My first rough quote by a free tax preparer was $9,000 more than what Ivy prepared. She went through even possible way I could save on my taxes, she worked for me, not the IRS. Her office is centrally located, but you can also do your taxes remotely, which my sister has done since she moved to Orlando, then VA, then back to Orlando. I can't say enough about how wonderful Ivy was. She was calm and not critical of everything presented. My last tax CPA was curt, even accusing me of using my children's 529 when all he had to do was ask and I showed him receipts for UCF and study abroad, because I could not claim her, as she had aged out, he assumed she didn't exist. Ivy is always professional and her calming presence put me immediately at ease. She's also very efficient, she scanned all my documents in front of me and asked very smart questions, not belittling one. Ms Lanthier presented herself as someone competent in tax preparation of all 50 states including California. Yet she was unaware that crucial forms CA Form 568 and Form 3588 were necessary, and I was subsequently not informed about the mandatory LLC fee. As a direct consequence of her oversight, I'm now facing unexpected fines, interest, and penalties from the state of California that have accumulated over 2 years and will amount to over $1000! When I signalled this error I had to call her multiple times in order to reach her. When she finally answered after the 5th attempt, she agreed to file the revision quickly. However, it's been almost a week and I haven't heard from her nor is she responding to my emails, texts or calls with the filing deadline looming in 2 days. This has been the most disappointing and frustrating experience I've ever had with a tax professional.
