I have shopped The Missing Piece Tampa and Palm Harbor over the years and it became my go to place for treasures from high end manufacturers such as Henkel Harris, Stickley, John Widdicomb, Henredon, Friedman Brothers and others. Greedy!! That's the best way to describe this company!! It will never be about the customer here! Short story, my friend lost her young husband quite suddenly & needed to move away to grieve with her family. In haste She sent some items to Missing Piece and the same day the furniture arrived at the store she called and asked for her furniture back because I was willing to buy it and pay her so she could have the money immediately as she desperately needed the funds...These people refused to let her have it back in spite of her dire situation because they knew it was high end furniture and they wanted their half of her money or her piece of flesh!!! I even called them explaining the situation and again they refused trying to use the excuse she signed a contract!! Like they are some Big corporate company....And the Missing Piece in this situation is their Compassion!!!! There is an obvious reason they barely have 3 stars and if you need to consign there is a great place up in Carrollwood with great prices and great honest customer service, it's called The Room Exchange or sell and buy your furniture on FB marketplace. Avoid stores like this that don't put the customer or integrity first!! read more

If there's no star option I will give them that. I purchased a few furniture from this store and they promised me that my furniture would be delivered to my house for the standard delivery price $135 dollars. On the day of delivery, the mover was asking for for additional $50 because they only sent two movers and they needed to have to a third mover to move the furniture. I told them I already paid for the delivery fee and expected the furniture would be delivered to my house without any additional fees. I called the Missing Piece store and they didn't do anything about it and told me that is the problem between me and the moving company. I was trying to work with the store and their customer service was very bad and slow. After a week now I still haven't received my furniture and I have to cancel my house warming party because of this. Very disappointed and regret that I have purchased from this store. read more

This is a great furniture consignment shop specializing in gently used, higher end furniture. The store actually has two locations in the same plaza two doors down from each other so don't miss out on the second show room. The prices are very reasonable and the price goes down the longer the item stays in the store. The staff is very courteous and helpful. They do not push sales on you and I found my visit very enjoyable even though I did not find the type of item I was looking for. They have a great feature on their website where you can check out their new inventory the received the night before. I highly recommend this store for anyone looking for nice furniture at an affordable price. read more

If only I bought the wet bar the first time I saw it. I love this consignment store. I honestly love the ideas of consignment stores. The longer the piece sits in the store, the less expensive it becomes. Therefore, it becomes a game of risk deciding if it is worth trying to wait the requisite time to decrease the price without the piece being bought. They have all types of furniture and it is beautifully arranged. In the back there are a ton of bar stools, so if you ever have a need for that, go straight to the back. In the front the pieces are arranged like rooms displaying the way it would look in your home. Every room is beautiful. This is a place where you will not find junk. Yes, things are pricier than your average thrift store, but that is because these are all extremely well made pieces. There was a beautiful living room table, very solid, that was about $700, to give you an idea of the pricing. It was definitely worth it and if I was in the market for a unique living room table (that was pretty massive honestly), I would have gotten it. This place is a gem and make sure you go to both stores (they are separated by an unrelated store in between so you have to walk outside to go to the other half). read more

One of my favorite places to shop. Been going there for many years. I always start here when looking for something new for my house. They have the nicest name brand pieces around at a fair price. Not cheap like Salvation Army but fair. The staff is also very knowledgeable and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask for a designers opinion and bring pictures of your home space. They will help keep an eye out for what you want. Highly recommend. Wish they had one in New Tampa which is where I live. read more

Beware when you purchase furniture from the missing piece furniture consignment store. The item that I purchased I can't use because of missing pieces. I had a moving company come to my home to move from my home to the garage. While the item was being moved, we discovered that the item have been rebuilt. I paid way to much for that item to be a rebuilt piece of furniture. read more

