My husband and I became familiar with the MG Group because they sold several units in our building. John Dasdelen was the broker involved in those sales so we knew he was the broker we needed to talk to. The units he sold were sold quickly and for a great price. We hadn't considered another broker for the job and upon contacting John and meeting him we knew he had the tenacity we were looking for to get the job done. John did not disappoint. He is always available to answer a question and that immediately put us at ease. John found the perfect buyer for our place, no hassles, no haggling, it was better than we could've expected. We just purchased a new home but in the future we will absolutely contact John for any real estate sales or purchases. I myself am a broker and watching him work was nothing short of inspiring. Thank you John and the MG Group for making experience simply outstanding. read more

We can't say enough good things about the Mario Greco Group (specifically, Mario and Alex Netty). We put our place on the market last June, and despite a situation that was difficult at best (the condo quite frankly didn't have a lot of living space and was in a neighborhood where there was lots of competition), the Mario Greco group did OVER sixty showings and they never complained about the resources it took to constantly show the condo. The supporting team was equally as impressive. The "team approach" worked wonders - we loved getting write-ups (feedback) minutes after each showing ended and the office staff (everyone from the photographer to the scheduling assistant) was nothing but wonderful. As for the main players in our experience, Mario himself was always accessible by Blackberry (the guy must sleep with it under his pillow as he answered emails while on a European vacation) with candid advice on the market (always looking out for our best interests) and Alex was the constant strategist (he has an uncanny ability to see the "bigger picture" in the Chicago market and has a great feel for the comps and what it takes to sell a unit). What impressed us most was that when we FINALLY got an offer and had to walk-away due to unforseen financial circumstances (READ: not being able to come up with the cash because we were so underwater), Mario and Alex were completely understanding about the situation and quite frankly, showed us the class, compassion and respect that we had come to expect. We're won't hesitate to utilize Mario Greco (and Alex) again in a year or two when we try selling the condo for a second time once this awful market picks-up! read more

Do not recommend. Doesn't appear they are interested in showing properties. Problematic for both buyers and sellers. I want to add that the MG Group responded promptly to my post which I appreciate. However, their response even further justifies my feelings that this provider does not have the best interest of either buyers or sellers. I've moved on to other providers that are more accommodating and frankly less confrontational with their customers. The long and short of the situation Is I as a buyer requested to view a property and was declined. I respectfully ask that This company no longer contact me. As someone pre approved and ready to buy this ordeal has already cost me too much time. read more

I was blessed to come across The MG Group when I was selling my condo almost 2 years ago. The previous broker and agency were difficult to work with and definitely not for the client. Step in Mario and his team who immediately gave me the energy of caring and passionate people who wanted the best for me and didn't make me feel trapped with extensive contracts which I appreciated. They paired me with Shani Shtern who is a firecracker in every sense of the word. She's efficient, no bullshit and gets the job done with ease. We had a difficult buyer and it dragged for months...Shani helped keep me together and navigated the closing like a pro. She also helped me find a new place and drove me to probably 30 places and made sure each place met my needs and didn't waste anyone's time. I couldn't be happier and am pleased to say we've kept working together on other projects and she will definitely be my go to when I decide to move again. read more

Mario and his team helped me sell my condo in Chicago. The condo was under contract within 1 week and closed within 30 days all while the city of Chicago was on lock down due to the pandemic. The entire process was simple and easy. Living in California and selling a property in Chicago can be very stressful. Mario and his team went above and beyond to ensure that I didn't have to worry or stress about a single thing, through the entire process. Their level of communication is key. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell. read more

Selling a house can be a trying time, but Mario and his team made the process as smooth as possible. We relied on them extensively as we had moved out of the home and out of the city while the house was up for sale, and they were on top of every detail. We received great coverage for our listing and a high end home in Lincoln Park sold in a very short time. We would not hesitate to recommend this team if you are looking someone to represent you in the sale of your home. read more

Support team 5+ stars, Mario 2 1/2 Great support team makes up for Mario being a bit overbearing at times. Got the house sold within a weeks 98.5% of list yet list was a little aggressive. Lots of showings and his junior agents (Victor in particular) were extremely detail oriented in the report out. I would use him again because his team was very effective but would not recommend him without a pretty big asterisks per his communication style and preference to close deal vs get the seller the most cash. If I was to go with his advise we would have left around 10K on the table. To be fair the market was slow and if the buyer walked the next one might have offered less.....still left a bad taste in my mouth. In addition the lawyer he recommended James Zazakis was superb. read more

