This past year - amidst a much busier-than-normal year of the usual life stuff - career, moving homes, kids, schools, etc - i found myself without 3 hours on a weekend (1 hour there, 1 hour haircut, 1 hour back) for a haircut. So i picked a very well-reviewed local place: mostly 5 stars over 100+ reviews, good photos - how bad could it be? I was baffled - my hair was butchered. I bought new styling tools and products to see if I could somehow manipulate a terrible haircut. In the end, I find myself needing Alexis to FIX these disasters. There's a reason most of us here leaving reviews have stayed with Alexis for 5, 7, 10+ years... At one point or another, we have all gotten a haircut from someone else. And the results are always, hands down, I should've just gone to Alexis. Live it, Learn it. read more

She is honestly the ONLY person who knows how to really understand and cut my hair. I completely trust her with her scissors as she artistically cuts and shapes my hair. I started seeing her 10 years when my head was shaved - since then I have had so many different cuts and styles - its just the best! To have someone know what looks well read more

I LOVE the Nerrivik Salon and Alexis! I was referred to her because she specializes in pixie/short hairstyles. I wasn't disappointed! Alexis cuts and styles your hair from an artist's perspective. As a gifted artist herself, she spared no detail from each consultation before the haircut (I've been going to her now for 6 months) to cutting with an eye toward details and continually communicating with me and my expectations! I receive multiple comments a week about my hair and I attribute them all to Alexis and the Nerrivik Studio! ‍ read more

I've been going to Alexis for hair help for at least 5 or 6 years. I started with her in Silver Lake and now travel to BH (in spire of a dislike for driving and BH) just to see her. Why? Because Alexis understands my hair and my feeble styling skills and creates a haircut that makes the most of both. She's also a very fine human who I've enjoyed talking to over the course of many years. read more

I've been following Alexis all over the west side ever since she first cut my hair in 2008. Who else would giggle with delight when you brought her a photo of Keith Richards for hairspiration? And who else could ACHIEVE the Patti-Smith-via-Keef, boxcutter-chic hairdo of my dreams? Feels wrong somehow that I have to drive to Beverly Hills to get the perfect anti-coif, but fuck it. I'd drive to Palm Springs if I had to. read more

I have been following Alexis since she started in Silver Lake and I can honestly say, I have never had a less than STELLAR hair cut. She is a magical person, both as a stylist and just a wonderful person to be around. There have been times when she has had to color my hair (I am an actor) and she can magically get my hair back to it's natural color post shoot... no roots... did I mention I have red hair? Not easy to do. I am not quite sure why the reviews give her $$... Her cuts are $175 these days (but maybe the reviews are old??). Regardless, she is a steal, even at that price point. Worth every penny, every time. read more

No effusive language could successfully convey the gem that is Nerrivik micro-salon, nor the talent of Alexis - dynamic owner and maestro with the scissors. For well over 4 years Alexis has cut my hair; I have never been disappointed in the resulting 'do. To be candid, she is not the cheapest stylist in Los Angeles, but I promise, she is worth every penny! Her haircuts grow out so well that I have often gone more than 6 months before scheduling a second cut. As a denizen of the eastside, I admit Beverly Hills is a serious trek for a hair appointment, but I'd travel anywhere to have Alexis cut mine. read more

I first found Alexis by seeing someone with an AMAZING hair cut and begged her to give me her stylists name/number, which was Alexis! When I first went to Alexis, I had easy, non-challenging long hair. She hooked me up with such amazing cuts best for me! Since then, I have gone through some health changes which effected my hair. Alexis has taken on the challenge and with product, education and her amazing cuts, I'm at the tail-end of the problem era, and almost back to being non-challenging again! I appreciated her so much before I ran into hair issues. She took what could have easily become a horrific, scary time in my life, and made it a time that was a non-issue, and gave me a cut to work with my challenges so I could regrow my hair and feel amazing while it was growing back. THANK YOU! She is so kind, and can create the perfect look for YOU. read more

I moved to LA from Vancouver BC in Aug 2010 and turned to YELP as soon as I arrived to find a new hair stylist. I came upon a set of impressive reviews of Alexis Roberts who was then at Helmet in W Hollywood. I booked an appointment - and I was impressed. When Alexis moved to Beverly Hills last fall, I figured it would be easier to simply find someone new to cut my hair in my neighbourhood. After a few months of mediocre haircuts, I decided it wasn't worth the convenience -- I just wanted an Alexis-cut again. I returned to her in December 2011 and am thrilled about her new set-up in a micro-studio at 338 N Canon (tons of free parking btw). Three reasons why I love Alexis: 1. She is an artist. She actually is. I feel like her work with my hair is just an extension of her work with canvas. 2. She has expertise, experience and vision. At my first appointment with Alexis, I had pretty short hair, and told her that I wanted to grow it out. I just sensed I was in good hands as she talked me through what the growing-out process would look like, how long it would take, and what to anticipate during the process. She was right every step of the way. 3. She has talent. Period. My cuts are always perfect for me. They grow out well. I get compliments. read more

