I know a lot of girls who are mad into health food stores like this. I've never really been bothered with them though. It's just another way of selling you crap you don't need right? I am pretty health conscious, I eat well and exercise but I recently called into Nutmeg to see what all the fuss was about. The shop inside is well stocked and inviting. They are not as expensive as some of their counterparts like Holland & Barrett, so that's a plus. The staff are really helpful and seem knowledgeable, but I don't like being preached to. I'd rather make up my own mind. I ended up buying some Miso soup which was really yummy. If I had a specific ailment like a calcium deficiency or something minor like hat I might pop in here and get some health tablets. Otherwise I don't think I'd be in again.

Stocking up for The Great Vegan challenge in November. Egg free mayonnaise.

The Nutmeg's a brilliant shop stocking a huge range of vitamin supplements and food. It's a tiny store packed full of healthy items you won't get from your local supermarket. I particularly like their range of dairy free cheeses, vegetarian/vegan foods and nuts, pulses and seeds.

This smallish shop is a quirky mix of health foods, vitamins/minerals and all sorts of wonderful looking pills and potions. Everything is organic and free trade so you can shop here with a clear conscience and the staff are always helpful to answer any queries you might have. Obviously your Holland & Barrett's of the world do this kind've thing in a more swanky way but I always enjoy a visit to the Nutmeg if only to try out some new exotic looking whole food bar or just stock up on Vitamin C tablets. They also do a small selection of toiletries etc. Pros: Great service and advice. Cons: Can be expensive.

387 Ormeau Road - Shopping haul to take home

Visited 387 Ormeau Road yesterday and had the nicest sausage roll and oat milk latte I've ever…read moretried. Love that everything on offer is vegan and reasonably priced with a wealth of options to choose from e.g. filled wraps, bagels, salads, stews, soups, cakes and tray bakes. It's also heaven to have a choice of plant-based milks for coffee i.e. oat, almond or soy - such an improvement on offerings found at other Belfast cafes. My food was delicious and coffee flawless. In this, the age of excess hipster cafes, unfortunately it's still difficult to find good coffee, but thankfully 387 offers exceptional coffee. Additionally, this place doubles up as a health food shop with shelves, a freezer and a cooler brimming with goodies. After enjoying my coffee and food I did a mini grocery shop stocking up on vegan cheese, tofurkey slices, sausages, burgers, soups and chilli mayo. A lovely, relaxed spot with friendly, helpful staff and outside seating for sunny days. Decor is natural, focused on muted grey shades, wooden furniture, soft lighting and green plants. Everything about this cafe is synonymous with ease, relaxation and quality. I'm very glad 387 has arrived on the Belfast food scene and hope it flourishes. I will definitely be back.

We got to try the bagels, the sausage roll, the breakfast burrito, the mocha lattes, the soup, and strew! ALL amazing! And the staff made our visits that much more accommodating! Best place for vegan food in Belfast! Cheers from LA
