I reach out to Kelly in an attempt to get my son's emotional support dog in for puppy training. While explaining the need for my puppy I also gave Kelly background on my son's need to have an emotional support animal. She was so warm and welcoming of the situation and throughout the entire training communication was more then I ever dreamed of . Besides my own personal experience Kelly has a heart of gold and is passionate about her ability to do what she does. Its shows through her character , work ethic , and communication. It is money well spent and hard to find good souls such as hers I wouldn't want my animals in any one else hands (nor my son ) he also became more open and social and if got him out of his room and smiling more.

Manners Matter Dog Training and Daycare

As someone who participates regularly in dog training and canine performance activities, I've had…read morean excellent experience with Manners Matter and highly recommend them to anyone looking for professional dog training in the Lexington area. My beagle, Thea, has completed two classes so far: the Manners Matter foundational training class and Intro to Scent Work. She is about to begin Advanced Scent Work, and she has also participated in the Canine Performance Club where we work on training homework, build conditioning and fitness, and introduce her to different performance sports. What stands out most about Manners Matter is their training philosophy. The environment is supportive and fear free, the classes are intentionally small, and the trainers are knowledgeable professionals who truly put the dogs' wellbeing first. They also take the time to explain the "why" behind the training, which has helped me become a better handler and better understand how my dog learns. One thing I especially appreciate is that Manners Matter focuses on building a strong foundation in dog training rather than rushing ahead and setting dogs and their owners up for frustration or failure. That thoughtful approach makes a huge difference and you can clearly see it in the confidence and progress the dogs develop over time. I have a beagle, and scent hounds can be independent thinkers that easily get themselves into trouble without the right structure and training. When I tell people I have a beagle, the common reaction is often "I could never have a beagle because they're loud, stubborn, and don't listen." I love when people meet Thea and see what consistent training can accomplish. My response is always that you get out of the situation what you put into it. Thea has had an incredibly positive experience in both obedience training and scent work classes, and I've watched her grow into a confident, well balanced dog. She is only a year and a half old and the progress she has made has been amazing. Good dog trainers you can trust with the care of your dog are not easy to find. I drive 45 minutes to attend classes at Manners Matter and it is absolutely worth it for the peace of mind and quality of training we receive. My goal is to be able to take Thea anywhere and know she has the temperament and skills to handle those environments, and this training has played a huge role in making that possible.

It said it was 22 beautiful acres on Kentucky river. I thought it would be nice to go sit and enjoy the evening with friends and watch our dogs swim. Talk about puffing. It is not beautiful, not even pretty, did not see river anywhere, the pool is in the middle of a cow field, and there are no restrooms, have to use porta potty. It was hot, dusty, stinky and not relaxing. Then the weird part, seems from the conversations with other people, this business is not suppose to be there, zoning or something, but is because the owner knows a few people, but the neighbors do not want the business there. After going there, I can see why, anyway, the owner was telling everybody that when your dog jumps in the pool, stand up, shout and scream as loud as you can so that it aggravates the neighbors. That seemed to be the goal of the evening. They were upset because the neighbors filed a lawsuit or something. Sounded pretty childish to me. A few "regulars" kept doing as she asked. I don't know about ya'll, but I have respect for my neighbors. Somebody even said that one of the dog trainers ran over and killed one of the neighbors dogs, that would make me upset too. I will not go back. Don't want to get involved in law suits or whatever is going on down there. Not very professional of a business owner to use her clients for the purpose of causing problems for the surrounding neighbors.

He was a little nervous on his first day but quickly warmed up to his trainer, Dakota. At the end of each week, you go in and are given a lesson going over what your dog has learned. Sit, lay, heel and place are just a few of the commands he learned. Our walks are MUCH calmer and we work on what he learned often. Sadly, our dog Remy(white shepherd mix pictured with Rich and my wife) died last year from a sudden heart attack. I'm posting pictures from video as she's being trained to assist going up & down stairs. It's my opinion that even if you just try basic obedience, a trained owner and dog adds to the wonderful experience of canine ownership! We feel blessed having found Double H and Rich Hardin.

The first trainer I hired unknowingly made the situation worse and I despaired of ever being able to help this girl. I found Lexington Dog Trainer, finally, and was ecstatic when she called me back and told me she has 40 years of experience working with dogs with behavioral issues. I felt hope for the first time for this pup. 5 weeks later my lil girl is finally able to see Lin's training dogs model not only how to follow her instruction, but also how to properly interact with other dogs. In time she will also learn better social behavior with people, as she watch how Carlie stood still and let people pat her. For my pup, this behavioral training is literally saving her life. When a dog is abused they carry a paralyzing fear inside their mind that if left alone lon enough it will destroy every chance for that dog to stay in a loving home. My pup started growing more fearful and aggressive that it was coming down to an inevitable euthanasia. I am beyond thankful to Lin and feel that she is an angel sent by God to help this poor girl to have a second chance at life!

Shih-Tzu, and we had to do something with her while we went to the track. I found Dogtopia on the internet and it sounded ideal for keeping her for the day. I set a time for a meet and greet which was scheduled the day of boarding. We arrived and filled out paperwork. We noticed a large room with maybe 30 dogs of all different breeds and sizes. We were told this was not normal as they usually separate large and small dogs. Anyway, they asked us to sit for a few minutes while they judged how our dog would fit in. We were informed our dog failed their test and they would not be able to keep her. We were told our dog actually bit (nipped) the employee and did not interact well with the other dogs. Our Shih-Tzu does suffer from anxiety, and she does get aggressive when frightened. In that environment, there is no doubt she would be scared. I don't doubt anything the employee said but we told him she was crate trained and I noticed two small dogs in crates. It blows my mind while they didn't keep her in the crate for the 6-7 hours they kept her. Needless to say, we did not get to Keeneland and headed back to South Carolina a day early. We did not get a chance to comment on the care at Dogtopia. Please be aware if you decide to use their services, there is a Pass/Fail test as part of the meet and greet. In addition, we used the services of a doggie daycare in Myrtle Beach, SC when our dog was several months old. What we observed at Dogtopia did not measure up to the standards of the Myrtle Beach facility.
