Not too far from the busiest part of town, but also kinda not too close to there. I chilled out here for a good while and read, enjoying the atmosphere thoroughly. I like it and I'll definitely return next time I'm in St Ives.

I don't know who came in first, but I can't argue with the fact that this is pretty tasty ice cream in a pretty gorgeous location. The Ice cream is produced in Zennor, a tiny village with 28 inhabitants which we had passed through while walking the Cornish Coastal Path. The company is family run and the ice cream is made from milk from Daisy, Primrose and Sid Vicious, and many other Friesian cows on Tremedda Farm. They then produce about 30 different flavours of ice cream and sorbet which it then sells through this little shop in St Ives. The shop itself is tiny with just a couple of small tables, however they still manage to serve cream teas and coffees along side the ice creams. Its situated right on the beach front so perfect for take away, particularly when the Cornish sun is shining. I went for the orange and mascarpone flavour which was simply divine. Would I like a free wafer with that? Of course, does anyone ever say no?! I would have to agree with the Times, certainly one of the best ice creams I have been lucky enough to taste. Send some up to Sussex please!

Having got ourselves settled in and drinks ordered, we were told to go and peruse the day's catch in the counter and pick our choice of main course. There is a 'standard' menu on the tables to help you decide, and it would be much easier if they just let you choose from that instead of having to huddle round the counter; still, it's a nice option to offer. We picked the seafood medley for two, which offers a good cross-section of what's on offer, and it was just the right size to satisfy the appetite without resorting to gluttony. Everything was very tasty and well-cooked - it doesn't get much fresher than this! For dessert, I couldn't resist the chocolate, hazelnut and tia maria torte, although in deference to my dairy intolerance I had it without the clotted cream. To give them their due, the server did come and ask if I was OK with that as there was some dairy involved in the torte itself; I responded that sometimes I'm prepared to suffer a little where chocolate is involved! I'm glad I did too, it was absolutely yummy, and I love the little crunchy sugar-caramel decorations that accompany several of the desserts. I'm definitely bookmarking this place for the next time we're in St. Ives.

We…read morethought it was terrible service as there was a few empty tables of two seats and the two people were holding our table. The team didn't even offer us an aperitif while waiting so we left and went to a pub next door to spend our money. 40 minutes later... our table was finally available. As a starter, a few of us had the scallops. The dish was well presented but the scallops were pretty smalls and tasteless. Two of us had the whitebait fritters, the battered was light and crispy around the whitebait, a fine starter but nothing exceptional. For main some opted for monkfish, Cornish megrim sole and sea bass. Some others had duck or chicken breast. I didn't think the main were nicely presented, they were quite simple. I had my monkfish as recommended with hollandaise sauce. It was two tiny pieces of monkfish, it was good but again I wasn't impressed by the dish and by its taste. For dessert, few friends shared a chocolate and orange creme brûlée. I didn't like it and I just thought this dessert shouldn't be called creme brûlée but chocolate mousse ! Overall I didn't think this restaurant was amazing. Maybe on this day we were not very lucky and the team was not at its best. The person who booked this place goes very often to the Sea food cafe and she was very disappointed by the night too and the lack of great service.

Waaay better than the rubbish, greasy pasties you an buy in train stations in London!! - If you come at lunch you'll have to wait...it seems like this place is pretty famous...we had to queue for about 10 minutes. - I also bought some saffron buns for £1...they were yummy too. *I actually misheard her and wrote myself a note to look out for "Phelp's" ...but I assume that was just my inability to listen properly as I couldn't spot a shop called Phelp's!! ** Later my other Cornish friend told me that "swede" isn't actually swede(!) it refers to a Cornish turnip.

Didn't eat bread as am not a bread person but shell fish....yum. The menu didn't have dairy-free desserts so they made me dairy-free pavlova which was so absolutely perfect - I'm taking off my imaginary hat. Service was good - attentive and making me feel very welcome. If you're ever in Newquay - go for it.

The only thing she could eat here was chips. I had the mixed fish linguini, my partner had some chips and my daughter had the children's tomato linguini. The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.