The furniture is wonderful but about 2 staff members are not. Customers formerly paid the delivery charges to the clerk at the store who handled the purchase and now the delivery people take the fee. Bruce the clerk sided with the company saying they do not give specific time frames perhaps treating me so badly because I am a female. The delivery boys came at 5:30 and I was the one who called at 3 PM to see approximately when to expect my item. Then one said the charge was $145.00 instead of the $110.00 that the sale person Bruce quoted saying they are a third party. Was told I could get a discount for waiting so long and did not since the price was jacked up. Will confront the male manager soon hopefully in person. Never again! read more

So Ive seen the reviews and have bought MANY MANY things from this store. Any person going in knows its used furniture,there will be something wrong with everything.. hence the price as is. Ive used their delivery services, which they gave as a suggestion as they dont have a moving company which they explain. One service was good the other scrapped a side table. I called the moving company and they agreed to fix it or buy it from me. But wait, Im going to call the store and complain about something that has nothing to do with them and then complain like a child when I call and dont get what I want,,, oh and then yelp about it because Im a child you should be super embarrassed, do you have any friends?.? WOW people, please know where your going and what your shopping for or eating. Read the reviews and read into them. Im going to blast you because I didnt get what I wanted or you should break the rules for me because I spend money somewhere. Please go back under the rock you crawled out from. read more

What a ripoff! Don't waste your time I have been a customer of Missing Piece for years, both buying and selling furniture. However, they lost me today after some shady business practices. I arranged a furniture pickup in May 2019. When the team started to disassemble it, they discovered it was damaged and I couldn't consign it. That was disappointing, but OK. Fast-forward to Jan 2020 and I receive a check for the sale of one of my consigned dressers. The check is for $13.25! They slipped in a $90 charge for the pickup in May (the pickup where nothing was actually picked up). When I called and learned the reason, I explained how it is ridiculous that instead of billing me for the non-pickup pickup months after (which I would have disputed then, by the way), they deduct my check when I come back as a repeat customer 8 months later! They insist it was in the fine print that you are billed if the team refuses pickup. It's not like I was trying to scam or mislead them during the pickup. It was a surprise - one that was discovered within minutes. And I have a history of consigning with them! But refused to refund my money. That's so short-sighted! I would have rather left my dresser on the curb than sell it for $13.25. Jerks. read more

I am relocating from Tampa to Austin Texas. I called Missing Piece (MP) a month before my move date to discuss 2 pieces, both Ethan Allen media cabinets in very good condition. I spoke to a representative, Barbara in Consignment, and explained the pieces in detail. I could not send pictures as I was in Texas and the pieces were in climate storage in Tampa. She said to call when I arrived Tampa to send pictures & arrange pick up. When I arrvd Tampa, I called & spoke to a different person, Tess, to explain all this again. She informed me that MP does not accept any Armoire cabinet/media cabinet without other matching pieces....news to me. Then regarding the second Ethan Allen modular media cabinet, she asked the color (cream with walnut crown) and immediately said they do not sell, so NO, they would not take this piece either. She did not even request a picture, as I was now in a position to get to the furniture in our storage unit. This put us in an especially stressful bind with regard to loading and moving these pieces. Missing Piece is misleading customers and not helpful. Consignment customers BEWARE! We called 2 more consignment shops, but they could not accommodate our schedule or needs. I would NOT recommend dealing with Missing Piece. read more

Missing Piece has great & interesting finds. Definitely need to shop frequently because pieces come & go so quickly from rare expensive antiques to everyday furniture. I've bought & consigned successfully over the last 8 years. Prices can seem to start too high but discounts become very fair for a great consignment store. read more

This store offered to consign a very expensive antique chandelier. They kept asking to hold off on bringing it in because chandeliers where not selling in their store. I gladly held off and obliged them, while I was getting offers from online buyers. I did not sell because I was committed to the missing piece. It was finally time to bring it in and they didn't take it because the wiring was older.... duh, the knew it was a 50 year old chandelier. I would not recommend this store for doing business with, they dont honor their commitments. read more

