I can see why this studio has disabled reviews on Google. I had a terrible massage with Gwen. While they were polite and respectful, they talked my ear off about their personal problems for the entire ninety minute massage. I also booked a deep tissue with Gwen and it was a relaxation massage at best. I indicated that I required more pressure (I am very athletic and compete in a lot of endurance sports) and that request was met with no change in the service. The next day, I noticed that my back was actually more irritated and something happened to my IT band because Gwen aggravated a very, very, like a decade's old, knee injury that hasn't bothered me in a number of years. It's too bad I had this experience because they studio is clean and aesthetically pleasing and located near where I live. If you go to this massage place do not book with Gwen. read more

If you're looking for the usual deep tissue massage that warms up the muscles first plus some long massage back strokes before they start deep work this isn't the place for you. Bobbi just goes in cold & it's too painful for the muscles and too aggressive. I love getting a normal deep tissue massage done, but this was ridiculous. Bobbi the RMT explained before my appt. that she does extremely deep work and the 90min I requested isn't needed cos she gets to everything and her style of massage will be too much too handle for that long. We had words back and forth but I agreed to try an hour. She also said she was massaging for many yrs and employed by The Elks so she thinks she knows everything but who cares?? That doesn't mean that what you do is for everyone and it very much isn't ! It's for football players and athletes basically, who like their knots being attacked with no warm up of the muscles beforehand. After my so called...massage...she asked me if she missed anything, and I was thinking..ya some actual massage maybe instead of holding onto the table in pain? And the tops of my shoulders that were the worst weren't addressed properly. The day after my massage I felt the same as I did without it. Exuse me but I know what I need and I'm not "being sold 90min massages by other therapists", I enjoy a normal deep tissue massage that actually DOES help me, and 90min is usually the time that's needed for it. I've been getting massages for over 25yrs and you think I don't know what I respond to and what I need for my own body?? Of course if you just jump in with no warm up and hardly any actual massage it takes less time just to jump from knot to knot trying to fix them but that's not what a lot of people want, + it's extremely painful doing that in the first place. Then I got her number for a medical referral she wanted from me, & as she hands me her # she says "Just text me that it's "The B****" contacting me and then I'll know it's you". ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS?? This is how you talk to new clients?? Or clients in general? I know you work for the Elks and have a long list of regulars by now.....for what reason escapes me, but WOW. And don't tell me you were just kidding or I'm too sensitive, that was a passive aggressive comment. Thanks for the discount as I deserve it putting up with your aggressive know it all behavior & rudeness. As for the B**** part it takes one to know one! (Consult with new clients after you read their conditions on the phone to determine what they actually want, because what you do isn't for everyone and you don't know everything. I got a massage today at The Massage shop and was so disappointed.... :( I just moved down town and was looking for a RMT to go to monthly but I will have to find another place. I really rely on Massages to help relax. I tend to be high strung person so I promised myself to go more often as I know it helps me. The location is perfect for me. The inside of the shop is cute too. However, my massage lady was really loud... she was constantly talking, laughing loudly, and just wouldn't let me think about the massage. The music she was playing was not very "Spa" like. It was young hit music that is played the radio. I was pretty shocked having to listen to that.... The massage was rather poor as well..... 3/10 for technique. She did not concentrate on my lower back as I requested. She just put pressure on places with her elbows..... and the pressure was weak. I thought she must have a hand or wrist injury because she didn't do any other techniques. The leg massage was worse then my boyfriends leg rub. I don't mean to be rude but you can really tell the difference in quality by where the RMT went to school. This girl apparently did her course all online. The south side location I used to go to is too far now, but at least I was put in a relaxing environment, with a nice dark candle lit room, with a RMT talking in a quiet voice to ask questions about my massage needs. I think I will contact the shop.... I'm hoping I can change this review. read more

I went in for a 45 min Lymphatic drainage massage with Kylah, and it was the best massage I've ever received. Very professional and knowledgeable. Previous to going there my body was in so much pain and sore, but the technique used was something I've never experienced before, and when I tell you I'm in no pain, something I haven't experienced since my surgery...this is beyond!! read more

Extremely disappointed. A friend recommended this business when I injured my back. I booked an appointment for the next day. An hour and a half before the appointment I was struggling to get dressed and out the door because of my injury and see that the therapist has cancelled my appointment via text message and did not even apologize.
