Stepping down some old steps and in to... an alliterative joke I thought would be funnier before I wrote it, you'd be mistaken for thinking you've walked in to a film set. Not so much due it being over-run by bevies of Hollywood starlets (although I'm not saying that definitely couldn't happen) but rather it looks like they've only bothered to refurbish one side of it. It's a peculiarity that adds an eccentric charm to what is pretty small space, although once you're sat down to eat it feels cosy rather than cramped, and you really should come here to eat.
It's a small menu of hearty traditional French dishes, but fairly priced for the portions and incredibly fairly priced for the quality. I'm actually clinically addicted to tartiflette (a kind of French gourmet hot-pot) so they only really need one item to keep me happy, but having tasted that and the beef bourguignon I would trust the mini-wizard in their kitchenette to cook me anything. In fact, they could make me eat it outside in the rain and this place would still get 5 stars for the food.
Bar wise, they have decent draft beers and a contemporary selection of alcopops like Rekorderling, Crabbies, etc, plus a fairly brutal offer of 3 Jagers for a fiver for the local after work crowd to thoroughly embarrass themselves on. If they can all fit in. read more
