With the name "Majestic", I feel like it's fair to have slightly heightened expectations of a theater. We came in on an admittedly busy day and found a place that had very nice folks working there and few amenities outside of that. The main gripe I have about here is how they go about the purchasing process. We initially tried to buy tickets online and while it's an option, the convenience charge was $1.25 per ticket! Tickets to the show were $6-8 for the matinee' and $7-9.75 for late showings - fairly in line with what we'd expect, but it's a cash only spot. They've got a small ATM out front with a $3 handling fee for those who don't carry cash on a regular basis. The folks doing the tickets were very nice, but it's a gigantic bottleneck here as well as when you're actually entering the theater. The concessions are standard and the theaters are clean with good sound. Overall, a good movie experience. Straight up, they need to change how they're doing things here as far as the tickets go. I realize they're the only game in town and they don't want the 2-5% transaction fee to go to the credit card companies, but Ace of Base is not currently topping charts, Aladdin is no longer in theaters and Beanie babies are not your go to (1992 for those wondering!). Seriously, add $0.25 to the ticket to cover your cost and you're probably end up making more due to the percentage of people who still pay in cash so the Gov't can't track them. As stated, it's the only option around, but continuing to run your business like a cable company with the mindset that there will never be competition will quickly land you in the same place they are currently. read more

Yakima only has a few movie theater options, and this is one of them. This is the newest of the theaters, and I was impressed. Went here on a Thursday night (Shhh, yeah, I didn't go to Yakima Salsa Thursdays---don't tell any of my salsa homies!!), and my girlfriend and I were lucky to have the theater virtually all to ourselves! The theater has nice seats in a stadium seating layout. The sound was good, and there were no issues with the visuals. Be warned: the theater only takes cash. Now they have ATMs are located right next to the box office, but those things always charge fees. Outside the theater are some chilling-out chairs with cinema-esque image tiles inlaid on the concrete (a nice place to wait for your movie or your ride). read more

First I'd have to say nice job on being able to buy tickets online. After that, not much else I can say that's positive. An ATM is making them some good profits because everyone there is going to use it when they realize they don't take anything but cash after you order your movie treats. It happened to me and everyone in front of me and behind me. Put your stuff to the side while you go get cash. Unbelievable. Ok so you buy your tickets online, but you still have to get there early enough to get enough seats together for your party? Or else you could be spaced out as if you waited in line to begin with. Solo played last night and the first 5 minutes played as if one of the stereo channels were out. Couldn't hear part of the dialogue. So 5 people go and complain and they fix the sound. You'd think they'd start it over being it was only 5 mins? Dolby Atmos....riiiiiiiight. Ummmm no! Not a great experience. I'd rather drive to Richland next time I go and watch a movie. read more

Living in Yakima is not great if you want to see a movie. Standing here in line during Christmas break just reminds me of how bad the Yakima Theatres are. There are probably 200 people in line for concessions but half the concession stand is closed because there are not enough staff working. I have now been in line for nearly 10 minutes and have barely moved. Sadly, this is quite often the norm in all of the theatres owned by Mercy Enterprises. So, after paying over $40 for 4 people for a matinee, we now have to stand in ridiculously long lines for popcorn and pop at inflated prices. Next, we'll sit in a theatre with mediocre sound and a smallish screen. This is life in Yakima. If you are from out of town, don't waste your time or money on Yakima Theatres. UPDATE: Here I am again, standing in line waiting for concessions from a woefully understaffed concessions counter. Been waiting for 15 minutes and probably have another 5 to wait. This, unfortunately, is the reality of living in Yakima and trying to see a new movie. The new slogan for Yakima Theaters should be, "We don't care because we don't have to!" Why are movie theatres so disappointing? You can go to the Orion, order off the menu and have drinks and food brought to your seat. If your going to pay forty dollars for a movie and popcorn shouldn't they raise the bar? Bring some variety to the menu offer something local, regional or unique. The majestic is nice fo it's size. The variety of movies are fair, the sound and projection are good and the seating is average. If you want something unique hit the Orion instead. read more

We went and saw the Lion King here the other day. It was s great movie and the theatre was spacious and comfortable. The price on the other hand was outrageous. The Mercy movie special has gone up 3 dollars since we were there last. It is now a once a year treat to go to the movies for a family of 4 or more, instead of something fun to do every few months! Old school theater. Not much else to say. If you're from the bigger city you will be disappointed. If you're looking for somewhere to catch a flick and don't mind paying cash (they do not take plastic here) it's fine. No thrills about this place. And considering the options are minimal around here I can't complain too much. I do appreciate the reclining seats and combo meal snacks I can get at the newer theaters when I do go back home from here but in the meantime it isn't bad. read more

