If they are going to have early flights then they need to have all facilities up and running for those passengers. I can't tell you how many times I've used this airport only to have TSA not open until after 4am (for 5am flights) and not have any way to purchase drinks or food. There are two main areas for drinks but neither are ever open early anymore. This was never a problem a few months ago. Not sure what changed. read more

Went for my global entry interview. Was in and out. This airport is extremely small and doesn't have many of the amenities that larger airports have. You still have to make an appointment, but I arrived an hour early and was out in less than 15 minutes. read more

This is an okay airport, considering it's size. Accessing and exiting it are relatively easy. Nothing too complicated here. After you check in thru TSA security, there are no areas to charge your phone or other electronic devices. Ensure that you have a full charge on your phone before going thru security. There is an area around (in front of) TSA security where you may relax with friends, family or fellow passengers. There is a phone and mobile device charging area to the far left. I charged my phone to about 80 plus percent before going thru security. After going thru security, there is a nice gift shop for grabbing last minute gifts for friends or family. It's a nice sized gift shop with a broad selection of books, magazines, t-shirts, postcards, souvenirs, etc... There is a bar area that serves alcoholic beverages and food. Don't expect much out of this airport in terms of amenities. It's practical and gets you where you need to go. I would fly in and out of here again. Loved how I didn't need to wait in line to get thru security. Hope your stay in Mobile is a pleasant one. I very much enjoyed mine! read more

But they have charging work stations... nice seats, and easy to navigate set up, and again the place was CLEAN! As a New Orleans local, I tend to fly primarily out of Louis Armstrong International Airport. However, recently I went on a trip with my sister who lives in Mobile. I found the Mobile airport such a refreshing experience from the chaos of other larger airports. It's small, relatively quiet, and the people there were all pleasant (shout out to Michael at Delta for taking care of us at 3am and getting our spirits up!). If you're looking for all the amenities, stores, and restaurants, you won't find it here. But if you're looking for a gentle way to start off your trip - this is it! Code: MOB Convenient small airport in Mobile AL. We flew in and departed from this little airport. Upon our arrival we proceeded to the baggage carousel area downstairs. While waiting to pick up our luggage, hubby went to the rental car company to check out our reserved car which was just a few yards from the carousel. I like the convenience of the rental companies in the same location. Transaction was seamless, he was back in no time and just in time for the baggage to roll out. Departing from here is also easy. Parked the rental car outside, dropped off keys at the rental counter and just around the elevator got our luggages checked in at the airline ticket counter. Upstairs is the TSA checkpoint which was a little wait since there was only one line. The screeners and agents were nice, though, and kept us moving. Shortly after, we were off to our Gate. Flew out, as I was waiting for my flight, someone stole my camera out of my backpack! So upset. Tried to file a report, airport security didn't want to! Had to place a lost ad, but the website wouldn't allow me to file it. Worst travel experience I've had in decades! DON'T COME HERE! The town is dirty. The "southern hospitality" was a joke. It's a miniature airport dream! When you flown though the biggest and baddest, you can truly appreciate MOB! There are about 7 gates in total, TSA issues and wait times are minuscule (especially when you've got PreCheck), and the agents are friendly. The airport itself is a bit dated and there are no bells and whistles at this airport, but who needs 'em when the time lapse from car to gate is a mere 10 minutes on average?!-- "Not I," said Juliet! Very small airport with only 7 gates and 2 baggage carousels. There is an 8th gate to the right of security, but its decomissioned. For eats, they are very limited. Only the Quiznos outside of security (2nd level), and Cruise City Bar & Grill (inside security by the gates). Gift shops/news stands close early, like 6pm on a weekday. There are 2 bars also, one outside security and one adjacent to Cruise City. Check out the Cruise City Bar where "Queen Elizabeth" will make you one of her soon to be patented cocktails. On the main concourse, there is a small toddler area to play. Outside security, there is a charging area adjacent to the waiting area. Local artifacts are staged all throughout the airport in clear plexiglass cases. read more

Overall, this airport was inadequate for our current personal preferences. We arrived, TSA was great, fast, and easy, we had some food at their only restaurant which was not very appetizing, and the atmosphere was standard with plenty of seating and comfortable air conditioning. However, our Delta flight was cancelled due to IT problems because they are more than likely outsourcing IT. Our cousin, Ryan, flies for Delta and they have been great to us so we think our delays may have been a problem with the airport itself. There were no further arrangements that could possibly be made so we were forced to rent a car to make a 15 hour long trip. They did not have a car ready at Hertz, their only open car rental company, even though our car was reserved online. We had to wait an additional five hours on top of our three hours we waited for our delayed, then canceled flight. The staff was unfriendly and unable to assist us. They would not let us re-enter TSA to get hydration and their only two vending machines were down. The closest mini-mart was over an hour walk and we were forced to drink from an old water fountain. The cherry on top was when I was charging my near-dead phone and I had it for 10 minutes before they pulled the plug on it and all of their outlets stopped working in the airport. They claimed to not know how to fix the problem. The airport was very ghetto and trashy. It seemed the staff was intentionally doing this to people for some sort of rise, especially with the charging station. We finally left dehydrated and unhappy with the worst, ugliest car ever. It was filthy and wreaked even though we opted and paid for the best one. They were not nice and we were most dissatisfied. We would not recommend and we will most certainly not return. read more