Interesting place where you find eclectic pieces for your​ living experience. I really like this place--one thing to note if you find something you like you should buy it. I was indecisive​ the day I went and found a coffee table I liked but decided to think about it. Well someone else purchased it. For me,​ I would only select certain pieces of furniture for my home. Hopefully, I will find that special piece for my home. If you see a piece of furniture you like but, do not really like the price. I recently purchased a very unique dining room buffet and love it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I do have some tips to make your shopping easy here... 1. If you see something you really like BUY IT. It won't be there tomorrow. This is consignment and one of a kind furniture. This is not Rooms to Go. If you delay it will be gone. 2. If you need special attention do not shop here on the weekend and then write a bad yelp review about how bad the service is. This is when they do most of their business and it is crazy busy. Try to go during the week when things are much calmer. 3. There are two Missing Piece stores in Britton Plaza on S. Dale Mabry. Make sure you walk through both. read more

I so love "The Missing Piece" ! Both the Tampa, FL & Clearwater, FL stores. I love getting up in the morning & visiting the site to see what "new" finds I might be able to get. Yes, I actually check the site almost everyday. I have also consigned furniture & purchased furniture from both these locations. I have never been disappointed... The truth is with so much furniture on the market today & some site's that have turned out not to be a very safe option to purchase. I find that doing it through "The Missing Piece" is the best option for me & my family. No strangers calling or coming to our home. I feel a tremendous value in safety in this option. Despite what we might think that "our treasures might be worth" the fact of the truth is that "they are not new" and at no other time in my life have I seen "high end furniture "pieces being re-sold so inexpensively. Which is just a sign of the tough economical times that our Country has gone through. Therefore ,one has to understand, that one can only sell for what the market will allow. The staff at the missing piece has ALWAYS been helpful,curteous & professional. At no time have I ever been pressured to buy or consign anything. Having said all of this I must say that I am addicted to beautiful furniture & it keeps my husband happy if he feels I am using our resources wisely. I love to decorate our home & "The Missing Piece" always delivers...They only take gently used & clean items, it is in fact stipulated in their guidelines for consignment. Sadly, I cannot recommend The Missing Piece due to their lack of customer service when the moving company they referred CRACKED the dining room table they delivered. All parties have agreed, with the pictures to document along the way, that the moving company is in error. Two people have tried to repair the table but it still has issues. The only offer the moving company has given is to refund the table, less the repairs, but they would take the table back! We would be hard pressed to find another table that we love as much on consignment. This isn't how you take care of the customer. I don't want to give you the table so you can turn around and sell it yourself. read more

I have consigned many furniture and decor items over the years with The Missing Piece. In the past year I've received 7 checks for items consigned with them. I've always had good service, good communication, and clear expectations set. Read their terms of service and every email carefully so you understand the process and there won't be any surprises. I have sold tens of thousands of dollars worth of furniture on my own on Facebook Marketplace or in the past Craigslist. I always consign with The Missing Piece for things I know they can sell for more and will have the patience for the right buyer to come along (or reduce the price incrementally if an item doesn't sell at the initial set price). I've always been pleased when a check shows up in the mail and the only "work" I did was posting the photos and description on their consigner's website, and meet the moving crew for pickup. Easy! We bought a leather sofa and loveseat at the Tampa store for our new home and we were pleased with the price. They agreed to sell our older sofa for which we paid over $2000 less than five years ago. It was in very good condition and they stated it would be sold for $850 of which we would get 50%. They then had it cleaned (without our notice or approval) and charged over $160 (for a single sofa?)! Then the whole COVID19 issue happened and they eventually sold the sofa at a reduced price. We got a final check for $50.00!!! We feel ripped off and I can't recommend them for consigning your furniture. read more

Love this store. It makes me want to throw away all of the furniture I have to get our furniture here. There is a great variety and everything is well made. The store is well laid out with a series of living rooms and dining rooms and offices all made up so you can just cart the whole collection home. They have looks from contemporary Manhattan apartment style to heavy ornate sets that look right out of Game of Thrones. Lots of cool hanging lamps and art also. Had to get my fiance to drag me out before I bought too much more than the desk and chairs I went in for. read more

