It's not the customers fault for a business planning its quantities it prepares. Customers shouldn't be hindered purchasing an available product marketed for sale. Encourage customers to preorder but don't hold it over them if they don't. If you exhaust supplies reflect on supplies and business plan. Summarily this isn't good business handling practices and spurns resentment to visit the establishment again for business or personal purpose's.
