Tired of avocado toast - let's face it, I can do it myself at home, without spending nine effing pounds - I wanted to try the famous eggs Benedict. Accompanied by two slices of sourdough toast bread and hollandaise sauce they were fire! I also wanted to add some bacon just to keep it light... because why not?! I was expecting classic American bacon in thin, crunchy and super scorched strips, but I think this is the English version: thick and almost rounded slices, more like a slice of meat, but still delicious af. The meat was tender and cooked evenly, nicely browned at the edges.

Our food came out in a timely matter and was absolutely delicious. They veggie breakfast was so tasty! The only thing I'd change would be to add a vegan sausage or avocado in place of the missing egg from the standard veggie breakfast. The banh mi was perfect as is! We finished our food and soaked up some son. Everything about our experience was enjoyable and we will definitely be returning!

We met some friends for a late brunch, all nursing sore heads there was an interesting array of orders going in. I had the chorizo hash with poached eggs, the eggs were cooked to perfection so no complaints there, the hash was a great texture and portion size but it was well over seasoned and this really put me off. My husband had a veggie with burger with added pulled pork (sounds strange) the burger was good although a bit too much bread and the fries were a bit soggy. I do really like the decor, it's got an industrial vibe with added urban chic going on, there's some rather inviting looking a chairs in the window. We also had a red berry iced tea, which was ok, it quenched the hangover thirst so job done! All in all a pretty average experience, there's plenty of exciting independent cafés around the area that i'd recommend trying before settling on BTP!

Then, a while later, the waitress told us we had already received our food (we hadn't.) I'm not sure where she thought we had hidden all our plates and cutlery!? We also asked for water, which the waitress only remembered right at the end of the meal...then instead of bringing some over, she told us to go to the till to pick it up ourselves. I ordered a smoothie, which was pretty disappointing (it was pretty watery, more like sweet milk than a smoothie...) so I wouldn't bother with that next time. All in all, although my review sounds a bit negative, I enjoyed my breakfast. It was good, but hopefully it'll be better once the staff learn the ropes.

All in all Friska gives off as great vibe, has top notch food and drink and eveyone inside is very friendly!

But I thoroughly regret my lack of caffeinated enthusiasm when I go to places such as Boston Tea Party. I had a bit of time to kill earlier so dropped in for a brew. I luckily managed to find a table as it was really busy. Looking around and sussing the place out, it was full of students with text books and macbooks, creative types with moustaches and macbooks and young mums with cake, but without macbooks! Everybody looked as comfortable as if they were in their own living rooms and the sound of everyone chatting really made you feel the atmosphere as soon as you walked in. It was great! The venue is split into 2 levels and the decor is light blue with lots of wood paneling, which works really well. I can imagine it feels just as comfortable in summer and winter. I had a Organic Dragonwell Green Tea which was amazing. I sometimes find green tea to be a little earthy, but this was really light and a little bit citrusy. I definitely recommend it. I'll be coming back to Boston Tea Party very soon!

The best feature of the other one is the garden - which this branch lacks. But they've tried to make up for it with indoor ambience. It's clearly a more modern affair than it's counterpart down the road, with wooden flooring and a large, spacious counter area to order your drinks and food at. There's 3 levels of seating - the ground floor which has a few tall tables and stools, a lower floor which has some comfy sofas and is generally the most pleasant and peaceful area, and a mezzanine level which has more sofas and some standard tables. As a coffee shop it does a fine job, ticks all the right boxes and has a nice atmosphere, but in comparison to it's Bristol father shop, it's got a long way to go.
