Mr Presley stopped by while we were hooking up at our site, looked at our license plate and said he thought it was California day! We didn't understand what that meant but we were very happy with our campsite!. It had a raised deck and a lovely view of the lake. In the evening we went to the Boathouse Restaurant and had a delicious meal, with large portions at a value price. In the morning we went to pay our camping bill but Me Presley said because it had been "California day" there was no charge. We were speechless ! As a former business owner, I understood overhead and wanted to pay something but Mr Presley adamantly insisted there was no charge. We would still have been raving fans about Presley's outing campground without this display of hospitality and generosity.

I've been passing the Grand Bay Welcome Center, which is a fancy name for a named rest stop, for…read moreyears on my many visits to see my family in the Mobile, AL area. However, this past Saturday was the first time I actually ever stopped there. The welcome center is only 20-25 miles from my final destination, but now that I have a child, every rest is a potential pit stop. Upon walking to the front entrance, I was immediately drawn to the six Honda Gold Wing motorcycles and the one Harley Davidson that were all parked near the front door. It was actually a group of motorcycle enthusiasts handing out pamphlets to remind people to look out for motorcycles; especially since May is Motorcycle Awareness month. They taunted me in a friendly was by shouting "Roll Tide" as they knew I was from Louisiana and probably an LSU fan. They were right and I immediately hollered "go Tigers"! But I digress. As soon as I walked in the door, I was immediately greeted by the cashier welcoming me to Alabama. There was a small gift store inside and it was chock full of people. However, the place was incredibly clean. Heck, even the restrooms were incredibly clean. Chalk one up for Alabama. (the state, not the football team) Now that diaper duty was complete, I headed back to my vehicle, only to be given a courteous goodbye from the cashier. It's nice to know that manners still exist!

Hubs requested a fresh cup, so amazing server brought a new cup ~ but alas, still tepid coffee. Eventually, hubs asked for HOT coffee. The waiter then figured out the cause and rectified the situation ~ so I guess you could add a star back? I reserve the 5 stars for perfection, and despite being close, this wasn't quite there. But guess what?! We're going back this morning! Worth the visit ~ worth the cost!

We stayed in the Marina building and they have balcony rooms with beautiful views from every room. They even provided fishing poles and bait on the pier! The casual dining here is ok, our pizza was cold in the middle and the waitress was slow. Overall I would not eat there. The next morning though, the bartender made delicious Bloody Mary's for us and was very friendly. However, the front hotel staff manager Tanisha was amazing! Very attentive and knew we were from out of town and wanted us to have a perfect stay. Even the valets were very nice and courteous. We would definitely come back as an anniversary stay or a romantic getaway. Love the southern hospitality.

The Mobile Regional Airport is older, hasn't had the updates and modifications that Pensacola International has, but there's something about flying into yesteryear. The airport itself is dated. It's very family friendly with stuff for the kids readily accessible. The airport is small, walkable, easy to navigate. It's relatively clean and everyone I saw was friendly and seemed happy. I like this airport and will likely be back!
