But the worst part is how dirty the manicure station was. Also, she pulled out the implements from her apron. This gave me concern for the implements not being sterilized. After using them she then gave it a quick wipe with alcohol, which is not following Board requirements. Also, the nail file and sponge buffer was pulled out her apron and appeared to be previously used. Needless to say I will not return to this location. For those who want to know the Board's requirements for implements sterilization: Section 979. Disinfecting Non-Electrical Instruments and Equipment (a) Before use upon a client, all non-electrical tools that can be disinfected, excluding shears, shall be disinfected in the following sequential manner: (1) Remove all visible debris. (2) Clean with soap or detergent and water. (3) Completely dry tools with a new, clean paper towel. (4) Then totally immerse in an EPA-registered disinfectant with demonstrated bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal activity, used according to manufacturer's instructions. (5) Licensees or students shall wear protective gloves or use tongs when removing tools from the disinfectant. (b) The disinfectant solutions specified in subdivision (a) shall: (1) Remain covered at all times. (2) Be changed according to the manufacturer's instructions or when it is cloudy or contains debris. I called at 9 AM this morning to schedule three pedicures for 5 p.m. The start of the problem was the lady on the phone was really rude asking why we couldn't come earlier. No problem I understand we all wanna go home after a long day, but I'm still at work. We arrived for our pedicure at 5 PM and were immediately seated. We were done with our pedicures at 5:26. Anyone that gets frequent pedicures understands the concern. Please see pictures. We will not be back. $150 loss. Only pictures of my toes. So the very first time that I had gotten lash extensions, I did it using a Groupon. (This was many…read moremoons ago circa 2012? I think) Needless to say, it looked like my lashes got into a war AND Lost not even a week later, so I was really hesitant to get them, I called around to see and I just couldn't fathom spending that much money on my eyelashes without knowing if they would actually stay ON! You know when it comes to beauty etc, I do believe in, "you get what you pay for" but I took a chance with Mayra because 1. She is RIGHT by my house (pure laziness and I drive a gas guzzler) 2. I read some reviews and they seemed legit. 3. I called and spoke to her and she explained everything to me. So I booked my appointment...and let me tell you...I FELL IN LOVE and never looked back! Turns out, the glue the other people used, pretty much might as well have been some damn super glue. Mayra uses a high-quality hypoallergenic lash glue that adheres the extension to your natural lash, and when your actual lash NATURALLY falls out, that is when your extension does as well, as opposed to cheap & janky glue, that sticks your lashes together, makes them heavy and they rip out your actual lashes, when these lashes fall out, my natural lashes are still intact!! I don't have missing chunks of actual eyelashes, like I did on my first go round. I was uneducated and a virgin at this lash game, what can I say... These bad boys can last at least a month depending on me...because, I am ROUGH on my lashes. I MEAN ROUGH...tee hee hee I wouldn't go anywhere else...EVER! I have been going to Mayra now for about 5 years...every 3 weeks there I am...I am coming in there like a wrecking ball (because I am crazy like that) but leave there every time looking like a tame pussycat on my tippy toes blinking like a sexy vixen because now I am... She's completely professional, and come to find out, we both have a love for running!! Albeit I am very sloooowww....but still. Let me tell you there is nothing like waking up in the morning..splashing some water on my face...throw the hair back to go to the gym and I am looking f***** fabulous! Or just going to the grocery store and you're presentable. Once you lash with Mayra...I promise, pinky promise...that you'll be lashed for life.
