I have had mostly good service, except for Joshua yesterday afternoon. I came in for a $22 haircut, and left with a $42 bill, because he had traded me up to an extra $20 beard trim that I neither wanted nor needed. (My beard is already very close-trimmed.) He asked me if I wanted to have my beard shaved with a razor, and I said, "No, I trim it myself with clippers," and then I pointed to his clippers to indicate what I meant. He took that for a request to use his on me, and about two minutes later, my bill had almost doubled. Note: His English isn't all that great, and he tends to mumble a lot. He never communicated that what he was going to do would cost extra. I told him I'd pay the bill, but that I was never coming back again. To be fair, I suppose in his mind, he had simply sold me an extra-cost option. But, in my mind, I never agreed to it, and would never have if I had been asked. I can easily trim my beard at home, and do so regularly. If I had thought about it, I would have said that what he was doing was simply a part of the haircut. read more

I used to come here. My former barber, Carlos, is amazing. He has been cutting my hair since I was just a little kid. He is a great guy. But if you're looking for a good haircut, I don't recommend this place. This place is good at simple or old-fashioned haircuts, but not for more modern hair. Not the friendliest place. Walked in and instead of being greeted at the door, I had to walk up to one of the barbers and state my business. Not that this is the biggest crime in the world, but a good business should be more welcoming. "Ummm... Hello, I'd like to get a haircut" "Ok." ... The person, who seemed about as friendly and welcoming as Rueben Blades playing Daniel Salazar from Fear the Walking Dead, just stared at me and waited for me to speak, which was annoying -- that's not how you're supposed to treat a client coming to your place of business. The silence was awkward. When it became obvious that the barber wasn't going to invite me in, I finally asked "Is there someone who can take me?" "Yeah. Cash only." "Is there a place close by that I can take cash out?" "No." At this point, I got tired of the attitude and monosyllabic replies. I BRIEFLY thought of saying "Ok, I'll go find an ATM somewhere else and come back" but then I came to my senses and said "Fine. I'll go elsewhere. Thanks anyway." And that's exactly what I did. Say what you will about chain stores versus mom-and-pop places, but chain stores have built-in quality control. None of this treating customers like garbage nonsense. I went to a nearby chain store who welcomed me when I walked in, took my credit card with a smile, seemed genuinely friendly during the cut, and waved goodbye when I left. They use combs to lift the hair and cut with either a scissors or straight razor blade. (One of them actually had a selection of 11 scissors sitting on his work table.) Nothing fancy, just a great old-school barber shop with good conversation if you want it to go along with your haircut. It sits across from Lesiure Village so the clientele is senior and nobody is in a rush, barber included. Hot lather, mustache trim, and deft scissors and comb work rather than quick mowing with electric shears like the chains. I had a horrible experience here on 12/10/15.I was having my hair cut by Victor who repeatedly moved my neck roughly without warning.When I told him that I had neck surgery-scar visible-& that he should be more gentle,he went ballistic on me.He cursed at me,ripped the cape off me & sprayed my face with the air hose.I jumped up & asked to speak to the owner.There were 3 other barbers there including carlos who I believe is the owner & none of them said a word.
