The location is hard to beat, sitting right along the Missouri River. I've eaten both inside and outside and had a great experience either way. The patio is wonderful on a nice day, but the huge windows inside still give you a beautiful view of the river if you'd rather be indoors. This creats a opportunity for bacteria and sickness . I told the man who was obvioulsly the mgr,/owner. He went over and pointed to steam coming from under the tray and said "See, Warm". Then he disappeared into the back. The people who were sitting next to the buffet overheard the conversation and also told him that the food was cold. Another couple who heard them also agreed. They need to warm up their food, or they will cause someone to get sick. In their defense, the taste was ok for what we ate, but did not finish due to fear of bacterial contamination. Its next to the local bars and diner. I have heard of families renting the inn out for weddings. You do not have a lot of options in Onida so having a place that is clean and safe is very nice. The rooms all have microwaves and refrigerators. If you are a colder person and like warm rooms, request to stay upstairs. If you can't sleep in the heat, request a room downstairs. I go here every year and will continue to stay here. I could find a chain in Pierre but this is much nicer and you support the local businesses.
