The cornbread is a bit bland, and the mac and cheese could be cheesier. Other than that, good food overall. I would like to come again and try their dessert. I love fish but, if I find bones in it I'm done! The reason goes way back to when I was a child. My sister got a couple of fish bones stuck in her throat and I thought she was dying! Ever since, I've avoided eating fish but tonight I couldn't resist. I had salt & pepper catfish bites, cabbage, fried okra and a house salad. Not a bone in them AT ALL!! They were so delicious. Actually everything was delicious. Our waitress was very attentive to us as well as all her other customers. The floors were clean and the bathrooms were very clean as well. While helping a friend move to the local area we decided to give The Milk Bar a try. We could not have been any happier! Traci was incredible, and was able to recommend different things from the HUGE menu to each of us. Sweet tea is exactly as it should be. The Catfish Nuggets were so fresh and light... simply perfect. After hearing several townspeople praising it, my Grandson Cameron and myself tried it after hiking at Hanging Rock. Cameron had the breakfast burger and I had the catfish dinner with fried okra, cabbage and hush puppies. Both dishes were delicious as we shared with each other. The catfish was lightly breaded and full of flavor as was the fried okra, the hush puppies were as good as any I've ever eaten. The breakfast burger was also very flavorful and cooked to order. We told the grill man and owner, Jerry, how very good everything was. He and his daughter both were both so friendly and cheerful. Great food, good prices and very nice people, what's not to like? I highly recommend if you're near Hanging Rock State Park and are looking for a good meal. We will be back! read more

What a hidden jewel! I was in Walnut Cove for the DMV and planned to have a late lunch while there. Boy, am I glad I did! The Milk Bar is a family kind of place apparently run by the entire family! My "waiter" was around 4-5 years he was so cute and closely guided by his mother! I ordered Steak Fried Chicken with white gravy, green beans, deviled eggs and fried cornbread! This was the perfect comfort food with it's super crunchy breading and juicy tender chicken breast! We are planning our next meal there soon! If you haven't ventured to The Milk Bar try it when you can! read more

Perfect for what it is. Both kinds of fries were good. Burger delicious. They left off our bacon (no biggie). Only real complaint is cheesesteak cheese options are American and cheddar. No provolone, mozzarella, or Swiss. Also no breakfast at 11a on a Saturday. read more

Located in the center of what is a less than idyllic main-street, the Milk Bar offers good food served by nice people. The hamburger, though advertised in the menu as a 4 ounce patty, was much larger. It tasted good- clearly fresh ground beef, but was slightly overcooked(dry). Fries tasted fine, but portion was small. Server was very nice when taking my order and discussing the menu, but did not check on me once during my meal. They also have an array of other foods including multiple vegetable options. Decor is cute in spots but also has a somewhat industrial vibe. Price was a bit high. read more

They had quite an assortment of veggies but I specifically asked which veggies were homemade.