I'm completely dismayed that the matinee prices have been raised. And, frankly, it doesn't seem like the best business decision because now seniors like myself will go on Tuesdays only to take advantage of the lower ticket price that one day. I went this past Tuesday, by the way, and found that The Majestik was apparently unprepared for the number of like-minded people because at 11:45 the line to get in was at least 30-40 people long which left little time to get through the snack bar line before several of the movies started. I was not alone in skipping the snack bar so I wouldn't have to enter the theater in the dark. More lost revenue for Mercy Theaters and additional irritation/disappointment for me. read more

I have to say they have improved the staff at the majestic. The consesions like was moving quickly, they were polite. The best staff I have seen in this theater. I even dropped my soda just after I got it and they replaced it politely with a smile. read more

This is one of the most sorry excuses for a business I have ever encountered. They don't accept debit cards, instead you have to wait in line at a single atm machine and pay a ridiculously high fee. As many other customers have stated, they treat their customers like trash by searching their purses like they're the damn TSA. What gives them the right? Are they really so desperate for money that they're willing to make their customers feels uncomfortable just so they won't bring in outside food?! And maybe I wouldn't be so tempted to smuggle food in if their concessions were reasonably priced, but they're sky high just like the ticket prices. They only get a select few films in, if you are hoping to see a smaller indie film, no such luck. They will play the same blockbuster in three different theaters instead of buying the rights to more movies. Also, they keep the same movies around for weeks and weeks at a time. They also sell gift certificates that they only deem as being good for certain movies. As if this wasn't enough, the under paid high schoolers working here are the rudest people you can possibly imagine, and the theaters are always filthy. The 3D glasses are always dirty as well. There is no way these awful people could keep this sad excuse for a business going if Yakima had another theater, unfortunately mercy has a monopoly on it all. Bottom line: These rude, overpriced, people leave a bad taste in my mouth every time. read more

Perhaps the worst theater in the State. I have been to many theaters in WA. But Yakima is almost legendary for it's bad experience. Taking the family to the movies is not cheap and if I'm going to pay to watch a movie at the cinema instead of in my home theater I expect a good experience. The Majestic does not offer it. This theater often the only option to see the movie you want and the other one is also owned by the same company. Sadly they know that and take full advantage of that. Bring cash because they don't take cards. There is a cash machine right inside the door however so they can charge you a generous fee in order to pay. The staff is generally inexperienced kids who are rude and unprofessional. Beware during evening showings. They want to rush home so they close concession a good while before the movies end. One time I went to get popcorn about 45 minutes before the end of a show and they were closing up. The kid behind the counter pointed to a garbage bag and said he had pulled it, but that the bag was clean and he could serve it from there - NO, that's not a joke. I have family in Yakima so I've been stuck going to this theater many times. The cinemas are medium sized and nothing great. They tend to also be drafty. The Main Yakima theaters (this one and Yakima Cinema) are run my the same family. They are the money people of Yakima and they could really care less whether customers are happy. So if you must go to a movie in Yakima you have few choices. The prices are not terrible as theaters go, but don't expect a great experience. Bad service, mediocre sound and screens. They are also known for searching your purse or bag. Bad company. Bad experience. Only option. Sad but true. read more

When I first saw the Yelp reviews here I thought they were probably a little bit harsh and over reactions. After recently visiting I can confirm that most of these other reviews are not over blown. On a positive note, the theaters are generally clean. I think that's the only positive thing I can say. My first beef - this is a cash-only establishment. Really? Its 2016 and I can't use a credit card here? A $2 ATM fee? Wow.....coming from a bigger city, prices aren't ridiculous, but they seem high for a cash only place. It's $8.00 for a matinee and $10.00 for the evening shows. Food prices are way too expensive, per normal. A medium popcorn medium is $4.75 while the medium drink is $3.50. Let's just say that the filmed announcements made prior to the movie (no feet on seats in front of you, no texting, etc.) are singlehandedly the worst I've seen anywhere.... First off what movie theater doesn't take cards?! You have to pay with cash only and the ATM charges $2.50 then it is slow on top of that (so you're only getting further behind in line). Oh and it gets better! Think you are going to get a deal by seeing an early movie?! Think again!! Their matinee price is the same night price for theaters elsewhere! *LONG BUT WORTH THE READ* Let me start by saying that absolutely none of the theaters are good. They are all owned by the same people who refuse to take cards so it will not cost them card fees, and refuse to put a brand name like Regal or Cinemax on their theaters to avoid shelling out any money to the brand name. The owners of these theaters are extremely cheap and it shows, the two theaters in Yakima ( Majestic & Yakima Valley ) and then the Ellensburg theater, it shows how cheap they are. The seats are horrible and outdated, twice now I have been and the movie is having issues playing. The staff are extremely apathetic, and definitely let off the attitude that they hate their jobs, which honestly with the state of these theaters I would too. The online movie times are extremely inaccurate, managed to ruin date night as both theaters were sold out and both had inaccurate times (Yakima ones). You will end up paying as much if not more at these theaters than you would going to a branded theater that offers modern amenities. These theaters need a serious updating and owner change, just save your time and money and just wait for it to come out at home. Absolutely a waste of money, only stop by these theaters if you're desperate to see a certain movie at the theater, and even then r e a l l y think over your decision. read more