On the market three days. Two contracts. Closed at FULL asking price. In todays(06/2010) market. The price is what I wanted. The agent follow-up and follow through is second to none. They know what they are doing and how to sell a home. You will not find a better broker. read more

I picked the Mario Greco Group because they produce results by knowing how to price effectively. I tried to sell on my own and when nothing was happening I knew I needed someone who had a vast market of prospects. What I did not expect was the ease in which they made my house sale for me. From the initial phone call when interviewing this firm to the final steps after closing, I literally didn't have to do anything except give personal info for necessary paperwork. Dealing initially with Mario in deciding where to price my property was easy based on his knowledge of market evaluations. My house sold within days because of this knowledge. His staff constantly kept me in the loop on a daily basis and offered suggestions which were beneficial to my sale. They were great! I would recommend the Mario Greco Group in a heartbeat. We first used the MG group to sell our Lincoln Park condo. After selling for practically full list price in about a week and providing exceptional customer service along the way, we decided to ask them to help us find a new home. We spent about 6 months working together to find the right place. We changed our mind a few times about what we were looking for, and each time they helped us switch gears and thoroughly research. We ultimately purchased a 3-flat multi family unit. When it came time to rent the other two units, we contacted the MG Group again. They helped rent our apartments quickly and for our desired rents. That makes four times we have used them and can imagine there will be many more in our future. We also referred two of our neighbors who had successful condo sales. I can't think of one negative thing to say. read more

There is simply no one in Chicago that is better to work with in the real estate market. Mario Greco has assisted us on both the sale and purchase of various properties and to say he is the best in the business is an understatement. Not only is entire team a pleasure to work with, but he personally ensures his clients are well represented and taken care of. From the beginning of the process to the end, his group works tirelessly on behalf of their clients. Their hard work is demonstrated through the care they take from the initial listing and marketing push, through showings and the contract process, making everything go smooth all the way through closing. His group knows the Chicago market better than anyone, and knows how to maximize the potential through honest feedback and recommendations. I've used them several times and he is the only agent I refer friends to because he is simply the best! read more

We recently sold our condo and had nothing but an excellent experience with our realtor Cyrus Seraj and the MG Group. We have actually sold a few properties over the past 5 years as well as had listed this unit with another realty group and this was one of the best experiences we've had. The communication was outstanding - prompt and complete following each showing and then each step of the way while the unit was under contact. I would absolutely recommend Cyrus and the MG Group for anyone looking to sell in the city. I couldn't be more appreciative of the service we received, making what can be a very stressful process very easy. read more

Do not bother to look any further than the MG Group if you are looking to sell or buy a home. Nobody does it better! They are a reflection of the group's founder Mario Greco. He has set up a flawless system from start to finish that is unparalleled. We interviewed three different groups, but the minute we met Mario we knew he was the one. He is a fighter and he's not going to leave anything on the table or any stone unturned to help you sell your home fast and at the best price. He is on top of everything and included in every email that goes back-and-forth. He always knows exactly what's going on and takes action when needed. Little did we know that his group would exceed every hope and expectation we had when we first signed on. Everyone there works so incredibly hard. Everyone there is incredible, but Cyrus Seraj is such a fantastic realtor that I cannot begin to praise him highly enough. I don't know of anyone who would have worked as hard as he did to help us find a new home. He honestly made us feel that we were his only clients and that he didn't have a life outside of working with us. At a moment's notice, my husband would email him with the latest homes he would like to see. Cyrus responded back immediately with a time and date to go for a showing that was always very convenient for us. I don't think he ever takes a day off because whether it was a weekday or the weekend he would spend hours with us looking at homes. After spending so much time with him, I can easily say he is one of the most thoughtful people I have ever known. You could also tell that he was held in high regard by the sellers' realtors that we met. He is just such a nice guy! He always put our needs in front of his. He was extremely patient with us throughout the entire process even though we kept changing the parameters of what we were looking for. His knowledge of the area and of homes in general was impressive. He has such an attention to detail that even though we are "seasoned homeowners" he would catch things that both of us had missed. He was supportive of us every step of the way no matter how ridiculous we were. Our son and daughter-in-law plan to buy a new home in 2019. They actually already look forward to working with Cyrus for both selling and buying when they do. read more

