The buffet food was not good. At all. It tasted like yesterday's warmed up food. Most was cold and old. The service was absolutely awful. She ignored me when I asked for vinegar and bbq sauce. Then charged me for sauce twice. She didn't even say thank you when my husband handed her an 18% tip on $100 bill. The ambiance looks fine. It was kind of dark. Some like that. Nothings real special. My ribs were excellent. The potato was as undercooked. We waited 10 minutes at the end of our meal before asking a very kind bouncy and sweet waitress if she could possibly get our bill and a to go carton. I am not sure I will be back. read more

Went here for the 1st time on my 52nd Birthday in December. It wasn't super busy but nice and steady. I ordered the wet burrito since I'd never had one before. It was massive. I went to the Oven today to get a family size antipasto salad. I opened it when I got home to find out that the tomatoes in the salad were totally unacceptable. I called to let them know about the situation and talked to their manager, telling them about the mushy tomatoes and I was summarily dismissed, and told that is the best they had. After working in the culinary field for about 20 years when you are given a bad product during delivery you should send it back and inform your customer that you are out or procure items through a different source. The manager would not listen to me at all. I asked to speak to the owner and was hung up on. I had not even asked for a refund, will try again later. Very poor quality experience and management, don't think I will ever go there again. Very disappointed in this experience. One star is the lowest I can give so this will have to do. read more

We were driving by and stopped by to eat. Salad bar was fresh and included in our meal.(no cucumbers though, but sunflower seeds and other yummy accompaniments). We ordered deep fried portabella mushrooms as an appetizer and they were excellent, very tender and delicious. We both enjoyed our entrees. I had the salmon with an apple bourbon glaze and hubby chose pasta pepe, which was a vegetarian dish with marinated in olive oil. Both were great. We had a connolli with coffee for dessert which was rich and lovely. However we chose to split it and didnt get a second plate or clean silverware. I wanted to try this place out after I moved here and, now, I finally got to see how good the pizza is. I started with the Dough Balls, a clone of Pompeii's Garlic Puffs in Reese. It is worst simply because of the lack of Parmesan cheese. If it had that it would actually be better. I like the extreme lightness of these and lacks the chewiness factor Pompeii's had. Crispy and comes with marinara and nacho cheese. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and received my perfect version of bar pizza. The focus is on its thin, fantastically crispy crust. But, they do destroy it with too much cheese and their marinara sauce. They should have just did pure tomatoes with a pinch of oregano, but the addition of garlic, pepper, and sugar is overpowering. So, I did suffer from the cheese and pepperonis falling off my pizza. Fortunately the crust is good enough on its on for me to be able to still enjoy it. Atmosphere is family restaurant/bar. Low lights and classic rock and ballads. Nothing super special, but it's cool to have one of these places in a small town. Overall, it was ok. There were some delightful surprises, but wasn't consistent enough to let me love it. I will probably come back with family. I heavily suggest to make a new pizza sauce, this sauce tastes like it's straight out of a can. read more

Homestyle pizzas any way you like them made, the best lasagna comparable to your moms homemade with loads of bubbly cheese, if you've never tried fluffy dough-balls with cheese and marinara these will become your all time fav's! First off, I find it to be a joke that the oven only has 3 stars here on yelp while a dive like the starbright has 5 stars. The Oven has great food in that most things on the menu are fairly unique. The owner uses his own recipes which means you're not getting the same old thing you get everywhere else. Yes they charge a small fee when you pay with a credit card. Came here during lunch the other day for a family member's birthday. I really like the ambience and how well maintained this restaurant is. For a small town, this place doesn't disappoint. I ordered Baked Chicken Alfredo as well as Fried Ravioli. I had also tried the Dough Balls that others on the table had ordered. The food portion was pretty big (I only ate less than half and was full), but taste wise it was pretty bland. Our waitress was really nice and attentive which made the overall experience more enjoyable. When the bills came, mine was $57 (since I only have $60 cash on me I didn't want to use it .. in fear that it wouldn't be enough for tips). Once the waitress came back with my card, I noticed that the price of the bills was more. We flaged her down and asked why the amount was different then the original receipt. She said, "It's the convenient fee. Let me tell you, when we first started this people did not take it well" then walked away. Maybe if this practice was printed out on the receipt somewhere or if we were notified by the wait staff before payment ... no one would get as pissed off. First restaurant that I've ever eaten at that does this without telling thier customers. I'll eventually be back in town again, but we wouldn't be coming back here. read more

