I live in Easton, so driving back was not an option. They sell Dubal chocolate bars, but they don't fill them with pistachio. Not sure what they fill them with, but it's definitely not pistachio! (save your money on that one and buy online!) All in all, Reppert's is a nice, old fashioned, family owned store and is worth a visit if you're in the area.

I went to Macy's the other day and they were selling the 2lb bag for $30! Like maybe we should start setting the U.S. dollar on the jelly belly standard. But I digress. The point is that you can buy jelly bellies here, but only the ones that you want.

For example, I spent about $10 on a couple scoops of ice cream and didn't receive a greeting, a smile, or even a "thank you." The young man serving me wore gloves and had beautifully painted fingernails, but the experience felt unwelcoming. He also seemed bored and disengaged, as if he would rather have been somewhere else. Perhaps that was true. I also want to note that saying "have a good day" is not a substitute for saying "thank you." Customers should feel appreciated for their business, not just processed through a transaction. I don't blame the individual employee as much as management. A simple hello when customers walk in and a genuine thank you after payment would go a long way toward enhancing the overall experience. With just a little attention to customer service, this place could be outstanding.

First of all, I had to get several of the retro postcards that they sell. The artwork is so charming I can't resist and I always feel like I have to share it with others. And it changes each season so you really can learn about greeting card history by looking at the cute details of the art and the postcard. Chloe was very kind and she knew the history behind a marshmallow caramel chocolate that they sell, especially at this confectionary. Another thing I like to pick up is one of their gingerbread cookies. They are hand pressed and I just feel so spoiled to get to enjoy this beautiful and very special cookie. Thank you all so much for all your hard work. You make such wonderful treats and are also a tour guide of your historical shop. You're historians on chocolate and this city. The ice cream isn't homemade so not sure why it was expensive. The other drinks and candy were reasonably priced. The name of the chain is a reference to Grandpa Joe from Roald Dahl's 1964 children's book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". After the success of the original 900-square-foot store in Pittsburgh, other locations began to pop up in the surrounding areas. Each one is stocked with over 250 candy bar varieties, nostalgic candies, 250 flavors of old-fashioned glass-bottled sodas, and even novelty gifts. As of this writing, Grandpa Joe's has 21 locations spread out over five states (mainly Pennsylvania and Ohio). My family and I visited the Grandpa Joe's location in Bethlehem (opened October 2019) this past summer while we were visiting relatives in the area. We came across the storefront as we were exploring Main Street. We really liked the name of the shop as well as all of the decor. The interior was loaded with every conceivable candy variety that you could think of: chocolate bars, jelly beans, gummies, hard candies, gum, fudge, lollipops, taffy, etc. Many of the candies were ones that I haven't seen, or even thought about, in many years. They also had quite a few novelty and gag gifts. My wife and I let our sons pick out a few chocolate candies to take back home. What really impressed me was the large selection of old-fashioned sodas that were in stock. One of my favorite soda brands is "Sioux City", though I often have trouble finding them. Grandpa Joe's had the largest selection of Sioux City sodas that I've ever seen under one roof. I made myself a mixed six-pack to take home.