What a cute little airport! Everything is very convenient here, including rental car returns which are right outside the airport. There aren't that many gates, so the airport was practically empty when we got there. I loved how they had many tables for us to work on, along with electrical plugs. These tables were right next to a Hudson News (or similar) store, in case a person got hungry, thirsty or bored. The only gripe I have is that they charge $4.50 for a bottle of Smartwater. I know there's a upcharge on airport items but that is pretty crazy. But other than that, nice airport, friendly employees, convenient, and lots of working areas for waiting passengers. read more

I had the ultimate pleasure of flying to Mobile, Alabama on my way to Florida. On my way home, I had the ultimate pleasure of being here for 4 hours waiting for my flight! Here are some thoughts I had while waiting here. ~Sweet Home Alabama! Oh my god, I'm actually inside Alabama...WHO AM I?! ~This airport is so cute! Only 8 gates...is the TSA agent sleeping? Where is everybody?! ~This decor is SO 1980's! If those guys from HGTV were here, they'd rip up this dreaded tiled floor and lack-luster rainbow carpet and put something new and clean in. ~*After checking in* I have the option of taking the later flight in exchange for a $150 airline coupon. Very tempting. Could I survive 7 hours at this airport? Let the games begin! ~Let's see...I have 1 bar I could drink at (FIRST TO REVIEW SUCKASSS!), a quiznos, and 1 magazine stand. These 7 hours could go by reeeaaalll slow... ~At least there's free wi-fi! Save me Facebook Friends! ~Ahh crap, it's 7am in California, no one's awake. ~None of the outlets by the couches work...I guess I'll have to go somewhere else... ~The outlet in the kid's area works! Now let me just sit in this rocking chair meant for a 2 ft tall kid and squeeze into it... ~This is perfect! These TSA guys wouldn't last a day at LAX or SFO. ~Ugh...they even do the stupid body x-ray scan. Is that really necessary here? ~I made it past the gate! Let's see more offerings...another bar located inside a fast-food burger counter. Another magazine stand...Yep. Is my plane here yet? In the end, I didn't have to wait 7 hours, just 4. It's a tiny airport with very limited options and outdated everything. The workers here are all very nice though and don't give you any trouble. Bathrooms are clean, plenty of places to rest and nap, baggage claim is quick, and wi-fi is free. I like airports like Mobile, it's small, regional and very efficient. Baggage delivery is super fast, your flights are processed with very high efficiency and timeliness. The car rental agencies are in airport like most yet the checkout/checkin process is on an honor system. There is no security gate leaving the car rental parking lots. Weird. Sure they give you the car keys at checkout but when you do return the car you, you fill out a form they give you as to how much gas is in the tank, drop off the keys in a key drop at the counter. Your bill shows up on your CC statement. Tip: Kenny Scharff, graffiti artist painted a Cadillac displayed in the lobby. Very cool. read more

What a little gem of an airport? Very well kept, small yet efficient. Not busy at all. I had an original flight out of Gulfport Ms, however that flight was subsequently canceled because of weather. Due to the Christmas holiday - I couldn't get another booking out of Gulfport for another 3 days which was unacceptable. My best options were to fly out of New Orleans or Mobile. Mobile was an excellent choice. They have free wifi, a couple of souvenir shops and a single subway. Rental car outlets can be found near the baggage returns. If this airport is so quiet and non-busy more often than not, I'll look at flying through here more often! read more

For the teeny tiny airport this is, make sure you plan extra time for security. TSA Pre-Check was closed today. The women who checked my ID was kind, but the one doing the bag check was the worst. I've never been through such a slow, rude, aggressive, inefficient process. By the time she was done questioning me and making me remove all my items from my bag even though I was "expedited," the line had gone from a handful of people to probably 50. It was ridiculous, and absolutely unnecessary. read more

Airport was fine, but we stopped at the SOCU Southern kitchen express and all I can say is that it was terrible. The food looked nothing like the pictures, my 6 piece tenders was basically 5 nuggets. My boyfriend's shrimp po boy was a chicken sandwich, and it took about 15 minutes for them to make it right. The young lady who took the order left a wet mop sticking out onto the tiled floor and a stewardess slipped and fell! The lady watchEd it happen and didn't even go to help the stewardess, luckily the rest of her crew was with her and helped her up. After that I got up to throw my trash into a gondola style trash bin that had trash in it, and the same lady approached me with a attitude saying that is not a trash can, and I apologized for throwing trash in a receptacle that already had trash in it , she walked away mouthing off with attitude. I will say that the cook and the older lady passing out orders were very kind. read more

Small airport but otherwise no complaints. They have a Quiznos for sandwichery, so it is hard to complain that they can keep you within your per diem since it is nothing too fancy even if you get the large sandwich. Overall a clean, small-town airport with nicer security people than the one in Jackson. I would fly out of here again. read more

How can you complain about an airport with a handful of gates that also allows departing vehicles to park for up to 30 minutes to escort their guests inside? It takes all of 5 minutes, if that, to get through TSA, which isn't a commonality in Atlanta. There isn't a wide range of food or stores, but you know that when you fly into Mobile. This airport is exactly how I remember it 20 years ago. I prefer the smaller airports than the bigger ones anyway. read more

So I fly out of here fairly often. The American and Delta folks are usually very friendly and helpful, but this review is more for the TSA and airport staff. The folks at the information desk are always nice and ready to help despite whatever God-awful hour you have to get there to catch your flight (usually about 0445 for me). The TSA staff is really good as well. They're friendly and courteous and seem to care about their jobs and service they provide. They're expeditious and efficient and don't get the recognition they deserve. Keep up the great work and thanks for what you do! read more
