Five stars for what it is. A beachside tiki hut with a limited bar. Jeanie, I think, was the bartender and it seems ours were the only seat without a regular sitting in it. Checked in for a long weekend first off we didn't have the best experience. We were placed in an upstairs room. It was decent but the musty smell was overwhelming for my wife and actually made her nauseous. I called the property Mgr Nd they did agree to move us downstairs to the corner room. It was much better but there was a person staying next door that was always smoking weed outside the door. It wasn't a pleasant time. read more

Without a doubt, the bartender Marci, is the worst bartender I've encountered in 30+ years. It happens every time - I have to ask for my check no less than SEVEN times. This is a great spot that I will visit every time I am in town. But this bartender, Marci, needs to go to bartender training. She totally wrecks any and all good beach tiki bar vibes. read more

We didn't stay at the resort, but stopped into the tiki bar. Best thing we did all week. The bartender is friendly, funny and competent. But the atmosphere is the best. We sat down and we're immediately welcomed by the "regulars". Fish and his friends had us cracking up the whole night. We will definitely be back next time we are in town. read more

This review is for the Tiki Bar at the Walkabout Beach Resort. This tiki bar which is located in the perfect setting on Hollywood Beach is a gem! The bartender is super friendly and so are the bar guests. They offer daily drink specials which is an extra perk. I opted for the Funky Buddha Floridian Beer on this hot and sunny Sunday. I am not usually a beer drinker but the Funky Buddha Floridian puts a change to that, it's a mild fruity beer and is truly a delight. Let's talk about the setting, as you sit at this cute little tiki bar you are overlooking the ocean, the beautiful beach and the Broadwalk of Hollywood. She was so friendly and personable. She was kind to all customers and gave me a lot of information on scuba diving in the area as we share the same interest. My fiancé Took me here for an engagement getaway and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff was so friendly and happy for us. When we checked in, there was a bottle of champagne and a beautiful bouquet of red roses in the living room. There's a little kitchen, dining room, beautiful bathroom with a mosaic tile floor, and a separate bedroom from the living room. It's well furnished and would be able to sleep 4 comfortably (there's a sleeper sofa). The entire staff knew who we were and helped keep the celebration going all weekend with out of this world customer service. The Tiki Bar is great! it's a locals' favorite, with friendly patrons always there and a welcoming bartender. I wouldn't change a thing. They even recommended other places to eat along the beach! This place is the epitome of old Florida Charm. A perfect getaway, even if it's just a staycation. Plus, it's like 10 steps from the beach! read more

Fabulous. Veronica, the manager, is very friendly and helpful. The rest of the staff are great as well. The room was spacious and and the bed comfortable. 1 night another couple stayed with us. They reported that the pull out bed was comfortable. The location is right on the beach, a little north of the restaurants and bars but a very easy walk. The action is close without the noise. There is also a small tiki bar on site. We just loved this place and will return. read more