Drove through Caro looking for a good place to eat. The Oven looked newer and unique, so in we go. BIG mistake, the service here was poor beyond any thing I have experienced in a long time. We were ignored for some time, our drinks were brought after the meal, the bill was brought with the meal and the waitress never returned. The lay out makes no sense. we were seated at a table jammed into the middle of the room so that each time a patron or staff ventured into the room they bumped into us. (BTW the staff hardly ever excused themselves). The house sauce was strange, the sweetest tomato based sauce I have ever had. After eating about half of my entree I just couldn't take the taste anymore. So here we sat with empty glasses and plates half full of food, but no one stopped by to offer a refill or a take out box. read more

I come here often on lunch break and usually have good experiences. Today I brought my wife who has a seafood allergy and we came to the realization that she can't eat anything fried here. Apparently they fry everything together and we didn't see any allergy warnings anywhere. She couldn't eat any of the appetizers we already ordered. She was going to settle for a burger which comes with a side of her choice (fried of course) and asked if she could get some kind of discount because she couldn't eat half of the meal, the answer was simply "no". We live in Caro, and there aren't a ton of options for dining out in town. The Oven is probably the best of the bunch, however. The food is good, the portions generous, and the atmosphere congenial. They removed the televisions that used to be omnipresent when the building was operated as "The Brickhouse", which means you can focus on conversation with your dining companions instead of staring like a drone at some football game. The absolute best thing is that the ownership seems committed to trying hard, and they aren't afraid to make changes when something isn't working. The last time we were there, they had revised the menu to include some of the most popular items from the two previous restaurants that had occupied the building (The Capri and The Brickhouse), as well as standbys from when The Oven operated elsewhere in town without a liquor license. Downsides, there are some: As mentioned, the wait staff does not deal with rush times very effectively, tending to forget some patrons entirely. Also, their buffet, while seemingly popular, never looks particularly appetizing. Overall, however, The Oven is the best of what's around in Caro, and is a place we consistently enjoy eating. read more

We come here for lunch when visiting TI Automotive monthly. The outside looks like an old barn with heavy drab wood exterior. Inside it is an older 70's style restaurant; there is not any order to where you sit. There is a few rooms of where you can actually go to sit which kind of throws me each time we walk in. We like the lunch bar. The salads are fresh with many toppings like cukes, tomatoes, beets, carrot slices, the usual veggies. Completely aggravated last week when I picked up a takeout order. Was told on the phone that the order totaled $114. When I arrived to pick up the order, the employee told me I did not have to leave a tip because they automatically add 15% to take out orders over $100. I have a couple issues with this policy. First, it seems that The Oven is doing more take out business than table service. Instead of paying their staff, they force mandatory tips on the customers. Second, I was never brought silverware. I never received a glass of water and never got a drink or anything service to warrant a tip. I'm saying this as a customer that consistently tips servers well. Where does this stop? Is McDonald's going to lower wages and mandate tips for service. Will the post office start requiring that I tip the carrier. After all that is all the employee did. She carried the pizza to the counter. The oven has lost a customer and I will take my business where both the customers and employees are treaded with respect. read more

The crust was SOGGY to the point where it was inedible, the veggies were NOT fresh as they said they would be, canned mushrooms, underdone onions that were still RAW, pizza sauce straight from the can with NO FLAVOR.....Go to Little Caesars or any other restaurant in town, trust me, this place is NOT what you would think it is. So I've been to this place plenty of times but checked in for the first time on Yelp the other day. I used to live in Caro, and it's pretty surreal eating here and realizing the same building used to house The Capri. Those feelings of nostalgia flow over me as I sit in the bar area, where The Capri used to have karaoke every Wednesday night, serving clientele such as myself until they were walking zombies. One thing that kicks ass is that they kept the original wooden bar and some of the woodwork as well. The food here is very good, and I like the variety. They have a decent draft selection and a lot of specialty drinks. One of my favorite sides is the bleu mac and cheese. You'll find the pizza is very good here. When I checked in I tried the cod dinner which was very good, batter wasn't overly heavy and the fish was great quality. So if you're looking for a good place with nice atmosphere, good food or just want to get your drink on, I'd highly recommend this place. read more
