My update has a lot packed in here. First of all, I have been to many well reviewed massage studios from the North, way out in the West end, eat side past Olde Towne Beverly, and all over South Side Edmonton. I've only met one other therapist in Edmonton who comes close to Jel and her therapist teams. She trains them fresh from their receiving their ticket as RMTs, tears down their fresh out of school mindsets, with all of their inexperience and bad habits, and teaches them how to properly help her clients, with her level of customer service, her efficiency, her techniques, her sales, her overall attitude, better and more effective skills... She molds them into very effective RMTs she can trust, which is saying a lot about them as RMTs of they have get approval. There are top notch. Take that into account when you book, her therapists are mini versions of her. Jel is the myth, the legend, the one I trust 100% with my awful bulged discs, sore shoulders, neck cramps, ruptured achilles, my left leg atrophy, the list goes on, so book here with confidence. Be up front with what you need, don't be afraid to request more pressure or less, chatty or quiet, scented oils or no. Some times she will advise you that 'you may need to put up with some discomfort while I get this [medical Latin muscle name gobbledygook] to release, and here's why...' I trust her not to leave me in pain or unable to move. I've been to several places where medium pressure left me bruised and unable to sit back in a chair for a couple days. I've been to a place that tried to manipulate my lower back when I went in to treat severe back spasms, which gave me more back spasms on the table screaming in pain, I've had therapists barely touch me, leaving me oily, still store and $100 poorer. I've been to some good places that are just too hard to get in unless you book several months in advance, or who stopped taking new patients. Soul 2 sole won't leave you stuck, if they are booking months ahead Jel pays attention and looks at taking on more staff to cover the demand, you know like a business is supposed to do. She has a second location downtown with a steam room, I haven't been yet but plan to visit soon. South side location is ready to get to, free parking and word has or they are going to look at offering massage technique classes at this location as well! I'm all over that, I'll be there on opening day. Book here with peace of mind. Call if you're in a bind, so to speak, snd they will not turn you away if you're suffering, they will do what they can to help. Go here, you don't need to go anywhere else, and if you have this covered by your insurance you're wasting the dollars every year! It makes your whole life so much better when you're not cringing at shoulder, neck and back pain (and legs, arms, hands, feet). Worth every-single-penny spent here. Also, I absolutely love the end of the massage when Jel gives me tea and a couple candies to send me out into the world feeling like a million bucks. This is my go-to spot for therapeutic massages. I recommend them to someone every single week. I'm sure they are great for relaxation massages as well, but on the rare occasion that I want a decadent relaxation massage that simply leaves me feeling pampered, I've got another place for that. Specifically, I come here for the Thai massage, and specifically, I see Jel. Thai massage is relaxing, but even more so, it releases tensions in my body in a similar way to an intensive yoga session, but with none of the work on my part. From what I've heard, all the other RMTs at Soul 2 Sole are great too, but I already know that Jel accomplishes exactly what I'm looking for, so I'm reluctant to even give anyone else a shot. That being said, different RMTs would have quite different techniques that might work even better for you. My significant other has been more adventurous than me and booked appointments with several different people here... and he has preferred the techniques of others. I can't praise Jel enough though, she is definitely an expert in her field, and I'm willing to wait or rearrange my schedule to ensure that I get in with her. She is strong but gentle, and very intuitive. Thai massage involves a lot of stretches (which is what often earns it the comparisons to yoga) and pressure point work that you won't see in other forms of massage. So, with Jel (though again, different RMTs will have different practice) I keep a sports bra on with stretch capris. Some of it can be a bit intimidating to some people, like it would be too intense... but, like I said Jel is intuitive, I'm pretty confident that she wouldn't break my fragile little mom. The studio is tastefully decorated, immaculately clean, warm and offers a very serene atmosphere. There's been different music on each time I've been, and it's never been out of place or kitchy (as I've experienced in some places). The beds are comfortable, heated, covered in flannel sheets and plush blankets and look very welcoming. I find the lighting and rich wall colours really contribute to the calm feeling of the rooms. As if a massage isn't enough of a treat, I love how they set out a couple of Swiss Delice chocolates (one milk and one dark) and tea or water at their reception desk at the end of the appointment. Online booking is so simple and straightforward. This place is getting popular though, so I try to plan well in advance. If you sign up for their email updates, they often send out a notice of their daily cancellations, which can be a very tempting little nudge. I also follow them on Facebook, where they often share updates on which fitness facilities will be hosting them for free mini/sample massages, and if for no other reason, you should 'like' their facebook page for that. Located in a strip mall, there's a good amount of free parking available. Their location works perfect for me, so close to home, and I feel very fortunate to have found such a marvelous RMT so close to home. read more

Hands down the best massage studio in Edmonton. First, the place is very beautifully decorated and no corners were cut. You can come here feeling confident that you will be able to completely relax. You won't hear any noises... No chatting through the wall or doors banging like you might be used to from other places. There is very relaxing music, and the beds are super comfy and heated. My go to therapist is Jel, but Praweena is also amazing. I haven't tried any of the others. Booking online is a breeze, and they are open SEVEN days a week! Lots of evening spots as well. The massages I get here are heavenly. Words really cannot come close to explaining the feeling you will leave with. Weather you're in for deep tissue or relaxation, you will leave feeling absolutely rested and relaxed, and any knots worked out. I was in tears but didn't want to be rude so didn't leave 45 min in I was still tearing up and wanted to leave. Told them to charge me 1 hour and I wanted to go. Like the other reviewer, I used to see Jel at Alberta Momentum and was really sad when she left. Luckily, Soul 2 Sole is open and I can go to Jel again! I tried some other RMTs while she was away, but I was always slightly disappointed. Jel is the ultimate professional: she's very good at her job (I go for deep tissue), and she's also an extremely lovely and caring person. Soul 2 Sole is clean, warm, and quiet - the 3 most important attributes of a good massage place! Even after not seeing her for months, Jel remembered the kind of music I like, that I like the bed nice and warm, the conversation level (none), and even the kind of oil I picked out the first time I saw her. She truly cares about your comfort and relaxation. The massage itself is exactly what you want it to be: you choose the pressure and which areas to work on, so when its over you really feel like you had a thorough treatment. After sleepily getting up and shuffling out to the reception desk, Jel had a cup of pandan tea and a little piece of dark chocolate waiting for me. Heaven! To be honest, when I went there, I could not feel a single difference at all. In to of the useless service that I got, one of the ladies providing the massages can not shut up. The other one can hardly speak English, so, I had a hard time explaining to her what was wrong. A word or advice to all the massage therapists out there, stop talking and chatting us up when we are going to get your service, unless you see us willing and on the mood to chatt. Usually we are paying enough to get some help with our health, not to confess none of our business to you, or listen to your krap neither. Maybe because my second massage was only an hr and half...maybe the longer appointments give the therapist more time. Either way kind of disappointed with the regular massage therapist. A quaint massage studio close to home. The front end is staff is great and Jel always greets with a name and a big 'ole smile like she genuinely appreciates her clients. First went for Thai massage and it is the best in the city. Jel is considerate and kind. She listens and chats with you regarding the massage but otherwise leaves you to relax. Have also enjoyed deep tissue and Swedish massage. Haven't had any other practitioners but I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The studio is clean and prices are fair. First time visiting this massage studio and its definitely not the last. I had a fantastic service with Marie she is very good at her job she know straight away where my back pain is coming from and walked out happy relax and pain free. She even thought me how to do some stretching. The atmosphere is so relaxing. Theres a bit of miscommunication, over the phone I was told I can do direct billing with my equitable insurance but ended up paying upfront which i dont mind with the service I recieved.