I'm a longtime South Tampa resident and I've consigned and shopped at tmp for several years. I've read the featured reviews as well as the "not featured reviews". At the risk of having my last name published here on Yelp by Candace B., I have something to review about The Missing Piece (tmp). I have to say that some people do consign some very nice items at ok prices but mostly they are dinged up or scratched which is the nature of buying used. I have purchased items there but 99% of the items that move through the store are not something I personally would ever want to buy. My first consignment was a smallish round dining table and four chairs at a price lower than I thought was wise, but went along with the suggested pricing since I needed to get rid of it. After tmp picked it up (at no charge) I looked for it online for several days after but never saw it posted. I called the store and discovered they had sold it right away. Good thing for them they priced it below market value, not so great for me. I bet I could have gotten another $50 or so for the table based on the speed it disappeared. One time I purchased a table but was not able to take it home until the next day. When I picked it up, there was a dirt / dust footprint on top of it. The table had been placed underneath a shelf so it was apparent that someone in their warehouse stepped on it. On a second item a long scratch appeared that I did not recall at the time of purchase. Despite bringing this to the owner's attention, she accepted no responsibility and made no apology or offer to contribute to a resolution. Recently I tried to consign a couple of items and went through the online quoting process. After some back and forth with the owner, we agreed to what I thought was a final price for both items. Keep in mind the business takes HALF of what you consign. I called the store and asked to arrange for pickup. No mention of any change in the contract. Next day I received a call from a woman with some moving company asking for $40 dollar pick up charge per item. I emailed the owner about it. She who wrote back "the fee was in the quote system". I really have to call her out on that because at NO POINT DURING THE QUOTING PROCESS DID TMP NOTIFY ME OF A $40 PICK UP CHARGE. It's my opinion that it is a dishonest and misleading practice to change a deal once you've already agreed to a final price. I cancelled the transaction and will not be consigning anything with tmp. It's much better for society to donate items to a good cause instead of giving your money away to this kind of operator. read more

I had a very unsettling experience with The Missing Piece. I visited the showroom in Tampa and brought photos of a desk that we wanted to sell. One of the store's representatives expressed interest and indicated that she had at least one customer who might be interested in purchasing it. She said even if the attorney wasn't interested, she felt that the desk would sell quickly. I followed up and emailed photos for their review of several items. The desk was the only item that they were interested in. The next step was to arrange for a truck to pick it up, and I paid the service that handles this for The Missing Piece $195 to pick up the desk. The transportation company arrived on July 3 reviewed the piece. There were several minor scratches on it, and one of the movers called the owner of The Missing Piece. She rejected the desk and didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me about it. The same day, I contacted PEL in Sarasota. They picked up the desk and it sold within a week. But there's more. On August 26, I was contacted by the same representative of The Missing Piece and she said that there was someone who was interested in the desk. She said "Attorney wasn't interested yet have another couple that is interested." My conclusion is that the people in this company do not communicate well with one another. One person told me that she wanted the desk and gave me the information for it to be transported to them, at my expense. I can only conclude that the attorney didn't want it, and they decided that they didn't want it in the showroom and someone failed to communicate this to me. Meanwhile, I'm out $195. read more

I have bought and sold many pieces of furniture at The Missing Piece. I type this as I am sitting on a fabulous bed purchased from the Britton Plaza location. Today (Sat 01/19/13), at the Britton Plaza store, I was treated so poorly. Upon entering the store, I was greeted with "Can I help you we close in 14 minutes". After 45 seconds, another sales person bellowed: "CAN I HELP YOU!" in a tone that sounded like: "Can I help you - please leave quickly". I left the store at 5:50pm, after doing a 2 minute lap around the store. I was shocked by my treatment, especially after having been a loyal customer for 10 years. read more

The Missing Piece is operated with such an arrogant attitude they are offensive to deal with. They act like they are only in business to do the consigning customer a favor, that it is all about the customer. Get real, they are making money hand over fist without any financial output for product on their part. Yes, it's a great idea and (sort of) good for all parties involved but the Missing Piece wouldn't be in business without consignors and the personnel don't have to be so arrogant and dismissive to the consignors. Their customer service is a joke. The only positive reviews are written by people who purchased furniture for ridiculously low selling prices, but I can't find any positive reviews from consignors. read more
