My family of 4 came here for lunch after doing Pikes Peak, ordered 3 sandwiches and one salad, and the kids each had the peach mate. Everything was delicious! The first bite of my turkey sandwich and I immediately tasted one of the best sandwiches of my life! The bread was so soft and warm, the veggies were perfectly ripe, the turkey was delish, perfection! My family were also very pleased with their orders! Their breads and pastries are all made in-house. They have a much larger menu at this location. I love the build your own sandwich option. The town of Manitou quiets after 7:30 on a weekday, but if you're about in town this is an amazing cozy nook to find an awesome sandwich. They also have great breakfast options served anytime. Feels like a country home kitchen inside, everything warm woods. Service was kind and friendly, made for an easy time. This would also be an ideal reading or study spot. My friends and I came down from Pike Peak cog railway and it's our first time visit this town. We were hungry after the train ride and spotted this cafe after getting off the shuttle bus. The cafe is not big but the vibe is very cozy. There's no waiter coming to serve you. You can go straight to the counter to place your order and the food will be served to your table. Wonderful experience! We just happened to end up in Manitou after coming down from Pikes Peak and what an adorable place! We stopped for some drinks here at Mate and so glad we did. I had an iced coffee latte and he had a hot mint mocha. Both were made perfect and the girl at the register was too sweet! I really liked the mint mocha, it was like a peppermint patty but not as intense, just the right mint flavor. The inside was too cute, with little tables under gorgeous murals. The bathroom was very clean as well. All around loved this place and this quaint little town. My only regret is that we didn't try any mate. We were in a hurry to grab and go. This is a review of our party of 4. I would give an overall rating of 4.5 if possible. Two of us had the Reuben and loved it! Three of us tried the mango tea and it was perfect! The other two had the Deli Pesto sandwich. One of our party said it was way too much pesto sauce on the sandwich and the other gives it a 4. The decor is very cute but very limited seating. I'd guess the whole place could accommodate possibly 20 people. We noticed a lot of people picking up take out orders though. It's on a busy corner in Manitou Springs so we parked a few blocks away and walked there. I was so happy to find the Mate Factor during our visit to Manitou Springs. Through a Yelp search I knew I had hit gold when I saw the menu. We have Yellow Deli had home and were familiar with the quality they offer and The Mate Factor did not disappoint. The restaurant is smaller than the NC site but the quality is 5 star. I got my go to Mango Mate and it was refreshing. I enjoyed the salad which was paired with their fresh bread, it was excellent. My husband had the poached eggs (breakfast options served all hours) and commented they were the best he had had. He also had a strawberry banana smoothie. The service was great, staff took time to talk with all customers and it was obvious that the Mate Factor is a favorite among locals as well as they called many by first name upon entering the restaurant. Parking in Manitou Springs is tight but it was worth parking a couple blocks away and taking an enjoyable walk to this hidden gem. We will definitely be returning during this trip. read more

Their Ruben was so good. Tender corn beef, perfectly toasted, with mustard instead of 1000 island. Never had Máte before, was refreshing and would order again. The staff was very welcoming, communicative and accommodating. They even asked if I'd like an extra pickle when I split my sandwich. Atmosphere is adorably inviting and everything is on theme down to their hand drawn menus. Sat in the back corner booth next to the open window on a sunny day and it was bliss eating delicious food while enjoying the breeze. Keep it up! Around 5 minutes in I said we should go somewhere else, but my better (and more patient) half convinced me to give them a little longer. Around 15 minutes later, after the employees had run out of excuses and the only other customer in front of us was long gone, the mix of hope and hanger was overwhelming.
