I requested a sweater designed with a video game for a birthday gift and was pleased with the process it took to complete it. I appreciated the question of permission to use designs outside their database for the protection of artists and their copyright, especially with the current climate of AI feeding on stolen artwork. They were timely and provided incredible customer service. When the initial design came back the colours were duller than I expected and they did a second pass to increase vibrancy free of charge. They clearly value customer satisfaction and service, and their wide variety of options and designs are awesome! I'll definitely order from them again.

I was so happy to find this place not too far off from some of the other places we like to visit. Anyway, about three different people in the shop helped me; it was so nice. One lady took me around to all the local dyers, another lady looked up one of my saved Ravelry patterns so we could make sure I was getting the right weight and yardage, and a third man helped me at the checkout and helped me pick out a bag and gave me a full punch card (I spent a lot oops). The LYS is right off a main street, and it takes up the corner of an old building; you can't miss it! (I also love house plants, and our last trip to Victoria I was trying to convince my husband to let me bring a plant home with us. Bringing home yarn is MUCH easier and I got much less pushback from him, haha.)

I was very disappointed with my experience at Fabricland's Tillicum location…read more As a novice sewer, I visited the store looking for guidance on fabric requirements for a project and intended to purchase my materials there. One staff member kindly helped me estimate the amount of fabric I would need. However, during the interaction, the manager reprimanded me for asking for that level of assistance and stated that it was not the staff's job to help customers in that manner. While I understand there may be limits to the advice employees can provide, there was a much more professional and customer-friendly way to communicate that message. As a result of the experience, I chose not to make my fabric purchase at Fabricland. Instead, I visited Cloth Castle in Langford, where the staff were extremely helpful, answered my questions, and provided excellent customer service. I purchased my materials there and would not hesitate to return. It's unfortunate, as I had recently paid $25 for a Fabricland membership, but based on this experience, I don't anticipate using it.