The Mario Greco Group is in a league of their own. Several years ago Mario was helpful to us when we were in a bad situation with another agent in the city and even though he didn't sell our condo for us we knew we'd use him for our next real estate transaction. Luckily, since then he has expanded into the suburbs by adding Lehigh Cohen to the group. We wanted to sell our house in Libertyville quickly without taking too big of a bath and Lehigh talked to us about pricing it to sell in 60 days (using comps and his experience, etc.). We agreed on a price and the house sold in 6 weeks! Lehigh, Mario and the whole Mario Greco Group are extremely responsive (Lehigh talked me off the ledge a couple times leading up to closing) and we definitely got the feeling that Lehigh was trying to get us as much money as possible. Someone recently asked me how we chose Mario's group. Here's why we chose them......All real estate agents charge the same. Why would you not use the #1 guy?! read more

There is a reason why the Mario Greco Group is successful in a down real estate market -they work their asses off. To say they are responsive, is an understatement. Every email is answered in minutes, no matter how big or small or stupid the question is. And at all hours of the day. We've used Mario on the buying and selling side, and are just blown away with the service we received. You can count on Mario to give you sound honest advice -regardless of if its what you want to hear. I would highly recommend him. My wife and I recently went through the home buying process with Alice Jordan and are very happy with the property! We started last June and wanted to take advantage of the short sales that were in city and find a good deal. That being said the process was a bit longer than it should have been (we closed at the end of April) as a few of the deals we were in fell through. Alice was very patient and helped us find exactly what we were looking for and found us a better property each and every time! I'd highly recommend the entire Mario Greco Group as they were a huge part of the reason why the sale finally went through!! read more

Two years ago my wife and I made the decision to finally make the move and search for a bungalow in the city of Chicago. We worked with other Realtors but both struggled to sell our condo and couldn't find just the right property for us. That's when we turned to the MG Group. They knew the neighborhood in which we were trying to sell our condo very well, in fact they were the leading realtors in our neighborhood. They also knew the area in which we wanted to move to, with several of the agents actually having grown up in the area. Their marketing strategy on the sale of our condo was sharp and precise, they never let our listing go stagnant or sit for very long before creating ways to freshen it up. Communication was always fast always on point and sometimes was even happening after regular business hours, this made it very comforting - knowing what was going on with the sale of our condo and the purchase of our new bungalow With MG Group you're not simply getting an agent, you're getting a team. A team that is playing for you, that's the difference. Everyone has a specialised role that they are an expert at, the funny thing is they're all experts at everyone's role and can tag in and out at a moments notice to get the job done. You really feel like you are part of a winning team when you work with these talented professionals. Our dream has come true thanks to the MG group. We own a beautiful brick bungalow on Chicago's North West Side, and we were able to sell our Uptown condo for a great market price. These are the experts. I quite simply would not recommend anyone other than the MG Group. read more

I had a horrific experience working with Mario Greco. If you are a buyer (or seller) and ever come across him or his realty group STAY AWAY. He misled my realtor through the entire negotiation, then after we'd spent 3 days negotiating and settling on a final price (verbally and over email) he baited another buyer with my offer to get a higher closing price. If you ever come across him or his company, be prepared to deal with lies, baiting and a horrible person who looks to screw others over just to get what he wants. I'm sharing this review so no one has to go through the level of unethical and crooked behavior I experienced working with him. read more

It was an absolute pleasure to work with MGGROUP. MGGROUP deserves all the praise we can possibly give. MGGROUP made a typically daunting, stressful endeavor of buying a new home while also selling one a relative breeze. The responsiveness from MGGROUP was always rapid and thorough, and their knowledge of the Chicagoland real estate market was amazing. Mario assessed the reasonable market value for the condo we were selling like a genius, and his team essentially did everything we needed to list and show successfully. We just handed over the keys. Lehigh Cohen, who helped us with our search for a new home was simply amazing. He had all the answers we needed, knew the north shore and northwest suburbs like the back of his hand, and kept us relaxed and in good spirits as we chased down a new home. He gave us all of his attention and never once did it feel like he didn't understand our exact needs. I felt taken care of and informed every step of the way. I could not ask for more. We look forward to recommending MGGROUP to anyone we know who may have need of their services and expertise. They truly understand top-notch customer service. -Lamaretta and Trev Kelderman read more

