On our…read moreway to Yellowstone we had stayed at a ramshackle motel seven miles north in Bliss, and I knew we had to find something better for our return trip. This was maybe $50 more than the dingy Bliss motel, and 100% worth it. The owners live on property and seem to put a lot of love and care into it. I really liked their yard decor; it think it helps make the place feel more comfortable for people of all walks of life. We stayed in the Hemingway cabin, which was just perfect for us as a solo couple. Everything was clean, including linens and bedding. The shower worked well. I appreciated the decor that emphasized the Hemingway theme, although I might suggest an accent color wall could jazz the place up a bit. Perhaps the wall behind the refrigerator. Speaking of, we were happy to find the standard amenities like microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker. It was quite warm during our stay and, although an older unit, we found the AC to work well. The bed was comfy and we both slept really soundly! There is one lodge area with several rooms, and then the cabins scattered around the property. Although there were other guests using the common areas, we never felt crowded or like we were forced to interact due to layout. We enjoyed a couple friendly chats with other guests. We had dinner on our front deck and enjoyed the creek babbling away alongside us. The creek setting was AMAZING. Having just driven through endless miles of cow farms on Highway 30, we weren't prepared for this idyllic setting we landed in. I mean... stunning. Being from Western Oregon we're spoiled by scenery, so I don't say that lightly. We had a long drive ahead and I very much wish we had been able to spend more time here. Only two minor things to mention. First, this is very near the highway so if you want to sleep with windows open, you can expect some highway noise. It was not something that impacted our stay to any degree. Second, the entire entrance and parking areas are filled with round rock instead of gravel, which made my Toyota Corolla slip around like crazy. My boyfriend was puzzled by the choice. It's certainly nowhere near a deal breaker, just a minor annoyance. Area observations: The town of Hagerman just south has pretty sparse amenities, depending on what your typical travel style is. Bliss, the town to the north, is not much more than a truck stop with fast food. Highway 30 isn't really scenic at all unless you're right near the gorge area. And the entirety of Southern Idaho smells like cows...it can be better or worse depending on conditions, but it's there. We didn't have time to explore the area, but the Hagerman Fossil Beds sound cool and there's parks and natural areas to explore along there.

Although I'd love to indulge in one of their rooms that offered a sauna or the steam room- these rooms are located on the second floor. And that's one thing we made sure on this motorcycle trip from San Diego to Boise-- get rooms that are on first floor. We Stayed here for one night- but, enjoyed the hot tub & pool on site. At the time we stayed- the outdoor fire pits weren't available. The rooms even have black out curtains too! Which was an additional bonus. Plenty of restaurants nearby & gas stations. I'd rather support a local business than a chain hotel.

After interviewing several photographers, I was beginning to think I would have to just settle on…read moreone because I just couldn't find "the one." Then one evening I was on Instagram and I was browsing the hashtag #sacramentoweddingphotographer and I came across a beautiful wedding photo and fell in love with Katelyn's work. I saw that she was based in Chico, but decided to reach out to her anyways. Katelyn set up a "Coffee Skype Date" with me since we were over 2 hours apart. I was really nervous to skype with a complete stranger, since I hardly even video chat with people I know! As soon as our session began, Katelyn made me feel completely comfortable, and it was like I was chatting with a friend I had known forever! She is a complete sweetheart, and I knew I had finally found "the one," to capture one of the most important days of our life! We met with Katelyn in Chico for our engagement shoot in the fall of 2016. I was nervous because my husband HATES taking photos, and I knew he would be awkward and uncomfortable. Katelyn gave us plenty of direction, and our pictures were stunning! It was impossible to decide which ones to use on our Save the Dates. To top things off, she loads everything to an online pass gallery, which makes it super easy to save, share, and order prints! Katelyn was extremely responsive every step of the way, and made everything so easy. A couple of weeks before our wedding, she came all the way to Sacramento to meet me at our venue to get a lay of the land, and to sit down for our planning session. She asked me a ton of questions to make sure we captured every moment I wanted her to. On our wedding day, Katelyn and her assistant Krista (who is also an absolute doll!) arrived right on time. She first came to the on-site bungalow to capture all of our detail shots and photos of the girls and I getting ready. We did a "First Look," and Katelyn and Krista executed our moment perfectly! She made sure we captured all of our formal photos from beginning to end and her and Krista seemed like they were everywhere at the reception, not missing a single moment! She stayed all the way until are send off and we know the photos are going to be amazing! I don't even need to wait for our photos, to write this review, because that's how WONDERFUL Katelyn really is. You will not be disappointed! Katelyn was not only our photographer, but has also become someone who I consider a friend and hope to keep in touch! Thank you again to Katelyn and Krista for helping to make our day so perfect, we can't wait to see the rest of the photos!

After an initial email, She was kind enough to Skype with me. She was very sweet, informative and positive. She provided a link to a previous city hall shoot, and all the photos were magnificent! Her style showed intimate and warm moments. As December in SF tends to be overcast/rainy, I was concerned with our photos looking dark and dreary. I looked through more of her galleries from her website and saw that a different rainy photo shoots still were glowing radiantly. We had another skype meeting and went over details of the day, what shots I wanted (locations/ group etc). She stated I'd get the link of the shoot with access for ten years! Amazing! The day of the shoot, she was a like a fly on the way, catching candid moments. After the ceremony, she went they out discussed list and offered various directions for posed shots. A few weeks after our wedding, we got the link for the photos. She didnot disappoint! Literally brought tears to my eyes of the quality of photos, amount, bright and clear shots. The process was seamless, stress free and satisfying. Thank you for making our day even more special!