Alexis is the only person I would drive across town to see! She is intelligent, funny and very hip. She truly understands the 'art' of hair and gives cuts that look fantastic, fit your personality and make sense for your hair and your lifestyle! I have followed her for years and trust her completely. She is truly a treasure!! read more

Love Alexis! Went to her for the first time and she spent the first 15 minutes just talking to me about my hair, it's quirks, and really learning about how it behaves. With that knowledge, she was able to give me an amazing cut that actually does what I want it to do and is totally manageable by myself. After the cut, she took me on a tour of the haircut - explained what she did and why and how I could maintain the look on my own. As someone completely inept when it comes to hair and styling, this is exactly what I needed. Plus, she is a super awesome person. Best hair experience in a long time and I will continue to go back! read more

Alexis is the best. Not only a wonderful talented artist with both paints and hair but she's an amazing person. It makes for an absolutely stellar experience. She does inspired and inspiring work with my crazy ass hair like nothing and no one I've ever seen or experienced. She's just unbelieveably cool and awesome in every way. read more

I found Alexis via a blogger I stalked and never has my creepy Internet behavior paid off so well. I have found in Alexis the ineffable quality you always hope to find in a hair stylist, an artist who understands not what you're saying but what you mean. Hate the commute, love the results. read more

I can NOT WAIT to get my hair cut by Alexis. She's been cutting my hair for 8 years and I have followed her all over this city because she is so talented. You know in 3-4 weeks whether or not the person who cut your hair knew what they are doing. Alexis knows. My hair sometimes looks better 3 or 4 weeks later. She's also one of the kindest, brightest people you will EVER meet, which makes the experience so much better. Yes, she actually remembers me, which is more that I can say for some of the stylists out there... read more

I didn't know such a depth of knowledge about hair was even possible until I met Alexis yesterday. She's a scientist of hair, with cheer, humor, taste, and focus. The woman below me here is right in that first sentence. read more

I am so grateful to have found Alexis! I went to cosmetology school last year, so of course my hair has been damaged from all the different tints, bleach and toners I was experimenting with. When I came to Alexis I had kind of chunky highlights on top and the ends of my hair were totally bleached out. I had been trying to get out of the all over bleach but it wasn't working the way i wanted it. The second I sat in her chair I felt so comfortable and told her i wanted hombre but not the hombre that everyone has, and I wanted the highlights to still be white blonde. She new EXACTLY what I was talking about!!! She got it done very quick, and the color came out perfect! She didn't even need to tone it. Needless to say, I will not be going anywhere else for my hair. read more

Alexis is better than ever in her new space! She has everything I need and want without the noise, smells and attitude of a large salon. I never have to ask for anything in terms of my hairstyle--she knows what will look good on me and cuts my hair perfectly every time. So, even though I have to schlep over from the east side, it's totally worth it and I hope that lots of other people will take advantage of her new space and all the flexibility it give her by getting over there soon! read more

Once you go with Alexis you'll follow her anywhere! This is the third salon I've followed her to over the years and I'm really glad it's her own. She gives a great, stylish haircut that always grows out really well - which is good because I am not great at getting myself into the salon. She listens to what you want and knows just how to make it happen. read more

Alexis has been my stylist for over 5 years. I call her my stylist because she sculpts my hair to fit my mood, my style at the moment, and my face. She is a wizard with curly hair and understand the complexity of the many textures. I have followed her from salon to salon throughout her career. I will follow her anywhere. Thanks Alexis for my haircut today. I'll be back soon! read more

I got my first haircut in LA by Alexis Roberts in 2003 when she worked at a salon around the corner from my apartment in Silverlake. I've followed her from those humble neighborhood roots (HA HA HAIR PUNS! YOU GET IT??? you get it.) to her current one-woman studio in Beverly Hills. If you have curly hair like I do, when you find someone who gives you a great cut you stick with them. Alexis is funny and cool and smart and you should have her cut your hair because she is really really good at cutting hair. read more

Beverly Hills is probably the most inconvenant location is all of LA for me to get too, and I go there every 6-8 weeks because there is nobody in the city who gives as good of a hair cut as Alexis! She is also a great hang and her new studio is comfortable and cozy. read more

The math on this is so simple. I'm a 35 yo man. I've been going to Alexis for 10 years. Through 4 different salons as she advanced in her career. I travel a lot, so I have also had many other people cut my hair within the last decade. The simple part is this... when Alexis cuts my hair, people ALWAYS say "your hair looks great!!!" I mean random strangers I meet, anyone. It always astounds me with it's consistency. When other people cut my hair, nobody ever says that. Seriously. It's simple. Alexis is highly highly highly recommended! read more

