When I told her I was going to seek outside tutoring she said and I quote: "You don't need any outside tutoring---all you need to do is pay better attention in my class." The problem? She did an abysmal job at explaining and teaching. Rude and totally out of touch.

IMPORTANT PSA - PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!…read more Despite being local to where our family lives and being suburban (which is very peaceful for middle class people like us!) and being in the center of a supportive community, the school environment is just SO atrocious. I put both of my kids into this school: 9th grade son preparing for a medical education, and 11th grade daughter committing to MIT (so excited for her!). With construction happening around the school, incoming students should expect a very disruptive learning experience as they proceed through their education here. Even with new facilities and the renovated campus, the relationships between student and teacher hasn't been repaired at all. Ever since my son transferred into this school, his grades dropped from straight A's to high C's and low B's. I emailed one of his teachers inquiring about the drastic grade drop and his negative remarks regarding one his classes, and all I got was "Sorry, we can't really do anything now." What type of school disregards a student's education and future in such manner?!?!? The only classes my son has gotten A's from were from online summer classes at different schools!!! My daughter on the other hand, the valedictorian for her class, told me about her being bullied by her peers and heavily peer pressured into vaping within one of her clubs. She had also reported the teachers not putting any effort into giving their students an enjoyable learning experience, relying just on videos and telling the students to "just study on your own I guess." NOT TO MENTION - my children have gotten food poisoning on many occasions; I had to resort to packing lunch for them and making sure they are well fed. I have taken them out of this horrible school and transferred them to another school. PLEASE do your research prior sending your students here, you'll thank me later.

I want to begin by acknowledging the challenges teachers and school staff face. I appreciate their…read moreefforts and understand that working with students is not always easy. However, my concern lies not with the educators broadly, but specifically with the treatment my child received from a counselor at the school. Do not register your child at this school and if you do stay on top of their counselors and teachers and speak up for your child. Had I been aware sooner of the internal emotional and mental struggle my child endured due to this counselor's behavior, I would have addressed it much earlier. Teenagers often don't speak up about these kinds of issues, as they are navigating their own challenges, so I do not blame my child for remaining silent. That said, I strongly believe the school must carefully consider who it hires for such crucial roles. It's essential to thoroughly vet candidates and not simply hire based on tenure, connections, or convenience. This ensures that students receive the support and encouragement they deserve. I am specifically referring to Michelle Parizeau, who, in my experience, has been detrimental to my child's well-being. During the few meetings I attended regarding my child's progress and scheduling, I was struck by her apparent lack of empathy and dismissive attitude towards both me and my child. It felt as though Ms. Parizeau held herself in high regard but showed little regard for the needs or feelings of the students she is meant to support. On multiple occasions, my child shared with me that Ms. Parizeau told her she would never graduate, would not amount to anything, and would need to attend community college instead of a four-year institution. These statements were not only discouraging but deeply damaging. Despite these negative messages, my child graduated on time, earned extra credits, and is now attending college. Teachers and counselors should motivate and uplift students, not tear them down or diminish their potential. The lasting impact of Ms. Parizeau's behavior has been so severe that my child is in therapy sinc she finally started telling me about what really happened and struggles to even talk about her high school experience. I am not surprised they painted the entire campus in prison-like colors--because that's exactly how the students are treated. The atmosphere feels punitive and unwelcoming, which only adds to the stress and challenges students face. This environment is far from what a supportive and nurturing school should provide. I urge the school to thoroughly review appropriate action to ensure that no other student has to endure such harmful treatment in the future.

Students deserve respect, especially in an educational environment. It is concerning that individuals who choose to work with students act in this manner. If staff are unhappy working with kids, they should not be in this profession. This behavior reflects poorly on the school. I'm truly surprised this behavior is tolerated. In particular, the blonde, curly-haired staff member is so rude and should do better and maybe rethink her profession.
