The Nunnery is one of Melbourne's most esteemed backpackers/hostels. If you are looking for a place to stay, then go no further than this beautiful old 1888 building, set in the fringes of Carlton; over-looking the Melbourne Museum and close to both the city and the ever so popular suburb of Fitzroy.
Just because this used to be the abode of sisterhood and chastity over 100 years ago, don't go expecting this today though. The Nunnery is after all a hostel, and has everything a hostel should have. Boozy British emigrants, over-friendly German backpackers and everything in-between. But what sets this place beyond the average hostel - apart it's ideal location, is the beautiful building it occupies. It really has to be seen to be appreciated.
With a price range between $30 a night for large shared rooms to $115 for deluxe private rooms there are options for all budgets.
