This is not one of…read morethose "bargain bin" clubs stacked with reformers and a ridiculous client-instructor ratio. At Coreworks, the classes have no more than 8-10 reformers, so the instructor can take the time to help each student with the routines. No two workouts are the same, and classes are never dull. If you are thinking of giving Pilates a try, visit CoreWorks and check Groupon, as there are often new member/class packages.

I always wanted to try pilates on the reformer. The gym I go to is too pricy so when I saw an offer…read moreon groupon for three sessions I purchased it. Per the instructions on groupon, I emailed Fran so that I could create a log in online but I didn't hear back from her so I called the office. Once my account was created, I was able to sign up for classes. I was informed before I took any classes I would need to take the Intro to Equipment class. Fran was the instructor. She was patient and helpful as it was my first time and I needed specialized attention. For my second session, I took Reformer I & II with Doreen. Foe my last session I took Tower with a substitute for Doreen. All the instructors were patient, helpful, and friendly. They ask if anyone had injuries and they walk around and if your technique is wrong they adjust and correct you which I greatly appreciated. The classes were challenging to me since I am not good at following directions. Also, if you don't remember instructions well, I recommend taking Intro to Equipment multiple times. I had to look around to see how to do things as I am a visual learner, not an audio learner. The facility is tucked away in the corner and is not visible if you are in the parking lot. Fortunately I saw someone wearing athletic clothes and followed them. The facility is clean and bright. There are two individual restrooms. There is a main room with cubbies. The reformer room also had cubbies. The reformer room was slightly warm even with ceiling fans so I dressed lighter the second and third session. I enjoyed my experience, but could have benefitted from more intro classes. The classes were much different than my normal cardio and strength training classes at my gym. The pace was slower and it was a great way to relieve stress. I highly recommend Core Fitness for Pilates.

I saw an ad in the Columbia Flier for free yoga, pilates, meditation, and Qigong classes being held…read moreon Sept 24-30. I decided on the iRest Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation that was led by Lucy held on Fri, Sept 28. You register online and they send registrants a confirmation and reminder email. I was grateful as they mentioned that the gps address is 8950 Old Annapolis Road and that the building faces Route 108 and that parking is located behind the building. Yoga mats, blankets, and pillows are all available for the session. Lucy starts the class by providing background information and the process for iRest Yoga Nidra. Then she walked around making sure that each participant looked comfortable by the way they were laying or sat. For me, she suggested putting a the pillow underneath my knees whereas I had laid it underneath my calves. That made it more comfortable. Lucy then began by telling us to notice the sounds around us such as the class next door, traffic, etc. Then she followed by having us relax different body parts and concentrating on our breathing. I had had a very stressful and frustrating day at work so I was really looking forward to this session. Although Lucy was a wonderful facilitator I found myself distracted and fidgety. I could not sit still, focus, or relax. All the more reason why I need take more yoga and meditation classes. I was closest to the wall that was next to a class in the next room. I would have preferred if it had been quieter. It was a bit distracting. The room was a bit chilly but I didn't want to use the blanket they offer because I'm a germophobe and I don't know how frequently the blankets get washed so being chilly could be one reason why I wasn't relaxed. Lastly, my fellow yogis who were so relaxed that they were snoring. My attention ended up being focused on that. I definitely need more mindfulness in my life. It was a great experience nonetheless. I highly recommend that everyone give it a try and take advantage of the free classes when they are offered. Namaste.

I joined the winter session late, was unable to attend two classes, but because I couldn't find other class options that worked with my schedule, I had to lose them. Thank you for your response. However, I need to clarify several inaccuracies…read more The scheduled arrival time was 1:30 PM so the bus could warm up and the girls could enter at 2:00 PM. When I had not heard from you, I called at 1:46 PM to confirm we were still set for 2:00 PM. At that time, you informed me you were running late and would send your ETA. I did not receive proactive communication prior to that call. You later stated you were only 20 minutes late. That is not accurate. You were pulling into the parking lot approximately 20 minutes after the party was scheduled to begin, and after parking adjustments and setup time, the girls did not enter the bus until 3:00 PM. The original plan was for arrival at 1:30 PM for setup and a 2:00 PM start time. That timeline reflects a full hour delay in service start time. I have the call logs documenting our communication. Regarding the package, we did edit and finalize the package details through email, including an itemized list. That is exactly why Logan's grandmother and I repeatedly asked for the finalized itemized list prior to the party so there would be no confusion. Even after our phone conversation yesterday, I again requested a breakdown of what was included to justify the $1,000 total. I am still waiting to receive that documentation. To clarify another point, I never agreed to any "extra gift" from the case. The additional items were offered directly to the girls after they became upset, with the statement that you would "make it up to them." That was not a negotiated or agreed-upon substitution. You also mentioned the bus broke down, and at another time referenced coming from a previous party. The explanations have been inconsistent, which adds to the frustration. When discussing pricing, you asked what my budget was. I shared a number, but I also clearly stated I was willing to pay full price for exactly what I wanted. You offered a $195 discount. Naturally, I accepted. However, had I known the services would not match what was agreed upon, I would not have moved forward at all. At this point, this is no longer about emotion,it is about documentation and accountability. I keep detailed records, and I encourage any parent booking to do the same. If further clarification is needed, I am more than willing to provide it.

I want to share my honest experience in hopes that other parents are fully aware when booking,…read moreespecially because a lot of parents have been asking about my daughter's spa bus party. First, I want to say the idea itself is really cute. The bus was cute, and if properly organized, it could truly be a successful and memorable experience for little girls to celebrate their special day. The reason I am writing this review is not to steer parents away, because again, the concept is amazing. However, my experience was not what I expected, especially after paying $1,000 for my baby's party and before you ask no, no money was returned. Policy is money is never refunded for any reason, and I was also told it's not her fault it was raining and that her bus broke down. The spa bus arrived one hour late, and during that time I had to keep 8 little girls inside a hotel lobby while it was cold and raining outside. The girls became restless, hungry, bored, and uncomfortable. Parents who stayed also had to wait in the lobby and then find somewhere else to go, since parents are not allowed on the bus. Altogether, parents were left waiting around for nearly 4 hours. This was stressful, inconvenient, and not fair to the children or their families. We booked the most expensive package because if you know me, you know I like to go all out for my baby. I expected a high-quality experience that matched what was advertised and what I paid for. Unfortunately, that was not what we received. Payments could only be made through Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle, which in hindsight should have been a red flag. * The spa bus arrived an hour late, disrupting the entire party schedule.* Despite paying for the premium package, the girls only received services that closely resembled the basic package, not what was promised or paid for.* There were two staff members present, but the one assisting the owner showed very little patience with the girls. These are young children who were excited and deserved kindness and professionalism.* When I raised my concerns, I was told the staff member was tired from a previous party, which is not an acceptable excuse when providing a paid service. After confirming everything by email, I requested an itemized invoice outlining exactly what my daughter would receive, especially since full payment was required a week in advance. That itemized invoice was never provided. My advice to parents booking with this spa bus based in Columbia: please request an itemized invoice and keep documentation of everything. There were services promised and paid for that were simply not delivered. As a parent who invested a lot to create a special experience for my child, this was extremely frustrating and disappointing. No parent wants to see their child excited for something that doesn't meet expectations. I took the loss this time, but I learned my lesson. I am a strong supporter of Black owned businesses and will continue to be but we must hold each other accountable and operate with professionalism and integrity. I'm sharing this to encourage accountability, transparency, and to help other families make informed decisions when planning their child's special day.
