My dog immediately choked up kibble, and within about 30 minutes of getting him back to my hotel, I had to request input from my vet back home and immediately take him to the ER Vet where he had to spend the next almost two days. He had aspiration pneumonia. They of course denied the entire thing and when I went in to view the camera footage they had, they had a clip of the footage that was about 1:30 seconds long that had been cut to not show me going over to my dog where he has choked kibble up. I called immediately when I got to the hotel room, as I didn't want to react immediately due to the emotion involved. They of course have denied everything. I've stayed quiet about this incident for almost a year now because I honestly thought maybe they'd own up to their (maybe) mistake and do what was right and help cover what I had to pay for. I am active duty military and have to travel to Lexington frequently for clinical. I trusted this business with my furchildren and they failed. I just truly hope that next time this happens, the outcome isn't different. Had I waited until the next day to take my pup to the vet, he most likely would not have survived. Within hours he was on oxygen at the ER vet. I've been dealing with their insurance company since January and they will not be covering anything. This is honestly, the outcome that I expected, as both Uptown Hounds and The Hanover Group did not display much professionalism. The worst part is, they won't even refund me the amount of services that I paid for and will never receive for my dogs. I truly hope no one else has to deal with this situation.

The staff are so kind and flexible with travel changes (if you need to pick up earlier or stay an extra night) which is really helpful when flying. They have a great pre-check feature where you can give a lot of detail on your dog's stay. I typically send toys that I don't mind losing just as a precaution, but they've never lost anything I've sent with my dog and everything comes back neatly packed in his bag. I don't worry about my baby at all while he is at Uptown.

Since it was my first time going, the owner Phyllis gave me the rundown: there are three self serve tubs with different shampoos and condtioners. The tubs are raised and have a hose, which is nice, so you can easily stand while you give your dog a bath. Pet Paws is $15-per-dog, the price isn't contingent on time- a good deal for bigger dogs, maybe not as much for smaller ones. They also have a dryer station with different brushes for after the wash. What I like about Pet Paws is the convenience- its nice to be able to wash your dog and not have to deal with the "clean up" afterward- cleaning up the tub and washing the towels- all that jazz. Definitely will be back to Pet Paws!

I could go to Cincinnati or Louisville or there is one that travels to Georgetown periodically that they would put me in touch with. They said it would be expensive $4500+ and it would be 2 weeks before he could do it. If I couldn't afford it then they said I could do nothing and it would just hang there with no use or amputate! I refused to believe there was no one else!! Lexington?! Really?!? So in a panic I started calling vets to see if I could get referrals for a vet that does orthopedic surgery and I got several diff referrals and was waiting for callbacks when I called the Animal Care Clinic in Lexington. Lori answered the phone right away and was so kind and helped calm me down then she said "let me call the Dr and I will call you right back." I sent her images for Bailey's leg and figured it would be awhile but within 5 min she called me back and said "the Dr said come in the morning and he will take a look and that he thought he could help her." I literally cried! The next morning I walked into the office. I was amazed!!! There wasn't room full of people and their pets in an overcrowded waiting room. It was like walking into a very nice hospital! It was decorated so nicely! It was clean and organized! I immediately was greeted by Ms. Christina at reception and she took me straight to a room. Lori came in and then Dr. Schroyer. He examined Bailey and sat down and explained her injury, how he would repair it, recovery time etc. I was worried it was going to be a fortune but he was so much more affordable! It made it possible for us to afford it. The surgery went great. We went home and the office would call periodically to check on her progress between follow-up visits. Animal Care Clinic was the ABSOLUTE BEST clinic I have ever been to!! Working with rescues I have seen quite a few clinics so I can say with confidence you will not be disappointed with Animal Care Clinic!!! We stop by just to say hi when we're are in Lex!! She runs in so excited to see everyone!!! I figured she would be afraid to go in but even today she gets so excited!!! A dog being happy to go to the vet's office after surgery?!??! That should say it all!!! Bailey is great today and we want to thank the entire Animal Care Clinic, Dr. Schroyer and the entire staff!!! They are part of our family now!!

All I have to say to anyone thinking about using this place is, "caveat emptor" (i.e., buyer…read morebeware). I had an emergency and had to leave town for two days. While both of my dogs needed booster vaccinations, I did not think that the cost would be such a big deal since both of my dogs were medically "up to date" in the Spring. When I picked up my two dogs, my bill for 2 days for 2 dogs + boosters was $1,500. That's right, $1,500. Shame on everyone who works at this place and takes advantage of desperate people. I can only hope that my words of warning can save another pet family from this outrageous abuse.
