We received no proactive updates, had to follow up multiple times, and the last time we heard from you privately was January 5th -- yet you are responding publicly here. You state you offered to cover vet costs, but also describe the refund as a generous gesture. If the refund was meant to resolve everything, that was never communicated. We followed up based on what we were told. You also did NOT check in about how my dog was doing, you only replied because I send you the vet bills. When I arrived to pick him up, he was dirty, injured, and clearly not himself. He didn't look happy at all, and that was really hard to see. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It wasn't just a quick scrape, he had multiple injuries that weren't fully explained to us. The owner only mentioned injuries to his paws. When I pointed out the injury to his testicles, he seemed shocked and had no idea it had happened. We were only told about his paws injury that happened while he was put in a cage and got stuck in the cage. That told me[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] my dog wasn't fully checked after the fight and according to the owner he does not know how long he was stuck like that or how it even happened. Throughout his stay, I barely got any updates, just one and only after we double-texted. Before the stay, I sent a long email with important information about my dog's needs and it was never acknowledged. Communication overall was extremely poor. When we talked in person, he thanked me for keeping my composure and being nice about the situation. The truth is, I stayed calm because I didn't want to cause a scene on Christmas Eve but inside I was furious about what happened to our family member. Any dog owner would've felt the same way. To be fair, he did refund us for the boarding costs, and I appreciate that. But the core issue was the lack of communication and not being properly informed about what happened or all the injuries my dog came home with. Later, when I reached out regarding reimbursement for the vet bills and medication, I was told my tone felt intense and that he was dealing with a broken car window. I understand people have personal things going on, but that shouldn't be used to deflect responsibility or avoid responding when someone's pet was injured in their care. After reading other reviews, I realized my experience wasn't isolated. Several people mentioned unreported injuries, minimal updates, and hygiene concerns. It seems like a pattern, not just a one-time mistake. My dog might have enjoyed parts of his stay but none of that erases the fact that I was not notified immediately when something serious happened. I left my dog at The Pack boarding for five nights from August 28 to September 2. He had attended their daycare four times the month before. My dog is a five-year-old mixed breed who has a loud bark and gets nervous easily. He likes people but mostly ignores other dogs. While he never seemed completely comfortable there, I believed in Randy and trusted him with my dog's care. I waited to calm down before writing this review. I was upset. I already discussed all these problems with Randy, and he refunded my money without me having to ask. While I appreciate that gesture, my primary concern is my dog's safety and well-being, not the financial aspect. Here are the five main problems I encountered: 1. Poor Communication and Response Times The day I dropped him off, I had difficulty getting him inside, so I went in to help. I asked if I could remove his collar and was told yes. When I did, Archie escaped and got outside. Thankfully, he has good recall, so I was able to get him to come back. This incident left me on edge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The following day, around noon, I called and texted to check on my dog and confirm they had removed his collar as requested. Nobody responded for over four hours. When someone finally called back, they simply told me "he was great and they were experienced and could take care of Archie." This dismissive response only increased my concerns, but since I was out of the country, I felt powerless and stopped reaching out until my return day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]On pickup day, I texted around 2:00 PM to let them know I wouldn't arrive until 9:30 PM due to flight delays and asked if that pickup time would work. No one responded. I called when I landed, when I got to my car, and when I pulled up to the facility. No one ever answered. I finally picked him up at 9:17 PM.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2. Medication Not Administered I had packed his food in 10 separate bags with his anxiety pills (broken in half) included for each meal. When I picked him up, they returned 3 unused pills and 2 bags of food, meaning they failed to give him his medication at least 3 times. Randy couldn't explain why this happened. He did say he would address this with his staff. 