We settled on cheeseburgers that came out hot and fresh. Vegetables were cool, crisp and fresh providing a great accompaniment to the well seasoned hamburger patty. Topped with a slice of American cheese and a side of crisp tater tots this was a great meal on this blue sky summer day. Overall, this is a classic American diner featuring hamburgers, hot dogs and corn dogs. A local favorite also on the menu is the breaded or grilled pork tenderloin. In addition to hot food there was plenty of ice cream available for the sweet tooths in the crowd. We closed the deal with milkshakes; one vanilla and one black raspberry. Both hand-spun and excellent. Not so thick you couldn't get it through a straw but not so thin you felt like you were drinking a glass of milk. A perfect end to this classic American meal. Seating was plentiful; all tables and chairs arranged in groups of 2, 3 and 4 seat tables with a larger 6-top in the middle. The business also had a nice clean and well stocked restroom which always makes me feel better knowing that they have an eye for cleanliness. Price point was perfect for the quality and quantity of food you get. Overall this is a great little spot in Hagerstown in you are in the area looking for a quick bite to eat. My only critique is the staff... and this may have been an off day for the young man who took our order. I had never been here before so I asked the young man behind the counter what he recommended; what was the best thing on the menu. His response was a little stunning, "I don't know, I don't eat here much." This was a perfect opportunity to point me toward any menu item available but he missed the mark. Maybe just an off day and not enough to lower my rating but something I felt was worth noting.

Only downside was I was hoping to order steak and eggs, but found out breakfast is only served on weekends, which I didn't realize ahead of time. And they were out of an item we initially ordered but got something else. Still, really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back.

One evening, we decided to try a local place, Kelly's Homestead Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We walked in and found the restaurant fairly busy. After waiting at the entrance, the host simply asked, "How many?" then grabbed menus and walked off toward a booth without saying "Follow me" or offering any kind of welcome. She tossed the menus on the table and walked away--no greeting, no "Your server will be right with you," nothing. We sat for 15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us or taking a drink order. Looking around, we noticed other tables had drinks, but hardly anyone seemed to be having their orders taken. Eventually, we left and headed to Cracker Barrel, where both the service and the food were fantastic. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Kelly's Homestead Restaurant.

Delicious fried chicken!…read more My husband and I both ordered the 4 Piece Dinner - breast, wing, leg and thigh. It also comes with two sides of choice and a roll. The fried chicken was delicious! We both thought it was prepared perfectly. The seasoning was flavorful, the skin slightly crispy and the chicken meat juicy. I chose the side salad and the jalapeño cheddar potatoes for my sides and my husband had the mashed potatoes and green beans. We both enjoyed the sides. My husband said the green beans were really good. I liked the jalapeño cheddar potatoes but found the bagged shredded cheese a bit unappealing. It didn't melt well, was greasy and then congealed while cooling. The potatoes with jalapeños were decent, though. It was a lot of food. We would probably split the chicken next time and order extra sides. The service was fine, the food was good and we'll return to check out more of menu.

If you like overly seasoned food you will not like this - but if you don't mind, salt, pepper and love then you will like this. I got the country fried steak with extra gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans - I wasn't a fan of the green beans - they were spicy and tasted canned. The mashed potatoes and the country fried steak however were delicious! I also like how they packaged everything seperatly so the gravy didn't make the meat soggy on the way home. All in all I would come back but I would like to eat inside next time.