We had been in our house for 10+ years and were relocating out of town so had to sell with sooner being better than later. I did homework on agents in our area and who have history selling in our price range. Two were invited to visit and provide feedback. Haakon's communication worked for us, both on the day of his visit as well as in his follow up. He was clear with thoughts about the house and with strategy ideas around listing it. The pace of dialogue in person, on the phone or over email was fast enough to demonstrate that he was motivated to earn the business of selling our house but importantly slow enough to show that he was thinking through the situation in detail and trying hard to help us get the house sold at the best price possible. He had an appropriate tone and business-like attitude. We selected Haakon and MG Group to be our listing agent. The sale of our house took longer than we'd have liked and had twists and turns. MG Group helped us prepare the house with staging, conducted many months of showings and once we had a buyer, they navigated the contract and closing stage. From start to the very end Haakon and MG Group were professional, courteous and maybe more than anything else extremely thorough. There was even a situation requiring some work after the closing of our sale. Even though by that point he didn't necessarily or technically have to do so, Haakon stayed on that task until it was completely resolved. Haakon Knutson and MG Group was a solid choice for the sale of our home. read more

Mario and his team of professionals will give you the best chance of selling your home quickly at a great price. Following the birth of our son, my wife and I needed to sell our cramped condo. At the time (May 2009), condos in our neighborhood were not selling, selling at pre-2004 price levels, or were in foreclosure. The prospect of selling our condo for a good price seemed unlikely. After receiving a glowing recommendation from friends, we met with Mario. He demonstrated extensive knowledge of the market and a deep understanding of our neighborhood's unique characteristics. Combining that knowledge with demonstrated experience (top 1% of realtors in Chicago every year since he started), Mario outlined a plan to sell our home and executed. How did he make it happen? Home Appeal - Provided expert guidance on how to prepare the condo to "show" well. He will also perceive the major shortfalls and help you address them. Priced Right - Market knowledge used to price our condo at the right price. Not too high so as to attract buyers, but not too low so as to leave room for negotiating. Compelling Listings Everywhere - The language in our listings emphasized the features that buyers cared about. The photography and virtual tours were done very well. The listings appeared everywhere. Showings - Scheduled in advance, timely, thorough. You will get updates on your mobile, via email, and receive recap spreadsheets. They stay in close contact with everyone who walks through your home. Negotiations - Mario really excelled here. We got a depressing offer that was 15% lower than our asking price. Mario managed to swing the final offer significantly in our favor. Contract and Sale - Mario linked us up with an outstanding attorney who protected our interests and ensured our sale went through. END RESULT: Mario and his team managed to have our home under contract within 2 months. My family is very grateful to Mario for the result and wishes him and his team the best. read more

We liked Mario at the initial interview because he was honest and direct. We also liked his team approach to the different elements of the sales process. Instead of Mario handling everything on his own, he employs a team of very capable people to help keep everything moving along smoothly. We thought that maybe we wouldn't hear from Mario during the process since he delegates the work, but this was absolutely not the case-- Mario was cc-d on all e-mail correspondence and chimed in on many issues. He and his team were extremely quick to respond by e-mail and phone. We liked Mario's negotiating strategy and appreciated him running his strategy by us before he discussed things with the buyer's agent. Other good things about the group: we received great feedback via e-mail after each showing, Mario did a great job putting together the MLS listing, the photos of the unit turned out great, and the attorney Mario recommended was fantastic. The only negative instance in the two months that we had been working with the team was when the buyer asked for more money for repairs after the inspection. In an effort to get the deal done quickly (as there were critical timing issues b/c our unit was a co-op), Mario instructed our attorney to offer more money than what we were comfortable giving up. It all worked out fine, but we should have been consulted before the attorney was given instructions from Mario on what to offer. Mario was simply working to try to get the deal closed quickly and successfully, which we appreciated. We give the Mario Greco Group five stars because overall the customer service experience was superior, and Mario and his team sold our unit the first week it was on the market, which is pretty amazing in this down market! We would recommend this group to anybody looking for a capable sales and marketing team. read more

