I am referring to the new The Oak Inn Hokley if I may add. I was very much satisfied with the surroundings, from the lawn to the trees are well maintained. Very clean facility with reasonable prices. We will be back. read more

The staff was very friendly and helpful and the meeting space was very good, not large, but just right for our conference and meetings. The breakfast buffet was pretty standard fare and the restaurant staff was great. Lunch at the conference was also good. The bartenders were good, but they have a very limited selection of whiskey/whisky, which was surprising. It's also a cashless hotel. There are other shops and restaurants not too far away.

Check in was very speedy and the staff were welcoming. We were located on the second floor and there are stairs or one lift. I would imagine that waiting for the lift may present difficulties during busy periods, but it was fine when we were there. The bathroom was modern and well equipped with bath and shower and separate shower attachment. Complimentary shower gel/bath gel and soap was provided (Arran Aromatics). The bedroom was very nicely fitted and the bed was comfortable and had additional pillows located in the wardrobe. There was a flat screen TV and a writing desk and an iPod docking station. There was also tea and coffee making facilities. The temperature control was great. We had a bed and breakfast rate of £38 per night for a double room (brililant value) and the breakfast was lovely. There was a choice of fresh fruit, fruit salad, juices, pastries, cereals and full English breakfast. All nicely cooked and hot. If you fancied a quick coffee, there is a Starbucks located in the main lobby where you can get a snack and a coffee. There is also the Pub where you can get pub food as well as The Verve Grill for dinners. They have some excellent value deals on meals. One of the offers in The Pub was their Friday night "Burger Me" deal where you could get a burger for £1. The hotel also has a fully equipped leisure centre with pool and use is included in the price. We had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

5 Star Country House Hotel... What more do I need say?…read more But I will say something, no point in doing a review other wise ;o) I stayed at this Country Hotel a number of times quite a few years ago. At the time it was like stepping into another world, a 5 Star world. Set in acres of rural countryside it gives you the feeling of being Lord or Lady of the manor. The rooms are in affect self contained luxury apartments. The AA two rosettes restaurant provides a variety of menu options both at lunch and for dinner. From a two course lunch to a seven course evening meal there will always be something to suit you on offer. The staff are always polite and attentive and the service they deliver is exemplary. I would highly recommend staying here and sampling the high life even if it's just for one night.

Give it a go even if for the one off special event. Sorry, sounds like an advert.... The credit crunch has bitten us a bit, so don't get there that often. "Nuthurst Grange is highly rated in all the hotel and food guides with 3 Rosettes and 3 Red Stars awarded from the AA. It has also added Restaurant of the Year to its many accolades."

Big fan of this place! Beautiful gardens and a large dining space. I went last year as ladies what…read morelunch and had a delicious afternoon tea for £20...unlimited tea and good quality sandwiches and patisserie items ( I'm a fussy cow too the type that sends sandwiches back). But this time I went for a wedding! It was the perfect space and as a hotel everyone could stay over. The gardens are manicured, there s a lovely terrace where guests can spill out to and the venue even allowed fire dancing ( a supplier at the wedding, not a guest). The food was a highlight for me. We attended for the evening buffet. This was the best beige food I d had for a long time! Small goat s cheese tart with crisp pastry, cheese and tomato and spinach pastries, succulent chicken skewers & ribs and wedges and probably more but I d had a few gins by then. The bar was priced competitively a gin and Tonic and a bottle of beer came to £9. The quality of the food and service has made me want to return again soon. It's very close to M42 therefore best accessed by car

Food served is traditional high quality English food with a few modern twists. Starters came out after less than 15 minutes and are quite large with some people in our group commenting that they could have been small mains. Mains quickly followed starters and my fillet steak (cooked blue) was done to perfection and the peppercorn sauce was something special made with a turnip Base it tasted earthy and fresh. I didn't go for desert however the selection is vast and the final course of coffee was served professionally from an incredibly friendly and polite waiter. It isn't the cheapest of restaurants but service and quality of food easily make the price justifiable. I would say for a table of 2 including wine you could do 3 courses each for under £150 as a total.

Easy to get to 2 local train stations (Solihull and Shirley) for a reasonable taxi fee. Easy to get to Birmingham city and Touchwood shopping center via public transportation. It's does not offer on-site breakfast -- no problem, there's a Costa and a Wetherspoons in the same block offering great coffee and all. We did have a problem with the heat and it was immediately addressed by the very customer oriented front desk staff who somehow transmitted the problem to the next shift who double-checked it was resolved. In room coffee and tea available using the kettle. Free wi-fi was adequate for our usage (mostly social media). Beds were a trifle firm but they had lots of extra pillows to loan us. We enjoyed a couple of late evening meals in the attached Saracens Head Inn. We would definitely stay again.

I've stayed in the Ramada hotel for business on several occasions and never have any complaints…read more The location of the Ramada is ideal for trips into Solihull town centre it is literally minutes from Touchwood. The hotel staff have always been pleasant and more than willing to assist in particular the restaurant staff. The food here is quite delicious but there isn't the greatest of choices. The rooms are clean and spacious, and if you're fortunate you may be offered a room overlooking the neatly kept bowls green. The rooms aren't the cheapest around, but this isn't a budget hotel, and considering the location and quality of service it isn't overpriced.

Said I,already bored with the way the conversation was going. Which is strange, because discussing which Premier Inn i'm staying at is usually the reason I get up in the morning. "You're at The Sarace? Hey Carter, they're at The Sarace! Prok, they are only staying at The Sarers!!" Shouted Martin exitedly. "Are you staying at The Sarasce?" Sang Carter and Prok in unison (probably) "Apparently so" I said crying... If only all conversations about Premier Inns were met with such exitement, the world would be a better place. The place was fine,great/friendly staff, clean room and it was a good price for NYE. Also,as mentioned by Ange,it is within staggering distance of Shirley K. Unfotunately there was no individual cakes or cookies available (shock, horror!) but they were able to bring us out a selection of small desserts from their afternoon tea range presented on a slate - how delightful! The desserts were very tasty and went down a treat! The pot of tea was good too. I really felt at home here as I sat in the armchair by the fire. They closed the bar at 12 and the resident's bar refuses to serve because there is one random couple that hasn't closed their tab for dinner. I'm with 30 people, ready to spend a minimum of £1,000 and they can't be bothered to figure out how to serve us. If you're looking for a place with a great view, this is your spot. Unfortunately, that's all they'll offer. I also spent £28 on 3 glasses of wine. But the view is wonderful. This property should get 5 stars, but because of the service it gets 3. I'll bet if the servers wages were based on tips like in America, they'd care a bit more.