3. Failed to Follow Care Instructions I specifically told them before leaving that my dog tries to pull off his collar when unobserved and injures himself in the process. They assured me they would remove it, but they left it on the entire time. He had scratches on his neck when I picked him up. They even sent me videos that clearly showed he was still wearing his collar. 4. Poor Hygiene and Cleanliness My dog was dirty when I retrieved him, with dried feces stuck to his bottom and back legs. They explained he had diarrhea from being nervous and said they had cooked him rice to help with his stomach issues. However, if they were too busy to answer my calls, administer his medication, or follow care instructions, how did they have time to cook rice? This explanation doesn't align with the level of care demonstrated elsewhere. The medication was for his anxiety (nervousness causing the diarrhea). 5. Unreported Injuries My dog had cuts and scratches on his snout that weren't present when I dropped him off. When I asked what happened, they suggested he "might have scuffled with another dog or scratched himself trying to stick his nose through the gate." No one informed me that he had been injured during his stay. They are almost healed, a total of four punctures. Conclusion While Randy was responsive to my calls after I picked up my dog, it was too late. The core issues were poor communication, failure to administer prescribed medication, not following care instructions, inadequate hygiene maintenance, and unreported injuries. My dog did not receive the level of care I expected and paid for. I will not be returning to The Pack, and I felt compelled to share this experience so other pet owners can make informed decisions. Randy to the rescue! I admit to being hesitant to try "boarding" for Koto, our 2 yo, 26 lb. terrier mix who always received care from a dear friend who stayed in our home whenever we were traveling. Unfortunately he passed away last year. In July 2023 we sch'd a successful "meet and greet" at The Pack followed by a 2-night stay several weeks later. We returned from our road trip to a happy and content Koto! I could not contain my excitement and pleasure. The videos Randy sent of Koto playing with a variety of "littles" was heartwarming and I could feel her excitement and joy sharing fun times w/new canine buds, expending energy in a safe/supervised environment and simply being happy! What more could you ask for? We used to put Koto in her crate when we left home bc she chewed the corners of all the coffee table books of our travel adventures, paper, cardboard, rugs and other mischief. Not sure what magic Randy did, but since staying at The Pack we can leave Koto w/full access to our home with absolutely NO evidence of destruction! You can't imagine how much this behavior change means to us. Koto, who was always a bit shy and barky towards people, esp. strangers, has changed her tune for the better since her visits w/Randy and his team at The Pack. The socialization has made a huge difference. Unbelievably, even her recall has improved! Now we have confidence taking her to dine w/us at dog friendly restaurants, etc. and have no issues. Based on our positive experience in Aug, we immediately booked 2 weeks w/Randy for a Dec trip o/seas. That's what you call 4 month "advance planning" and confidence in his compassionate care of Koto! Randy is such a kind soul and I couldn't appreciate him more than I do! He took such great care of my girl Bowie, and after our quick meet and greet (I had a family emergency and Randy was so accommodating and very understanding that I was a bit scattered) I knew and felt to my soul that Bowie was in fantastic hands. She got to meet Fomo the cutest black and white baby (dog) and they became friends. The center was clean and so inviting. When I came back to pick Bowie up she was happily sitting in the window waiting for me. The Pack was a great place for us. Our Luna is really shy and has a tough time with other dogs, and struggles when she's away from us. So we were super anxious about our planned 11-day trip overseas. Randy reassured us before we left, and he went to extraordinary levels to ensure Luna was comfortable and was, eventually, able to interact with the other dogs there. My dog wanted to completely abandon me and move in to The Pack permanently after staying with Randy for only a few days, so yes, I would say it was a success. Smile. On a serious note, I am always nervous to leave Marshawn with anyone because he's a rescue with a traumatic history and while he's super sweet with people he knows, he can be a bit unpredictable with those he does not know. However, Randy was very kind to Marshawn and sent me video of him during the second day of his stay and that really eased my nerves. I was grateful to Randy for being willing to care for a dog with fear issues, and for helping me to feel comfortable. The price was affordable and the pick up and drop off times were flexible which was very helpful because of my work hours and also the hours that we were flying out and coming back.