We usually come here to the bar and the beach at least a few times during the summer months so we are familiar with the staff. But this time we did a stay-cation and I loved staying here! Veronica is great! She's super friendly and accommodating and made our stay here absolutely amazing. We stayed in Unit 1 which was a corner unit, SUPER big! It has everything we could ever need, it was beautifully decorated (I actually loved the style). The space was not only super clean but it was well maintained and very enjoyable and comfortable. We instantly felt at home. All the pros: -Management (Veronica) makes your experience a memorable one -The bar tenders (shout-out to Chenille!) are always friendly. You can tell a lot of regulars come here because the bartenders are on point with their service and drinks. -Steps from the beach and other activities -Clean, big, beautiful rooms -Parking was taken car of During this stay we also did a cabana on the beach the staff there was super friendly and helpful too. I wouldn't call this so much a hotel as I would a B&B or something - there are only 8 units on the entire property and if you didn't know it was there it's sandwiched so closely to the two properties beside it that if you blinked you might almost miss it. It's also basically a full one bedroom apartment complete with kitchenette, dining room, and foldout couch. I personally love this kind of setup for the beach especially. You're probably not there to eat at amazing restaurants and you won't be out all day sightseeing, so it's great to have the flexibility that a refrigerator and a hot plate afford you.The apartment itself is lovely, beachy yet modern, clean and updated. The location of this place is unbeatable. You literally walk right out of your apartment (that's right, that's what I'm calling it) door, go ten paces and you're on the boardwalk. go ten more paces and you're on the sand. We couldn't have asked for a better base camp for our beach weekend (which took place over 4th of July). Usually you're stuck trekking out everything you might need out to the ocean at the beginning of the day and then once you've had a few beers resorting to peeing in the ocean because your hotel room is on the 18th floor half a mile in from the beach and half a mile deep into your hotel. Not the case here - best set up ever. My one gripe was the AC in the living room. Now, I understand that the apartment has full ocean view and a lot of windows, but if that's the case you need to install a larger or stronger AC in there if you expect anyone to sleep on that pull out sofa. We alternated between the 3 nights, and each time whoever was on that couch woke up sweating and miserable. Be wary of this when booking rooms. It's definitely not enough to keep me from coming back...but hopefully they'll have it fixed by the time I make another trip over there. read more