Decided to go with Greco Group after they sold me on their amazing track record for selling on the north side. Unfortunately, my experience was terrible from the start. After over two months on the market, individuals from the Greco Group constantly changed their "strategy" for selling and never communicated to me what they actually thought it would take to sell the unit. I never spoke with Mario as he outsources all the actual work to a revolving door of dozens of junior agents. I was told from other realtors that I have connections with that the Greco representatives hosting showings knew little about the area and even less about my actual unit. At my first hint of disappointment (via email) I suggested a conversation about changing course and within minutes, without even a phone call, Mario dropped me as a client and even canceled a showing that was scheduled for later that same day. It was clear that his strategy was to sell units in bulk and cut losses with anyone/anything that presented a challenge. If I had know that Mario treated his clients with this level of disrespect, I would NEVER have signed up with this very unprofessional team. Chicago is a big city with many qualified realtors. I strongly suggest anyone selling their unit to shop around and find an agent that will actually invest time into your relationship. At least find someone that respects you enough to meet you in person or call you over the phone. read more

I just wanted to take a second to write my first Yelp review ever on behalf of Cyrus Seraj. He was absolutely AMAZING! My apartment hunt was going terribly and essentially taking over my life. Most people I had spoken to were only interested in rushing my boyfriend and I to make decisions we weren't comfortable with. That was until Cyrus came along. I scheduled a viewing for an apartment that I didn't realize was farther north than I wanted to live, so I called to cancel and he called me back offering to send me new places that matched my criteria. He was always super responsive to my millions of emails and texts, and never got annoyed with all the questions I asked (which was probably really difficult). Not only did he show us a few places on his day off, but he was basically on-call for us any time of the day no matter how many times we pestered him. He made my apartment search so much easier than I ever thought it could be, and was there to help us every step of the way with the application process, knowing which questions to ask the owners, what to look for in a lease, etc. You name it, he had us covered! He's very down-to-earth and easy to talk to, and extremely knowledgeable about what he does. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a place. read more

This was my fifth transaction with the MG Group--or as my husband and I now refer to Mario and Haakon--the dream team. We embarked on a total gut rehab in late 2017 that, as often happens with construction, took much longer than expected. However, there is no doubt that the deal would not have gone through without Haakon running point and shepherding all of the actors involved. The MG group guided us from our initial offer through close with probably--no exaggeration here--a million emails, calls and meetings with the sellers in between. I am confident we could not have obtained our dream home without the MG group. The support offered from the entire team, including immediate feedback after showings, input regarding the construction process, recommendations for inspectors and the occasional therapy session, was remarkable. There is absolutely no better team to seek when buying or selling your next property. Mario, Haakon--thank you! It has truly been a pleasure. Anna and Jim M. read more

If you want your place sold in a crappy market, call Mario. Last Spring we decided that it was time to make the move from the city to the suburbs but were faced with the unappealing task of selling a condo bought in 2008 in a declining market. It was a necessary move for us but very stressful. Mario and his entire team carried out the task in under four months in an efficient, business-like manner. Mario is a no-nonsense guy. He isn't going to hold your hand or guide you to try to sell your place for more than it's worth. He and his agents will accommodate showings at all hours, give you immediate feedback on showings, respond to any concerns immediately and do what it takes to keep your place freshly marketed until it's sold. I'm not really sure when Mario is not working. We've dealt with part-time agents that don't prioritize you and your sale. Mario made us feel like we were his only client and exemplified professionalism. We also used the Mario Greco group on the buy side. The suburbs guy, Lehigh, did a great job helping us to understand an initially unfamiliar vast and daunting suburban spread. He was patient with us as we discovered that our budget and wishlist didn't quite match. In the end, he guided us to a community we didn't initially consider. We found a wonderful house that we are thrilled to be in. We were happy with the purchase price as well. In short, the Mario Greco group will get the job of selling your place done in as painless of a manner as possible. They were a pleasure to work with from start to finish. I highly recommend them. read more
