed two small dogs in crates. It blows my mind while they didn't keep her in the crate for the 6-7 hours they kept her. Needless to say, we did not get to Keeneland and headed back to South Carolina a day early. We did not get a chance to comment on the care at Dogtopia. Please be aware if you decide to use their services, there is a Pass/Fail test as part of the meet and greet. In addition, we used the services of a doggie daycare in Myrtle Beach, SC when our dog was several months old. What we observed at Dogtopia did not measure up to the standards of the Myrtle Beach facility.

We went and checked out the K9 Safari facility and were impressed with the spaces provided for the dogs to play both inside and outside. Despite the facility being in Richmond, Marlize makes drop off and pick up convenient for clients by offering drop offs right off I75 or at various locations in Lexington. My two Shepherds get excited when they see the doggie bus pull in and they hop right in. That tells me they are happy there and I don't feel bad having to leave them when we go on vacation. She regularly sends pics of the dogs to us via text so we can see how much fun they are having there. I often say our one Shepherd is actually sad when she has to come home because she only has one dog to play with at home vs lots and lots of different dogs there. I recommend K9 Safari to everyone who is looking for somewhere to board their pups.