I was really excited to stay here and booked the cottage online last night. I even received a confirmation email directly upon booking. Imagine my surprise and disappointment to receive an email this morning from management saying that unfortunately someone else had booked the cottage via phone at the same time I booked online. My confusion was twofold. How does one reservation supersede another if supposedly booked simultaneously? Secondly, I'm from the West Coast and made my booking at 5:10 PST, that's 8:10 EST and I actually did try to call the office and no one answered because their office closes at 5 pm EST. When I pointed this out, I was told the other reservation came in on the phone after hours. So, yeh. I feel gypped. I can't help but think a "regular" booked after me and I got bumped. They did offer two upstairs rooms, but we planned to have my elderly parents (who live in the area) visit us during the day time and they wouldn't be able to maneuver up the stairs. I'm writing this for the hotel's edification that they might need to streamline their phone & online reservations better in order to avoid these kind of issues in the future. I'm a business owner and verrry positive Yelper. It's not like I make a habit of griping, but I do feel this was an unfortunate incident. I would still consider staying here in the future. 1st the people :Veronica: What a great person to represent your business! (pay attention owners) From the first call to see about a reservation she was great on the phone; answered all questions with a great attitude and no rush to hang up. I called back later that day and ask for a manager or owner to give her a good review, I was then I found out she was the manager, oh well, I hope the owner reads reviews. When we got there, she was all smiles; ready do do more than we ask. She helped the four of us to get all our luggage to the wonderful room. She also helped with directions, restaurant recommendations and anything we ask or needed. Every time she saw us walk by the office she would bounce out and ask how things are and what could she do help. The two ladies who took care of our room, supplies and cleaning: Sorry I do not remember their names, I was only told once when I ask Veronica for envelopes to leave them a tip. Any way, they were both very nice, professional and always smiling. One had an accent and son in the service(thank you sir!). The other was a cheerfully blushing black lady who even offered to launder some of our personal clothing. She just recently had a newborn (best wishes to the child and family!). 2nd the place: It only has eight rooms and looks more like a fancy well maintained house on the beach. Just what we wanted; no big crowds. Straight out of the classy 20s but with today's amenities (air conditioning!). I wish I would have taken several pictures but it was: drop the luggage and straight to the ocean. They should have more pictures & a floor-plan drawing or better yet videos on their website; unlike most places they have nothing to hide! Every thing was clean (my number one priority). We stayed in room number 8. We were on the 2nd floor, up one of the two classy semi-spiral stairways, closest to the ocean; the most prominent room in all of the exterior pictures you will see on the web; the top right with the curve. That curved area of the room is a nice sized living room (WOW ! what a view from all the windows) it has a sleeper sofa & a nice big screen TV. Attached is a small eating nook. Thru the hallway door is the kitchen. It has a mid-sized refrigerator, sink, microwave & a few small appliances, no stove. The only thing we used was the refrigerator for drinks & a few snacks. We ate out most of the time. Next is the bathroom: small, but all you need. The tub/shower is a traditional tub & a removable hand shower. No hot tub jets, but who could ever want that when you are steps from the waves ?! The bedroom is bigger than we expected. There is plenty of room even with a king size bed. There is a good sized big screen TV also. The bed has a wonderfully comfortable mattress & big nice pillows. The large window for that room does give a good view of the court yard, Tiki bar & the ocean. The outside of the hotel is well maintained & is now white and light green. At night it has green accent lighting. Nothing we saw was in disrepair. What is not there & not needed are: No deck - the courtyard, benches & Tiki bar are at the bottom of the steps. No grill - why would you want to grill with great restaurants all down the broadwalk? No pool - did you know you are at the beach with an ocean? 3rd the location: Wow, Wow, Wow did I say Wow ? We flew from Tennessee into Fort Lauderdale & then had a short Uber ride to the hotel. It is one block off the main highway. As soon as you get out of the car you see the beach & it hits you "time to relax". There is nowhere from that point on that you do not see the ocean. We were happily greeted by Veronica then taken thru the courtyard up the winding staircase to our room. I spent a month searching and reading reviews for what part of FL to visit, where to stay, where to eat & what to do. I settled on Hollywood because assure warm weather no matter what. Also, I had been told Miami and Fort Lauderdale are not as safe. Reading the crime statistics and other reviews Hollywood seemed to be a safe place; it was. I would not worry leaving a bag on the boardwalk & coming back later to see it in the same place. It seems to be a more mature area, not any partying, although they do have concerts at theater down the beach. The hotel is toward the northern end of the broadwalk where it is less populated and mainly just hotels, but just two minute walk gets you down to where the shops and restaurants are. From the last step of our stairway it is two steps to the broadwalk, cross the thirty or so feet of it then you are in the sand. The "broad" walk by the way is a brick paved area about thirty feet wide by several miles long between the beach & the hotels, shops & restaurants. No motorized vehicles are allowed. The beach and broadwalk are well kept by the city night & day. The police patrol there during the day and at night we never saw or heard anything negative.Bottom line: We loved the hotel, the employees and the location ! We plan to return soon. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the walkabout for a week and cannot wait to go back. We travel to FL at least 6 times a year with his job and have stayed at many places, but this is by far the best place and will definatly be staying there again. The staff is very accomidating, rooms are immaculate, and hasan amazing view of the beach. Also, cant forget the great Tiki bar with the Pina Coladas!! This Hotel is literally on the Hollywood boardwalk about 10 steps from the sand. It's a small hotel with only 8 rooms, so don't expect all the amenities of a Hilton or Marriott but you get the feeling like you own a condo at the beach. We rented here for 4th of July weekend and it was amazing, we were able to see fireworks on the beach 15 steps from our front door. You can spend all day on the beach without having to worry about carrying all your stuff home or even up a large hotel. Restaurants and bars are all within walking distance, in fact the hotel even has a tiki-bar if you don't want to walk. The room was very modern and cozy, with a kitchenette, 1 bedroom and 1 sleeper sofa. 2 Flat Screen TVs, and free-wifi included. read more

We love going to the Tiki at the Walkabout Beach Resort on the Broadwalk in Hollywood Beach, Fl. Besides the incredible view of the ocean, the proximity to the broadwalk - great for "people watching", and the great happy hour prices, bartenders Cherice and Chenille (and their mom Sherry), actually enhance an already perfect experience by making you feel like family. Stayed at the Walkabout for 7 Great days for a long awaited vacation and it was everything we wanted and needed. We stayed in room #8 and it was absolutely amazing with the wrap around windows giving us spectacular views of the Boardwalk and crystal clear blue ocean! The room was decorated beautifully and very clear and only steps away from the Tiki Bar!!! I can't say enough about the Staff as everyone was fabulous and very friendly and willing to bend over backwards to making our stay wonderful (Thank you Renee, Natalie, Sheri, and Angus).
