My husband and I visited on our wedding anniversary, and we're glad we did! We booked a couple's massage, and the room was very comfortable and nice. The beds were comfortable as well. We had Michelle and Shauna, and they were two of the nicest people we've met. They listened to our needs and made us feel very relaxed afterwards. At the end, we were surprised with a complimentary bottle of custom massage oil (we got to scent it ourselves). We enjoyed our massage and will definitely be returning. I would leave zero if I could. TLDR || We did not receive a massage. This was purely on interaction with the owner. There are as good, if not better, massages in town that have much more understanding and costumer oriented ownership. Go to Acuity Massage & Advanced Skin Care, Fruita Chiropractic and Massage, or Dancing Flower Massage. __ My wife received a gift certificate to the Massage Store following the premature birth of our child that requires a 2 month NICU stay. She booked a massage after the receptionist said they took all COVID precautions. Upon arriving, she found out the massage therapist was unvaccinated and the receptionist was NOT wearing a mask (funny it says masks required and staff wear masks as amenities on their yelp page). I'm not here to start a COVID conversation, but with a child in the NICU, my wife politely said she did not feel comfortable with the COVID precautions in place. We had just witnessed another family with a breakthrough case be barred from entrance to see their child for 10 days. I called who I think is the owner, Scott, to discuss this situation. We asked for a refund as we do not live in town and will not be able to use the gift certificate provided the COVID precautions in place. I explained our situation, and that with the current set-up, we did not feel comfortable. Rather than be understanding, Scott proceeded to tell us that it was our fault we don't feel comfortable. That we should have done more to request a vaccinated therapist ahead of time. We (incorrectly) assumed that following all COVID precautions would mean at least that. Rather than be understanding, Scott continued to nickel and dime us and charged us for the unused massage. We had gift certificates to three other places who have all been wonderful and adapting. Save your money here and go to the Acuity Massage & Advanced Skin Care, Fruita Chiropractic and Massage, or Dancing Flower Massage. They have all been delightful and understanding (and their massage reviews are as good, if not better!!). __ EDIT: Scott, I'd be happy for you to leave the whole story. Pretty sure its as simple as you didn't provide a situation that was COVID safe given we have a child in the NICU. We politely said it did not meet the standards you set forth on your webpage (see masks required on your yelp page above). As it is your business, that is of course your prerogative. We politely asked for a refund since you did not render any service, and you refused. As seen in tone in Scott's responses to other negative reviews below, Scott is quick to say the costumer is wrong if they are unhappy. There are plenty of other wonderful people in GJ that offer great massages. read more

I have been here before, however, this most recent time was the worst. My partner and I went for a couples massage and I personally had an awful experience. I had a guy that appeared extremely new to this job and was extremely nervous talking to me at the beginning and it was making me uncomfortable. He also was very young which made him seem extremely close to my age which was also something I don't appreciate from a masseuse. He asked what I wanted, I explained a focused area on my back and lower legs. However, I stated that I wanted a full body massage. He ended up only massaging my back and legs and nothing else, while also putting me in extreme pain. This ended up making me worse and much more tight than when I had gone in. The lady that my partner had was the complete opposite with my partner and was rude and disrespectful. The masseuse had asked her what she wanted done, and then ridiculed her when my partner told her. My partner asked for a full body and a focus on her back as well; when the masseuse asked if she had any areas of concern my partner stated how she had torn her patellar ligament. She just wanted the masseuse to be aware, for if she were to massage that area. However, her response, in a rude tone was, "we won't have time for all of this, we only have 45 minutes." We were both shocked by the masseuse's reaction, for my partner simply answering her questions. After we finish I can barely move because I am in so much pain and I am the passive type when it comes to conflict, so it is very difficult for me to say something. We then walked out the room to the reception area and Elisse, the woman masseuse, said to my partner, you need to come here more often, I'm sure you felt that you're messed up. Elisse then looks at me and says, "I'm not sure if your mother needs to keep paying for these or what, but you need to come in." Elisse had said this in a very sharp disrespectful manner, once again. I found these comments very unnecessary and quite rude, especially as I had paid for these myself. Harrison, the male masseuse that I had, was very polite and kind; however, seemed new and I do not think he is ready to be massaging clients yet. On the other hand, Elisse was extremely disrespectful, and gave a mediocre massage at best. Definitely the biggest waste of $155 and 45 minutes of my life! If you chose this massage venue, I highly recommend asking for masseuses other than Harrison (until he is better trained) or especially Elisse. read more

While I'm appreciative that I was able to get an appointment quickly and able to get in at the same time as two of my friends, the massage itself was super lackluster, and I won't be back. I was already wary when driving up. The business is somewhat nondescript from the outside, and not in a nice way. My first thought was that we had pulled up to a seedy motel. The reception area was super cluttered and didn't really invite a sense of relaxation. I will say that the service was super friendly, both from the receptionist and our massage therapists. But, I wasn't paying $75 for nice conversation and a smile. Essentially, what I got was an expensive rub. There was no kneading, no focus on pressure points or problem areas. I could feel that my therapist found some knots in my shoulders, but just as she would start to work them out, she'd stop and just rub everywhere else. And, the little bit she worked them out, I could barely feel her pinch. Also, I kind of got slapped around, too. Throughout the massage, it would seem like she'd take a break only to return to the same spot but with a rather abrupt, hard hit/push to my skin. I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but just rather odd and forceful. What I find interesting is that she went through all the motions of asking me where problem areas were, what kind of pressure I liked, etc. But then she didn't actually use that information to inform the massage. Excellent website that you can use 24/7 to book appointments. I was worried that when I moved here that I wouldn't be able to find a good masseuse but thank good I found the massage store. All are great but tried Kristin and request her on a regular basis! She knows where I have my pain issues and will focus more in those areas! I always request the two hour CBD massage but in the future will try some of the others like hot stone. Highly recommend this place andcthey also have all Kinds of products you can purchase for home use. read more

