My wife ordered the Chicken Primavera with gluten free penne, featuring grilled chicken, pesto, and carrots. It was excellent and easily the standout dish of the evening. I had the grilled salmon, which was cooked well and was also very good. As always, we put restaurants through a bit of a stress test. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I manage Alpha Gal syndrome, a tree nut allergy, and diabetes. The kitchen was able to accommodate the gluten free pasta request, which we appreciated. The atmosphere is one of the restaurant's biggest strengths. The historic building and the old photographs covering the walls make for a fun dining experience and really add to the character of the place. Service was just okay. Nothing was wrong, but it also wasn't particularly memorable. One thing worth knowing before you go: the restaurant adds a 4% surcharge for credit card payments, so if you'd rather avoid the extra fee, bring cash. Overall, we will probably pick something else a try if we return to Deadwood. Worth it if you are heading there just for the historic atmosphere. It's a great stop if you're spending time in Deadwood.

We made reservations at the deadwood Social Club and when you walk in, it's as advertised. You walk into Saloon 10 and then take an elevator to the 2nd floor to get to the Social Club. While in SD I figured this was the perfect time to try and real bison steak and I did. You can tell it was not beef but it was delicious. The loaded baked potato was also delicious. Their signature cocktail menu included many different options. If you're ever in Deadwood, I highly suggest stopping by there. The service is also amazing.

So my husband and I had an awesome experience at Sabatino's in downtown Rapid City…read more The space is beautifully appointed and we had a lovely boat and a fun server (really nice guy with a relaxed, casual vibe in a dark ballcap whose name escapes me - but we were there Tuesday evening, September 1 and he walked me through the wine like a pro and gave me a sample of the Argentine Malbec, which I landed on as it was outstanding). Very nice wine list! My husband and I were both craving cream based pasta so he had the classic fettuccine Alfredo and I had a fabulous green base tortellini with a blue cheesy sauce that was absolutely divine. Oh and we also shared a phenomenal beet salad and their bread set up with the olive oil and balsamic was fresh and delicious and the perfect compliment to dinner. While we did not have dessert, they had some lovely-sounding tiramisu and gelato - definitely on the docket for next trip. We would highly recommend this lovely Italian restaurant in downtown Rapid City for a night out when you are craving good Italian food! We had a five star experience ***** We will definitely be back soon!!

We ate at Sabatino's our first night in town. The wait staff was very kind and prompt, and the…read moreambiance was great. Our water was quickly replenished and food served quickly. However, the main purpose (the meal) left a lot... quite a lot.. to be desired. The complimentary bread was stale and dry, and was a square style bread. It wasn't sourdough, focaccia or ciabatta, I really couldn't put my finger on it but wasn't appetizing. It was also served on a stained wood cutting/serving board which immediately turned me away from it. My husband gave it a go and gave the above feedback. The pasta, while al dente (my husband noted his was actually too al dente) was unfortunately really bland. Typically when I come across this, I can make with salt and pepper or chili flakes in this instance to make it more appealing, but that wasn't the case here. It just seemed overall the quality of ingredients were low and the meal was bland. I was looking for garlic, olive oil or something to add flavor in our dishes (he got a seafood pasta and I got a pomodoro with meatballs) The meatball portion was truly underwhelming. While not dry, completely lacking in flavor. Just a really soft texture with ground beef taste and nothing quite else. I couldn't quite taste the tomato in any part of either of our dishes. While I understand there could be a thought that it was meant to be a more "authentic" style as written in a prior review, one of the key components when making an "authentic" anything is quality ingredients and unfortunately this was not the case here. While convenient and cost-effective to source from Sysco or U.S. Foods, pricing above $20 a plate for a pasta dish that doesn't have flavor is a disappointing experience for most diners. At minimum, we would've loved a better quality bread, a more fresh, flavorful sauce for my husband and I's dishes, and for the noodles to be cooked in salted pasta water or until no longer crunchy. I got about 5 bites in before I unfortunately gave up on the dish. I'll give the same tip I give to all with flavor concerns: taste the food you're serving. If you find it doesn't meet at least 1 of the 5 pillars of taste (salt, fat, acid, heat, umami) then I recommend some tweaks!

Yes I expected more based on other reviews. I would say solid food. The fried items we got (wings and shrimp) weren't greasy. The trash can nachos were probably the best. The sandwiches were the worst. Maybe it's because I'm not a hoagie fan? We asked if they had different bread but they didn't. Your average store bought hoagie roll, toasted up so they tear up your mouth. Deli sliced meat on the turkey sandwich. French dip au jus tasted straight out of a can. Fries just tasted like reheated frozen fries. Like I say, it'll feed your fam, but you probably won't miss any sleep never coming back. Service was, interesting.
