I still remember the last time I rolled up on a Jiffy Lube. My two year old sons interest in machinery made me confident this opportunity to get up close to oil and lifts would become a crowd pleaser. Upon entering at 9 AM on a Saturday with a small bag of toys a cup of coffee and a "waiting space" we had the opportunity to get to know "Todd" who was also waiting for his vehicle - we were the only ones up in need of an oil change. His greasy long hair glistened and it appeared he gyrated to the beat of a drum we did not hear, he continued to pivot quietly in the corner of our confined space. As much as I expected him to pull a little "it rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again" he awkwardly asked me how old my son was with a menacing grin. It is entirely possible this dude was harmless, I thought this as my son started to mimic his dance moves and impatiently realized we had been sitting here for 30 minutes. It is also possible he wants to skin me and wear my hair as a hat. Much like the ongoing question about licks and tootsie pops the world may never know. What I do know is that I will never have to wonder if I am in close proximity to a serial murderer while getting my oil changed again. "The Mobile Change" comes to my work and completes all my basic car maintenance needs without trying to upsell me on nitron super premium oil or something else equally as irrelevant to a person who consistently went 3,000 miles over the recommended 3,000 miles between changes. I say that in the past tense because now like clockwork the Mobile Change completes my car maintenance every 3 months, I never have to think about it. These guys are amazing, changing my oil has never been more convenient! I received a text message shortly before the tech arrived letting me know he was on his way. When the tech arrived I handed off the keys and he brought them back to me after the work was complete. I also like the fact that you can pay for the oil change online when you book the appointment so I didn't have to mess around with paying the technician after the work. They left a very nice thank you note in the car and topped off my wiper fluid as well! This is a great idea. I no longer have to worry about taking the time out of my day and rearranging my schedule for an oil change or have to sit in the waiting room reading terrible out-dated magazines. I'm concerned that nobody had contacted me, but my credit card has been charged. I just wanted an oil change. Now I don't have a means to get refunded, emails and phone calls haven't resulted in any remedies. I don't understand how this was suppose to work, but used website to schedule appointment and pay. Changed my oil in my driveway before 8 a.m. and left ME a thank you note! My car has a funky oil set up but it was no problem for mobile change. The Mobile Change is great! I used to change my own oil, then proceeded to do the Jiffy Lube approach, but as far as I'm concerned, there's nothing better than having your oil changed while you work. Michael and crew show up at our office in Lawrence each month and take care of anyone that is due. If someone were to ask me to describe my ideal oil change experience, my response would be "Oh s--t, I probably need an oil change- When did I drive to Texas... was that June? Has it seriously been 6 months- wait no, that can't be right. Where do you get your oil changed? Oh right, you asked me. I could probably go to that place on Wornall on Monday after school... I have coupons, just kidding these are expired." Mobile change is awesome because they come to you, so you barely have to think about getting your oil done, and then they keep records for you and send a reminder when its time again so you really seriously don't have to think about it. Since I'm a total cheapskate, the price was not 100% exciting to me at first compared to all the places where you theoretically coupon up and then it's only 25$, but in reality I have never left a goodyear or a firestone without blacking out and somehow ending up spending 70$, plus I have to carve out an hour for the whole lame experience. Pass. Also its a local small business, which makes me feel warm and fuzzy (as warm and fuzzy as an oil change can make one feel anyway.) The technician was on time, courteous, fast, and left everything clean. And its true, they totally leave a thank you note. I was like "No, thank YOU" Great experience. read more

I just finished my 4th oil change with The Moblie Change and I'm glad the rest of the yelp world loves them as much as I do! I drive a ton for work and know very little about cars so getting my oil changed is something I have always dreaded doing. Before I had been a frequent shopper at Firestone and whatever company I could find a good deal and was always stressed by the laundry list of repairs the tech found while changing my oil. 'If you don't do this $800 repair you likely won't make it home alive!' Then a friend recommended Mobile Change. My friend is a teacher and loved that her oil got changed while she was teaching, it was affordable, and since they come to you it used zero of her time. I get mine changed about every 6 weeks and like that they don't try to over sale yet keep me posted on what needs to be done. After this last change the tech reported that my air filter was fine for the next couple thousand miles but should be changed in one of my next appointments. I've tried a few auto shops around town, but have always felt like I was getting upsold on so many other products or fixes to my car. Change this belt, this filter, new tires, new pump here or there...it was exhausting trying to keep up with all of the recommendations. I purchased a new car recently and when it was time for the first oil change, I turned to Yelp to find a quality auto shop for a regular oil change. And come to find out, not only do they have several stellar recommendations...but these guys also come to your house for the maintenance. You don't have to go anywhere!!! You get set-up online, a technician contacts you for an appointment, they show up at your doors for the keys and then within 30-45 minutes they're done!!! They didn't show up for a scheduled appointment on Friday afternoon and there was no email or no call. Spoke to a rep earlier in the week on Monday who confirmed for Friday. On Saturday when I called to see what happened, I spoke to the same rep, Amanda, who remembered making the appointment with me earlier in the week and expressed confusion as to why no one showed up. She offered to call her boss and figure out what happened. When she called back after talking to her boss she said her boss said "there was some sort of mix up" but didn't really offer any other explanation. When I expressed my disappointment over not getting it done on Friday after making arrangements to be home, she did offer apologies and stated "everyone makes mistakes but it wouldn't happen again". I do appreciate that she did apologize and that others have had good experiences per Yelp, but won't be trying them again. Currently making other arrangements to get my oil change done which is frustrating given the time and inconvenience that should have been avoided had this company showed up as agreed upon. read more
