I walked into this shop as a walk in and asked for a shapeup/lineup. They gave me a barber that had to be new because it took 30-35 mins just for a simple shape up. She had extremely shaky hands and I knew this wasn't gonna go well. Another barber had to come help to make sure my tape was straight but not much he do on the edges because she cut to far in and now my forehead looks funny. I asked her what is this and she said "do you want me to get somebody me to fix it." Overall experience was not good. If I ever come back it won't be back to her. It's extremely unacceptable to have someone call themselves a barber and mess up someone's head. Just imagine if I asked for a full cut like a fade, she would have taken easily an hour and screw up something else. I'm not gonna put her name on here but I hope she sees this and gets it together. 10/10 would never go back. Felt like I was getting my hair cut by a high school friend in his backyard. Barber actually suggested I do not cut the top of my hair after he spent 20 minutes with the clippers on the same spot. You'd think a barbershop who has someone coming in after a bad cut would want to convert a customer for repeat business. Not this place. They did fix up the awful fade someone else gave me but also seemed to feel that was appropriate to charge full price for a cut that was prob 5-10 minutes of light clipper work. Anyway, no credit card payments and no change for cash without wandering the nearby shops make this a barely 3 star experience. You can probably do better. read more

I was tired of getting poor haircuts at other "chain" establishments. So, feeling like it couldn't get any worse, I jumped into Modern Man on a whim. I was very happy. This establishment takes appointments and walk-in customers. It appears the place caters more to men (hence the store's name). The place is nicely decorated and furnished. The styilists are very friendly and accommodating and easy-going. I felt very comfortable. I was seated right away and was serviced by a hair designer named Hunter. This guy was fantastic. My hair is not easy to manage and/or cut (its stick-straight). But this guy (Hunter) had no problem with providing a great cut. I told him what I wanted and he achieved it with meticulous attention to detail. Don't expect a quick cut with Hunter-- or any of the other stylists in this shop. I noticed another customer in the chair next to me--- his stylist was just as focused as mine. I'm extremely picky about my hair and the cuts I get. When I was younger, I went to the same stylist for 26 years. Then, I moved to Florida and have been struggling to find somebody to give me a good cut. I think I found him with Hunter, at Modern Man. The price was extremely reasonable and the atmosphere of the shop is very comfortable. I saw children coming in with their fathers, too. I'm definitely going back to this place. It's hip and they give a good cut at a nice price. Try it out. read more

The half haircut was ok i guess, however i didnt appreciate the profanity and all the gay jokes. My little brother is a proud homosexual and we had to leave mid haircut because they did not care about anyones feelings besides themselves. Continuously made jokes over and over. I came in with my 2 yr old and my 4 yr old so we could all get haircuts. Although my 2 yr old cried the whole time, the barber was patient, took his time and produced a high quality haircut. All three of us had different barbers and all got really good looking haircuts. I can cut hair/fade and do all of out haircuts myself at home normally. Since we were on vacation here, I took a chance on Modern Man Barbershop. The price was very reasonable, they were able to accept credit card (which is rare) and when I brought my boys back home, mom was really happy with how everyone looked. Any reviews saying this is like an old fashioned barber shop are way off the mark! It's much more for young men. Seems to be more for newer specialty cuts than traditional. The barbers on a Tuesday were all younger. They played some rap video when I was there, not that it bothered me. All into the special young men's greetings and handshakes. Luis is the best barber Ive had in my life and I have lived up and down the east coast. It sucks that I live 4 hours away from him now but anytime I'm in south Florida I make sure i stop at Modern Man... I had a pretty bad experience here. I showed up as a walk in and things actually looked a bit promising to start. I was sat pretty quickly upon arriving, I was greeted nicely and when I sat down I gave the barber whose name was "tux" a detailed description of what I wanted done with my hair, along with two pictures of my previous haircuts done the way I wanted them. He looked understanding of the things I said and proceeded with my haircut. I was long overdue for a cut, so the beginning bulk was just removing a lot of excess hair, however once it came to detailing he started asking me questions about what I wanted done with my hair that diverted from what I'd asked him to do with it originally. Once it came down to the point where he wanted to know if I wanted it any shorter, I told him he could go about a half an inch more off the very top but no more off the side. He proceeded to chop up the entire top of my hair, including the side and made it way more than half an inch shorter and also made it way shorter than it was in the pictures I asked him to compare to. He made my hair look like I had a toupee on. I asked him to just razor up my edges and finish the cut and he did so. I wasn't very happy with the tape job he did and he unconfidently told me I should "keep my front line natural" seemingly because he didn't want to do the tape even though I've gotten my tape done every time I've gotten my haircut without any hassle from the barber. He seemed apologetic after all was said and done but you can't take back a bad haircut, and really all he had to say was "I mean, it doesn't look bad." But the point is it wasn't even close to what I asked for and if I'd known that was what I was going to be walking out with, I would've never walked in. Thankfully my hair grows fast so this shouldn't be an issue for long, however I feel I paid $25 for a mediocre at best haircut. I was very unhappy with the results and I won't be giving my business to this barber shop again. read more