Had a terrible experience last night trying to use my retired military I.d...apparently they only accept active and reserve (not much of a discount anyways but it's the principles). Also another thing that irked me was that they only accept cash (I thought it was 2017, I know Girl Scouts who at least have square so what the heck?) nothing in the theatre felt upgraded except the tickets and the concessions prices. Unfortunately, there aren't any other choices to go in Yakima so I guess they have no reason to appease to the consumer. Before I went to The majestic theater, I read some of the other reviews. I was hesitant to even bother since they were all so bad. But since I had to do a 34-hour reset at the gear jammer truck stop, this was the closest movie theater to me. Everything I read was false, it was clean the people were courteous and the prices are really good. But take into consideration that I am from California, and the prices there are an arm and a leg when it comes to going to the movies. The prices for refreshments we're about 75 to 80% of what I pay in California so not bad at all. One review said they did not accept debit cards, yes they do accept debit cards at least at the refreshment counter. I did not bother to ask if they accepted debit when I purchased my movie ticket because I paid cash. Also it has 70 mm Dobby surround sound in the cinema and the seats are in good condition, although they are not rocking chairs or recliners. Overall it was an enjoyable visit, except for the movie I seen really sucked but that is not the fault of the theater. I seen the new movie Godzilla, I left after 30 minutes into the movie. Because whoever directed it or wrote the script what is a leftist liberal and suggested that the only reason that the Titans / Monsters we're here is because man is a gross polluter and killing our environment. And it was the monsters job to reset things by killing off humans. Just what I needed, to have somebody's ill-informed beliefs forced upon me after spending over $20 to go see a movie. read more

Had a great experience at the Majestic Theatre today. All of the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. The theater is cash only but there is an ATM inside so it was not an issue. My toddler got in free and that is a big plus! Concessions were reasonably priced and the theatre was very clean. We will be back! read more

Kicking myself for not bringing my own 3D glasses from home to watch yesterday's showing of Star Wars. The glasses provided did not fit over my glasses so I pretty much held them in place throughout the movie. Also the 'lenses' were wavy so there were 'folds' to look through. The lenses were made of the material like the dark glasses you get from the eye doctor which made me wonder how the theater is able to sanitize the glasses. Okay, it is two years later and I want to leave some updates after watching Last Jedi. Before this movie, I did bring my own glasses for another 3D viewing (can't remember the show), but they did not synch with the movie, so still ended up using this theater's glasses. I picked up a pair of 3D glasses from another theater (and they are super comfortable) that I saw Wonder Woman at... and brought them to Jedi, and again, they did not synch up. Here's my knock on the glasses Mercy provides - they fit tight on the head as they are a one piece construction (they do not have hinged arms), the lens is a narrow piece of plastic and the plastic is always wavy and for me, it goofs up the movie. This is the only movie theater I have been to that uses these uncomfortable and ill fitting glasses.T As for the theater itself, we tend to go to matinees and find the staff friendly, the theater/lobby/restrooms clean, and refreshments good. I learned to watch the level of the popcorn in the machine and if it is really low, I step aside and wait until the next batch gets started because I had one experience where my bag was filled with popcorn dregs (all the arms and legs off the fluffy pieces). read more

Growing up in this town, this has been the only theater I've been to so if your a local this place is pretty good but could use an update.

Ticket sales are fine, they seem reasonable. The building and service are also nice and accommodating. But seriously, the NAZI checkpoint where my wife gets her purse checked to make sure we buy snacks in the theatre at a 300% markup is almost offensive. The Mercy family already has a monopoly on theaters in Yakima and really stick it to the customer when it comes to my orange soda, popcorn and snickers bar. It costs $3.50 for a 32oz (same price for a refill)! I know my complaint has been around for years, but I guess people will still pay the price unfortunately. But I still say it's ridiculous! And from now on in sneaking my snacks in! read more
