A functional training rack with battle ropes and boxing! Many more machines and cardio equipment. Really a great gym in the city centre. They also have 10 pin bowling! About 8 lanes and a full stocked and licensed bar with food! I personally think it's a good deal price wise. About £5 to bowl £3 a beer. They have a coffee breakfast combo. I M yet to eat here. There is also a new rock climbing and kids soft play. I have never used either. I did however use the old bouldering gym and for a novice like me I found it really good! Worth checking out!

Plus there is no air conditioning and the place is like an oven. I have been taking my girls swimming for about a year now because of convenience and it never gets any better. The place is filthy. The changing rooms are disgusting, they are never regularly checked and I have not seen them cleaned once. On my latest visit (25.8.17) I had a member of reception be totally rude, a fitness team member scream like a banshee at me across the room because I walked through the barrier instead of the turnstile (a disgusting way to speak to anyone let alone a customer) there was wet swim nappies on the floor when I first went in the changing rooms. I took my girl to the toilet (also filthy) wet toilet roll on the floor in each cubicle and the entire floor soaked. When going back into the changing room to get dry I pulled the baby change down to dry my 1year old and 3 wet urine soaked nappies on the tray. Bins are totally sticky with hairs stuck on and full to the top. I was there at 9.30am. Clearly hadn't been emptied from the day before. I would urge anyone not to use this leisure centre and go elsewhere if possible.

It is nicely located by the seaside and although it is not the most upmarket of venues, this tends to be reflected in the ticket prices which makes it a lot more affordable than other theatres in the area. I have only been to a couple of performances but it is a more intimate venue you so get a great view from wherever you are sitting/standing! I guess this is the upside of seeing performances at smaller venues. Obviously there are no big name performers - more like local drama groups and singers - but I have thoroughly enjoyed everything that I have seen there. It is well worth seeing what is on if you are staying in the area.

There are relaxation beds which stretch your muscles alongside the more traditional machines like steppers, rowers and bikes and the centre also offers a large range of classes to really get you fit. Such as yoga, step and general keep fit. It is open late so is very convenient if you want to visit after a hard day at work.

Killingworth Lakeside Park is a lovely local escape, with, as its name suggests, a good-sized Lake…read moreat its centre! The Lake is a well-stocked resource for local fishermen, and there is a lot of lovely wildlife to see in and around the park. You'll regularly see wildlife photographers taking snaps. Check out the visitors boards describing the wildlife around the park. The park also has a model boating club, a small café shack (open only during popular hours) and a good play area for kids, with a wire slide, roundabout and other apparatus to keep the nippers amused. There is ample parking for visitors, and it's a good walk around the lake. In short, I love visiting the park here to take a walk, relax and unwind! How lovely to have these kinds of parks on our doorstep.
