Requests to have maintenance done would be ignored/lost, paperwork would go missing and the agent we dealt with was just plain rude. And we weren't living in one of those dodgy falling down share houses where neither the owner nor the tenants gave a shit about the place. We were four respectful girls living in a beautiful Queenslander. Eventually, we gained direct contact with the owner who agreed that the service at Ray White Toowong was shambolic and they switched to another agency. Thank god! Ray White Toowong made renting a house way more difficult than it had to be.

One poor lady on reception trying to field calls, and handle the 4-5 groups waiting around while she was on the phone. The gentleman in front of me was doing the same as myself, and his property manager had lost his welcome pack with keys etc. so I had to wait while the only lady in the office looked through the whole back room, whilst also running to answer the phone 3-4 times in between. My pack was there thankfully, and I was out of there quickly, but they've really got to anticipate the level of people coming through at any one time. One poor person trying to run a whole office, answer calls and find things for people coming through just isn't going to work! Definitely not her fault though, she was doing an excellent job, but there's only so much you can do with one person. On another note, communication with my new property manger has been abysmal. Several unanswered emails, to rather critical questions, so I was able to move in on the right day and ensure my furniture fit, are still unanswered... Even an apology email would be welcome.

However, the experience I've had so far is drastically different to that I've had in the past. The agent I'm leasing with is Anita and she's always been incredibly quick when dealing with requests or queries. It's true that they do like everything in email, but this doesn't bother me too much as I'm always online. In the four months that I've been in my apartment, they've inspected twice. This seems slightly more frequent than normal, but I suppose from a landlord's perspective it means they're thorough. It's also good from a safety perspective as they make sure you check the smoke alarm and safety switch. Really happy with Ray White Paddington--highly recommend.

I have been leasing an apartment through Ray White Paddington for over a year and have been satisfied with the property management and communication skills. My apartment is not new, since moving in a few things have fallen apart due to the apartment's age- not us. This is usually resolved after a few email exchanges, then they will send someone to come and fix things within a week or so. Our property manager named, Chester, seems to be on the ball with everything. If you are not a fan of email communications, that is when you will have issues as Ray White really focuses on this form of communication; even when you call them, they will ask you to send them an email. Because I am a savvy Gen Y-er, this is not big deal for me. I have herd countless stories from friends complaining about their Real Estate agencies and I can honestly I have never experienced anything similar from Ray White in Paddington.

I used Arthur Conias recently and could not have been more impressed. This might have to do with the problems many face with their real estates in the rental market, but Jonathan from Conais was professional and caring in his approach and made doing business with them easy. Like all real estates their main object is to push the sale, but I found Jonathan was more than happy to sit down and talk about our needs and likes before showing us around. He quickly found a few places that matched our needs, and before we knew it we'd found a great place and quickly sorted out the paperwork. My next move of houses will definitely be organised through Arthur Conias. It's no surprise that I'm starting to notice lots of Arthur Conias signs in front of house and units in the Toowong area.

They strut around telling people they work in "real estate", hoping that you'll think they're actually a sales agent. Having had to endure a couple of these "managers" in my years, one quickly learns which ones are actually reasonable people with low IQ's, and which are jerks. I'm not sure how they do it, but every single one I've dealt with at Arthur Conias seems to be in the latter category. Some seem to lack even primary school maths abilities, or basic english comprehension. Then come the lies. I could write a short ebook about their nonsense... They've wasted enough of my time and money. Don't let them waste yours! I would NEVER rent from these morons again, and now that I'm looking to buy, my eyes skim over their listings whenever I look. I was renting a share house through RE/MAX for the last little bit of my life and had to visit them…read moreon numerous occasions. RE/MAX were always very helpful and are very easy to contact. With stranger or complicated queries (such as an overpaid water bill) they were quick to contact everyone necessary to sort the issue out. Dave (I forget his last name) was always very helpful and whenever we called up about repairs or any matter in fact it was dealt with very speedily. Their office is in Toowong, a short walk around the corner from Toowong Village. However, for most things, RE/MAX either called, emailed or came to the house. It was only ever when I needed to drop of paperwork that I visited their office location. These guys were very easy to deal with and help keep the stress low when it comes to share housing, moving, repairs, and just general house worries.

Though they are terrible at communication and our property manager can be quite rude at times, emails are always answered promptly and any maintenance needs fixed within a week. They seem to have little to do with the body corporate, which makes some repairs on the exterior near impossible to facilitate and neglected to tell us that our apartment was on the market to be sold when we moved in. Other than that though, have had no problems with the real estate.
