I've been a regular customer at this place for many years. As the price per gallon has increased, I continued patronizing to support the local business owner. However, I went in today to get 4 gallons for a 5 gallon bottle that already had a gallon in it, and gave the lady $2.00, and should've received $.60 cent back $.35/gallon. The lady unilaterally decides to give me $.50 back, without an explanation.
When I asked about the difference and whether she was overcharging me, she just said "no" and sat down.
I would've settled for "hey, it looks like your bottle (that I bought there also) has less than a full gallon, and you may use more than 4 gallons." No problem, but to not offer any reasoning, and to just say "no", shows a lack of respect imho.
I understand that we are just talking about $.10, but it is the way she chose to dismiss me. I understand that times are tough, and businesses need to make money too, but respecting your customers, whoever they are is the key to continued relations. I don't care about paying a little extra, but I do care about respect and consideration. For this reason, she may have lost a customer. read more