AMAAAAAAZING!!! Well, I'm going with the idea that fate brought Alexis and I together, for I found her in a completely random way and I took a leap of faith. I'm THRILLED that I did. Alexis is a true artist who cares about making the person in the chair look good and feel good. The whole experience from start to finish was easy, peaceful, playful and joyous... And, the best part about it is that I LOVE my haircut! I just turned 40 (yikes!); was cutting 9 inches off of my hair to donate it in honor of my beloved Mom who passed away from brain cancer in 2011; and I was going to have really short hair for the first time since 7th grade... So, the pressure was ON! And, in every way Alexis delivered. I cannot write enough wonderful things about her as a professional; and artist; and a person. Go to Alexis NOW and never look back! read more

Alexis is the best. Even though she's in Beverly Hills and I'm on the East Side, it is worth every minute stuck in traffic on Santa Monica. She's the coolest and gives me an amazing haircut that lasts for months and months and months. She truly is an artist and I get endless compliments on my hair for its unique look. I have a pretty professional job so I have to look like a "Monday" sometime, but after hours with a little gel I can get to "Late Friday" in a snap....Alexis is just the best. read more

Alexis has been cutting my hair for about 7 years... She has given me so many different types of haircuts from boy-short to now very very long with a lot of layers. At every stage she has nailed it. I truly recommend her to anyone who wants an awesome hair cut... read more

Alexis is amazing she is part laid back bohemian and part scholarly intellectual its pretty incredible, basically she is the coolest person I have ever met. She has an amazing eye for shape and can tailor any look you ask for to work for you. Words cannot express how great she is, she is worth every penny and then some! read more

Alexis is a smart, intuitive and wildly talented artist in every medium she touches. Since we are here on the Nerrivik page, I'll just talk hair. I first arrived to her (darling one-seater) salon with an orangey blonde mop on my head which she expertly remedied. My hair behaves strangely to color and Alexis takes on the challenge with enthusiasm and patience. She is a master at creating a desired result the day-of as well as seeing the long-ball for growing things out. I have been 100% pleased with every color and every cut. As a human, Alexis is down to earth, funny, sharp as hell and beautiful to the core. read more

Alexis has been my stylist since 2004 and is the only person I trust to cut my hair. Not only she is a TRUE ARTIST when it comes to everything hair and beyond, she is very professional and just an around cool, intelligent and inspiring person. So... if you're looking for someone to infuse some magic into your life, I highly, highly recommend her services with absolutely zero reservations!!!! read more

i've been seeing alexis for hair styling for over 8yrs now. i've followed her from salon to salon because she is honestly worth it. when i first met her, my hair was a wreck from home-dying and even a cut that i gave myself. she saved it, plain and simple, with color-correction that i probably should have paid triple for. i was made a believer right then. her new space is beautiful and eliminates a lot of things i hate about salons (namely attitude from whoever is behind the front desk). alexis is the only person i genuinely trust to cut or color my hair. read more

Alexis is a master stylist. I've been going to her for almost 7 years now - following her around wherever she goes. She's amazing at asymmetrical and unique looks (a true artist) but can also work with traditional - which is what I usually go for. She just did my color for the first time and I got so many compliments on it - she rocked that too. I wouldn't go to anyone else. She's also super interesting and creative and one of the nicest people I know. read more

Alexis is amazing! Both with cut and color She is truly the best kept secret in Beverly Hills. She knows how to keep you looking fresh and in style. She's high end but without the circus atmosphere, and attitude that comes with some other upscale salons. She has a private salon, and spends focused time with you discussing your look- and she's laid back and fun to talk to to boot! She could work at any high end salon- and has, but I prefer the unique one on one experience she offers. Be willing to pay for her expertise, she's well worth it. Note: this marks her as moderately priced salon, and that may be true, if you're used to paying $400 for a cut, but I would call her prices well worth it. She's still less than what you'd pay if she worked in a large salon. but don't expect to get her expertise for nothing. You'll be happy when you leave! read more

I've been going to Alexis since about 2006, I have followed her from Silver Lake to Beverly Hills because she's the best. Her skills are excellent, of course, but she's also just great to spend an hour with. Reasonable and down to earth, never ever the least bit snooty but with all the knowledge and products and skills of a super fancy-pants snooty salon. Adore her. read more

I live in Seattle but visit Alexis at her studio whenever I have a trip to town and am in need of a haircut and foils. She's the best colorist I've ever had and my highlights look so great for so long. I also love the conversation! It's always a fun and great experience. read more