Proceed with caution. I had been using The Massage Store for a couple of years and had referred several others to them but will not any more. My husband and I both received 30 minute massage certificates for Christmas. I called and asked to book them at the same time (or one right after the other) so we could come together. I was VERY specific about the certificates I wanted to use. I was asked if I wanted them in the same or separate rooms and I told them I had no preference; that I would take whatever was available. They booked us into the same room and AFTER the massages I was told I had to pay extra for an upgrade! a "Couples" massage apparently costs more than two separate and comes with a bottle of oil. We didn't want or take any oil and I was NOT told it would cost more or else I would have made sure to book separate rooms. When I paid I made a note that I won't be back - ever! Later the owner emailed me a told me that I received an upgrade and therefore had to pay for it and explained that if I'd read my confirmation email I'd have known that.... EXCEPT while the confirmation email did have a dollar value, the certificates did not so I had NO indication that there would be any additional charges until after we were done. But clearly the money collected now is worth more than my past business. The massage therapists I have seen there have all done well and I was always comfortable with them but the sting of being charged for something I didn't ask for, especially when I was being flexible to accomodate them, will cause me to find someplace new. To reply: 1)I received a text from the salon asking me to Yelp after my appointment. 2) I dont have a price list but I did have trust 3) They did offer a credit but I'd have to go back and spend more to get it. A friend booked three massages for our group while we were in town for a quick getaway. We walked in and were greeted kindly and asked to fill out the paperwork. Once back in the room, we were all shocked by the experience. Two of us had almost the exact experience, which was not worth the $75 paid. We both described our experience as a really expensive rub. There was no massaging at all. I will say that I felt relaxed afterward, but I was looking for a massage and not a rub. The third friend said her person used gloves and small metal tools, which she said was odd and just ok. None of us will be back. read more

Received massage last week. Don't feel a whole lot better. The store is in a dumpy part of town off North Ave. The photos you see on a website are misleading b/c they don't show what the place looks like. It's a makeshift establishment. You arrive in a cluttered area of products they're trying to sell or store. The two chairs in the place look like dining room tables and are very uncomfortable. I have experienced other spas that have places to come sit down and relax before the massage, to wind down/ clear your mind. Instead, they give you paper work to fill out that asks, in my opinion too personal of information. You don't need to know my home address, my DOB or what I do as my occuaption. I'm here for a massage b/c I'm stressed, hurt or want to feel better. Do not bombard me if I don't want to share this info. You are lead into the massage rooms after going through the laundry/ break room. That's odd..... The massage rooms are decent/ok. Finally after leaving, I got a decent massage but felt trashy with the whole experience. I would not recommend to anyone this place in search of a relaxed or energized body afterward. read more

I can't even put into words how much better I feel after my massage from Tiffani! I was in the area and decided last minute to see if I could get a massage. I was able to get a 45 minute massage, and it is by far the best massage I have ever had! I plan to go back for a much longer massage and will definitely book with Tiffani. He made himself aware of the issues I have been experiencing and addressed all of them and gave me suggestions for stretches and exercises to alleviate future discomfort. The receptionist wouldn't look me in the eye while speaking with her. She mentioned that they no not take walk ins cause they don't have therapists "just standing around". She said the earliest they can get me in was 330. I looked up spots online like she suggested and the earliest spot was at 300, in 20 mins. It's obvious that you choose your clients which is bad practice. I wouldn't go here if they paid me. read more

This place is definitely a joke. My boyfriend and I went in to get a massage after seeing the company at the first downtown farmers market. We recently moved back to Junction and my boyfriend, who is paralyzed in a wheelchair, wanted to find a place to get great massages since we got massages about once a week in Denver. This is NOT the place to get a massage!! After filling out the necessary form, the man at the desk - I'm guessing the owner (??) said we needed to fill out the address and birthday. When I asked why he needed that for a massage he got angry and said for medical purposes. I told him we filled out the medical questionnaire portion of the form so they knew our history and didn't see why our address or date of birth mattered when getting a massage. He then said well if you go to the dentist you give them your information. Ha! Yes we do, I said, for health insurance purposes. I agreed to give him my birth month and date and then he told me he needed the year! I still didn't get a logical reason why he needed our birthdays or address, for that matter. My boyfriend finally had enough and said no way we aren't giving you that info. The man took our papers and said ok thank you very much. He would not shred our forms in front of us or rip them up, so who knows what they do with your information. We happily left and went on to get a fabulous massage at Bliss Day Spa, which was way nicer anyway. The man also suggested we aren't used to getting massages in places other than the mall - poor guy had no idea we get a massage once a week and could've been loyal customers. I'm thankful we learned right off the bat what kind of business The Massage Store is and happy we found a place that makes us, the customers, feel comfortable and relaxed. I will also add that in addition to asking for your address, phone number, email, and bday they also ask what carrier you use for phone service!! I guess in an attempt to save a few cents on their text message reminders???? Bottom line, this place is not worth the trouble, time, or money.
