While the room was clean and comfortable, some of the furniture and fixtures were starting to show their age and felt a little rough around the edges. One of the best perks was that the resort fee included two beach chairs and an umbrella each day. There are also plenty of food and drink options throughout the resort, making it easy to grab anything from a quick bite to a full meal without leaving the property.

It's when, for the short amount of time you're at a venue, restaurant, or hotel, the people serving you can create an experience that allows you to forget about the other problems and concerns you may have in your life. With that being said, this review is in reference to my stay at the Hollywood Diplomat Hotel this weekend. During my check-in, I was assisted by a gentleman named Kindred. Not only was he professional, but he was also empathetic, understanding, and resourceful. He truly exemplified what great customer service should be. I came to the hotel to celebrate my anniversary with my girlfriend, and the assistance Kindred provided completely transformed my experience. His professionalism, compassion, and willingness to help made what could have been a stressful situation into one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. I'm not sure if Kindred will ever read this review, or if my words will influence someone else's decision to stay at the Hollywood Diplomat Hotel. But if you ever find yourself in a situation that is beyond your control during your stay, I would highly recommend speaking with Kindred. Within minutes of entering my room, I found three large roaches. I killed one, and the other two ran across the room--there was no way I could stay the night knowing more were likely hiding. To make matters worse, the room was $250 per night, which is absolute insanity for what turned out to be a full-on roach motel. I reported the issue to the front desk, and while they agreed to refund my money, the situation made me seriously question how dirty this hotel must be to have multiple giant roaches in the room. I'm just glad I got out of there. If you decide to stay here, I strongly recommend doing a thorough inspection of your room, because cleanliness should be the most important part of any overnight stay. I would not recommend this hotel!!!

We didn't use much of the kitchenette, but a full fridge, countertop stove, dishwasher, and microwave would make this a great place to stay! Unfortunately for our stay, they were having maintenance issues with the close elevator broken down and a horrid smell coming from the hallway in between. We took them down to the lobby and when we exchanged them the next two sets we were given also had yellow stains! This is a problem that management needs to look into. No guest should sleep on yellow sheets! -The pool was pretty dirty. There were cigarette buts and other debris floating in the pool. It's peak travel season. The beds were comfy, pillows were plush, and the AC was on point. The bathroom mirror was also fantastic for doing makeup. The hot breakfast in the morning was just what we needed before heading out, and when we realized we forgot a toothbrush they kindly provided one right away. Breakfast is offered in the morning for a charge, but you get a credit towards food if you are a Hilton member with certain levels of status. Be sure to check your hotel folio. Our food credit wasn't initially applied and we had to call to get it applied for a refund after our stay. There is a cruise port shuttle that leaves at two times from the hotel. They charge $20 per person cash. This is a convenient, but time consuming option. The shuttle stops to pick up additional passengers at the Springhill Suites across the street and then will stop at every cruise ship at the port to drop off passengers. Unfortunately our cruise ship with Disney Cruise Line was the last stop. We weren't worried about being late, but we were on the shuttle for 1 hour before we were dropped off. Leave plenty of time if you choose to use the shuttle.

Sometimes they have shuttles that can take you here so you can avoid the stress of finding parking. I would look into it.
