I'm getting very jealous of St Albians. They are really lucky with some of the pubs they have. And here is another one. I love pubs with a little blackboard behind the bar detailing the constantly changing selection of ales. I enjoyed a Sauvin So Good and an Old Woman's loose gown (wahey!), both from local brewers I believe. They also had 'guest crisps' so I enjoyed some pickled onion monster munchgreat tasting but foul smelling.
The layout inside is pleasant but most people were in the small area outside leaving me with just the Machine brothers for company (fruit and cigarette taking care of their younger sibling, quiz). In the evenings, things get much busier as this is another of St Alban's small live music venues (as a found on my more recent visit).
Might be my favourite pub in St Albans, but I can't quite decide. read more
