I wish I could give this place the lowest rating possible. Holy shit. The FEW things me and my friend actually liked were for some reason not available for purchase. It was very tight and cluttered. It made me feel claustrophobic. It was hard to breathe and see, all of my sense were being used for all the wrong reasons. She starts off by telling you how good you would look in a piece and then once she says the price your face turns cold. She makes you think you're getting it for a good deal, you're not. The "dressing rooms" were just toilet stalls and they were not clean. Again, it was a very tight space and very overwhelming. She keeps giving you piles of clothes to try on, none of which is actually your style, but she keeps giving them anyways. She offered my friend, who is black, an African style muumuu and told her it was EXACTLY her style. Mind you, my friend is very grungy and isn't necessarily into that style whatsoever. It felt like a micro aggression and was very weird in our opinion. She also told my friend that I looked like I couldn't afford a designer dress, classist. At the end of the day, after trying basically everything in the store on, I decided to purchase a single garment, a shirt supposedly from the 90s. I tell her I want the shirt and that we didnt want to buy anything else and she starts lecturing us about how she has better things to do than put up with our mockery, we never mocked her. She thought the fact that we are giggly teenage girls meant we were bullying her in the stall, that obviously wasnt the case. She then says to me "Are you gonna buy the shirt or what" to which I say yes. We were very confused by all the hostility all of a sudden. We went to check out and she went on another tangent about how she has better things to do and we shouldnt waste her time trying things on, taking pictures, and making fun of this place. We didnt do anything of the sort. She was extremely rude, hostile, and pushy. I hated my experience here and will never be showing up again in the future. read more

Cluttered, gross, can look around the lady that owns it bring you cloths she thinks you would like, very pushy. She has horrible body odor I almost threw up. She just touched me and my hair without asking first she wears stinky stained ripped up clothes. No dressing room you change in a stall(that's ok). The clothes are alright but she kept bring me piles of stuff to try on I told her what I was looking for and she kept trying to make me buy other things I did not need or want it stunk I left and felt like I needed a whole body bleach there's dirt all over sticky greasy so cluttered and dark I felt like I was going to have a panic attack or I was inna scary movie they clothes are in good condition for vintage but they smell like body odor old people and wet basement you would need to get everything dry cleaned if you buy it . If I could give a 0 star- I would. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a store + incredibly awkward. Most of the store was not for sale and items were taken out of my hand as I shopped as she "needed examples" of these items in the store. . . She wouldn't sell me a dress that she felt would be too small on me without even having tried it on. Very dirty inside + left feeling like I needed to wash my hands. read more

The Outskirts is a diamond in the vintage fashion and jewelry world (and luckily for me, well hidden near my hometown). I have been visiting the Outskirts for over ten years now, and every time I go in there, the owner always has new goods ranging from 1940's vintage jewels, 60's bake-lite bangles, hats, men's and women's clothing, costumes, scarves and shoes. She is extremely well versed in each piece that she owns and can give you details on all of them along with ideas you may have not thought of for all your wardrobe endeavors. Around Halloween, they have an incredible costume collection that they bring out, with many pieces that you can buy or rent - however plan early because they are swamped at this demanding time. And the best part of The Outskirts - the prices. As vintage wares wax and wane in fashion, you can run into many an overpriced vintage store, but in all my vintage store wanderings (from New York to Boston), The Outskirts is the best bang for your money, both in condition and quality of the goods. read more

I have been visiting Farmington every summer for my entire life. I went into Outskirts for the first time last summer. The young lady who worked there was so nice! She was extremely friendly and we had a great time picking out fun clothes and trying them on. She did such a good job and was so fun that I ended up buying something, what a good employee to have working for you! The selection is incredible. Normally, I shop in the south where not a lot of vintage clothing survives due to heat and humidity. The clothes were so well preserved! The prices are not cheap, though I did not think they were outrageous for the condition the clothes were in (the really old ones atleast). It is definitely a one-stop shop. You can buy your vintage clothes, hats, jewerly, anything, and if you still have money left over there are plenty of vintage looking new accessories . I ended up buying a black tea length gown made from tulle and probably rayon. It seems to be circa 1940-1950 based on the cut and the closings used. It is in extremely good shape and I plan to continue wearing it for years to come! I plan on making another trip this summer to see what is in store! read more

I have been visiting Danielle and her wonderful vintage store for several years now. Everything about the place is wonderful. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. The clothing is at spectacular, especially given the value on such amazing top notch quality and the fact that you cannot find most of it anywhere else without paying twice the price. Danielle is a wonderful woman, great at reading her costumers, and always willing to help you find exactly what you are looking for. (You may even be surprised, she will talk you into trying something on you are sure you hate and with one look in the mirror find perfect for you.) The selection on clothing and accessories is incredible. It is impossible to enter the store and not find something you absolutely adore. And the best part is: even if you come in thinking okay that atmosphere is great, but I am really not interested, after pawing through the racks and talking to Danni you are going to find something you love. She knows exactly what she is saying about each article you ask about, she often has an interesting history and a great explanation about the piece. Over-all, the service is the best you will find anywhere and the goods, be it clothing, shoes, hats, ties, accessories or anything else is phenomenal! read more

This store has a wide selection of clothing and accessories. You can find vintage formal wear, Halloween costumes and the latest scandalous fashions. The prices are pretty high. I can understand why some of the fancier stuff is so expensive but half the stuff there is just like thrift store clothes. The one thing that i HATE about going into this store is that the lady who owns the store basically harasses you while you shop. I like to browse in peace and if i need assistance, i will ask for it. Even after saying "I'm just browsing, thanks." She will still bring all these craaazy things up to you and try to convince you to buy them. I do not appreciate high pressure sales people! Every time i go there it ends up being a bizarre, uncomfortable experience. read more
