Short summary: This group will do a poor hack job of repairs, and will either try to swindle you and steal from you by giving you cheaper parts than what you paid for, or do a poor job due to ignorance. Even if my experience with hardware failing is just bad luck, it doesn't change the fact that they will try to steal from you.
So after a terrible experience at one repair chain in the area I figured I would try a local top rated place and everything would be fine! right? WRONG. The "repair" was done pretty fast, which I was really happy about. When I got home, the new wireless card worked fine at first, but as I moved to different locations, (locations which I had previously gotten a signal before no problem) I noticed that my laptop could barley get the network. Long story short, I looked up the wireless card they installed and noticed a major discrepancy, after being told I would pay no mark up on the price of parts, I was charged close to $40 for a $12 card. When I confronted the store about this the guy on the phone hung up on me, and called me back 10 min later and told me to come in for a refund (totally not suspicious right?). So I get there and ask for the card I paid for to be installed, which I was informed they didn't even have a card like that in the store (if that isn't a smoking gun for them trying to swindle and steal from me than I don't know what is). So at this point I just wanted my computer and just took the refund. Fast forward a couple weeks (maybe 2 or 3), the bad card they installed no longer works, I have already updated and reinstalled drivers, and tried to fix them in every way possible but to no avail. One wireless card failing is uncommon and unfortunate, but not unreasonable. But another failing after only weeks of use? in light of other information that clearly shows that this store will lie and try to steal from you it isn't unreasonable to assume that this is a discount garbage piece of hardware that was probably bought for a nickle from some guy, and probably is not the wireless card that it supposedly is. Even if this card is indeed what it claims, and it's failure is the result of software, this failure is probably the result of incompatibility with the OS (windows 10). To use this piece of equipment means the store is cheap and doesn't care about their customers, or they are ignorant and did not even check to see if the computer and the hardware were compatible. I will never bring any of my business to the PC guys ever again, and will not drive any amount of business to them. read more
