The Rogue is a magnificent river with never a dull moment. One minute you are hanging on for dear life, and the next minute you are reeling in steel-heads and rainbows. Garrett Helfrich was all that I hoped for in a guide. His ability on the oars made it all exciting, yet safe. My wife settled down after the first few rapids after she saw just how skilled he was. She said that she felt safe with him on on the oars. The entire adventure was a blast. The bite was a little slow, but we worked hard at the right spots and landed many fish. As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "I'll be back!"

Our guides--Peter, Anna, Kristen, and Jonas--were ideal leaders and companions: friendly, skilled, professional, and hard-working. The lodges were a treat, especially at the end of a rainy day, and the food at all of them was excellent. I only wish that the trail-hiking option (hiking along the river trail while the rafts floated) was more clearly explained in WRE's website info, I would have brought hiking boots if I had known about that option.

Steve and Sam did a great job navigating us down the river, avoiding all the submerged logs and pointing out points of interest and animals and birds.
